I'll start with the good - The room was lovely and bathroom huge, we enjoyed the swimming pool, and had a fabulous dinner at the Cast Iron Grill restaurant - our server Ben was brilliant! The bad though - When we checked in, the receptionist tried to charge us £30 more than my original booking confirmation. When I showed my confirmation email, she didn't know why 'the system' had tried to charge me more, and then just corrected it manually. This seems extremely dodgy and was very embarrassing for me to question the rate in front of my partner, as it was my treat for him. Even though I'd rung in advance to say it was my partners birthday and our recent engagement and could they do something in the room - there was no note or card in the room when we arrived, or acknowledgement of this at front desk. In fact, on the TV in the room our welcome note was addressed to another guest. When I spoke to front desk about this, still nothing was done. I'd also rung in advance to explain I had a dairy allergy, however when we checked in to our room there was no dairy free alternative for the tea facilities. The spa was impossible to get through to in the week leading up to our stay, and on two separate occasions when I spoke to the hotel operator instead, I was told that 'Sunday was never busy, so it shouldn't be a problem to book on the day' but just in case she took my number to get the spa to call me back - which they never did. Needless to say when we went to the spa, it was fully booked and I found them extremely unaccomodating even though we were guests of the hotel and it was a special occasion. Both the steam room and the sauna were closed when we visited due to an 'electrical fault'. When we ordered lunch at the Zest cafe bar and grill, the waiter 'forgot' our drinks order. So, all in all, although we had one very positive experience with our waiter 'Ben' from the Cast Iron Grill who almost turned things around with how he treated us, the overall experience of the hotel means it won't be somewhere I'd be interested to return to.

We've visited several times, always getting good service. This time the visit was linked with a bus trip to the Thursford Christmas Show which was brilliant. Previous visits included one where the room had the most enormous bath which could have housed the two of us!

Booked by my company at £150 this Wednesday night rate did not include their £13.95 breakfast so I visited the local costa for £5. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay. Room lovely with all mod con facilities. Thank you

very welcoming and polite front of house staff offered to take my bags to the room, which sadly you don't get asked this very often.. rooms were a good size, upgraded to junior suite. bar very welcoming, good selection of wines and Gins, had a bar snack and didn't eat in the restaurant, breakfast very good, huge selection to choose from. will stay again if in Norwich.

A lovely, spacious and very smart hotel set in extensive grounds and golf course. Our room was generous in size with two double beds, massive TV and all the extras you would expect in a hotel like this. The restaurant is big but not formal with excellent waiter service. Plenty of choice on the main menu and the set menu if required. Food was hot and cooked to order. Bar area was spacious with a wide selection of spirits and beers. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice, both hot and cold. Omelettes cooked to order or a hot buffet. Staff were cheerful and helpful and I would definitely stay here again.

My sister got married here 15 years ago and I expected it to be a bit dilapidated after all that time but what a stunning hotel! The character is still there but with modern touches and it really works. Ultra helpful staff and lovely room, plus the Chelsea team were staying at the same time which was a bonus! 5* from us xx

Well what can I say,we had stayed at Sprowston last year and enjoyed the stay so much we went back on Jan 1st...Firstly may I say that we did enjoy our stay...However we did think the food menue had been altered somewhat..Not as much choice, and more of an upmarket bar meal type of thing.....Which was a tad disappointing...We got stuck in the lift not for long but it may as well been hrs as it had the same effect on me !!....It spoilt my stay.....

Stayed here for 3 nights before Xmas due to a work commitment. Having read some of the reviews before I was a little dubious, however I had nothing to worry about. I was given room 101 which if I have anything negative to say about it is that it is right above the gym and you can here people running on the treadmill. However being a gym goer myself I wasn’t bothered and appreciated the noise. After all it doesn’t go on all night!! Breakfast is plentiful. I was there fairly early so everything is fresh and hot. The chefs were attentive to the hot plate and made sure it wasn’t sitting there going cold and nasty. I only ate in the bar area one night and what I did have I can’t complain about. The added bonus with this hotel is that you get a fridge in your room which is much appreciated and was used to it fullness. If I’m ever back in the area I’ll definitely stay here again.

Stayed here with wife and daughter for a couple of days just for a break. The hotel is situated just outside of Norwich with a park and ride less than mile away approximately. The hotel was clean and staff very pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself could do with a bit of tender loving care as it is looking a bit tired both in and out. The pool is of an ok size for families and is located by reception. I was a little disappointed with the restaurant however as I had burger and chips and although ok the chips were barely warm. I did over hear from a fellow guest that the award winning pie only had two and a half pieces of chicken in it ? There is a bistro on the site I assume more for the golfers where we had lunch which was ok but expensive and service not too fast so hopefully you won’t be in a hurry. Breakfast is s self service set up but your tea/coffee is brought to your table and you can have eggs or waffles made by the chef at the hot food counter. I am afraid to say that I would not be returning anytime soon sorry.

As Gold Marriott members we were upgraded to a suite which was lovely, very spacious and well equipped. We received a really lovely welcome to the hotel on Friday night - we'd checked in already online and everything was waiting for us. Staff we met were all very pleasant especially the barman on Saturday night (unfortunately we didn't take his name). He particularly provided excellent service. Restaurant staff very good too.
