We choose this hotel because of it's location and because it was a Marriott Spa hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. The staff were very friendly and professional (not just the reception staff, but everyone we met). The room and gym/spa were both excellent as well. I saw the previous comment about eating in the hotel restaurant and can't agree with that at all. I stay in lots of hotels with my job and I found this restaurant very good and reasonably priced for the quality of the dining experience. I can think of nothing to fault this wonderful hotel, other than the sauna being closed for refurbishment, but that was very minor.
A lovely looking hotel from the outside, but I think the interior, especially the bedrooms, could do with a revamp. Having said that we had a very enjoyable stay here, mainly due to the lovely staff. While we were waiting to check in we overheard the receptionist dealing with, what we observed to be, a difficult guest - the situation was dealt with in a very professional manner and the young lady in question is a credit to the hotel.
Wonderful hotel in nice grounds and settings. Staff and facilities are very good until you reach the restaurant. Great if you want a burger. But not for fine dining. When you go to a 4 star hotel you expect more than burgers. There is no A La Carte menu.
Wasn't really what we were looking for really but very last minute. Evening meal in the Zest Bar was not very good. A wedding destination but to be fair we didn't hear a thing and staff polite. Definitely wouldn't stay again as just not my vibe but it probably does what it says on the tin !
We had asked for a room near to the lift and we were given one, and also a warm welcome. Good sized room but rather warm as the windows would only open a few inches, however there was a modern quiet fan in the room which could be timed for up to 8 hours. Nice bathroom, but with the shower over the bath, would have preferred one or the other. The staff were very friendly and helpful, lots of quiet spaces with seating to relax in. The swimming pool in the spa was lovely and lots of loungers around. We had a good choice of food on the set menu in the restaurant with efficient service, and a very substantial choice on the buffet breakfast. There were nice walks around the outside, lovely flowers, and everything was beautifully kept and very clean. We would certainly return to this hotel with it's beautiful surroundings.
I had two rooms hear for two days which was a treat for my brother. we booked the restaurant for Friday night we waited over 45 mins for our starters to arrive And when we received our main course the steak was terrible so tough that I had to complain the staff where apologetic but in my opinion there is only one person to blame the chefs they need to pay more attention to the quality rather than the cost. all four steaks were of all of poor quality extremely tough the dauphinois potato was inedible and I was unable to eat it The hotel room although clean had a shower curtain I thought that went out in the 70s the rooms was dull and very old fashioned some of the lights didn't work and there wasn't a shaving mirror or make up mirror and I can't believe they charge for Internet usage £3 per hour ! they made a mess of my bill and over charged me by £350.00 all in all a very poor hotel that's desperate for new chefs and room makeovers
I stayed here with my daughter, a friend and her son. We had a very warm welcome and the children were given little packs on check-in. The hotel is immaculate and is set in beautiful grounds. The room was lovely and spacious. Housekeeping specially made up a bed for my daughter. The spa is excellent. Most hotel pools are tiny, but this hotel had a baby pool and separate area for children to swim. We ate in the Cast Iron grill and the food was excellent, although £34 for a bottle of prosecco was steep!
We stayed for one night playing golf [booked separately] followed by a swim. Really lovely reception and bar staff. If you book breakfast when you arrive it is only about £12 but if you wait and queue up for breakfast and pay then it is about £17. Very good value for money and food hot and fresh. If you join the Rewards scheme [free] then you also get free wifi. All in all a very friendly hotel with plenty of parking. Rooms were v. nice too.
My friend and I recently went to sprowston manor for a spa break and it was an amazing experience. Before we went we had heard how lovely the manor was but we were nervous in case it was snobby,we couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel is stunning and set in fantastic grounds and golf course but the stars are the staff. Every single staff member that we saw on our break went out of their way to say hello and make sure that we were having a fantastic time. The reception is welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had treatments in the spa and the beauticians really put you at ease. The restaurant serves amazing food and wine but the staff make it such a wonderful experience. I was tempted not to review this hotel so that we would always be able to get booked in but I need you to experience what we did. There is not a single thing I could fault and I will always remember this birthday treat. I have come home and booked a return trip. Enjoy!
We had a pleasing 4 night stay taking in 3 dinners and 4 breakfasts at the hotel. An attractive hotel at the front with plenty of car parking, surrounded by a beautifully manicured golf course. You can watch rabbits at sunset after having a pint at the Zest bar which is also a café and golf clubhouse separately located from the hotel but part of it. We had 2 meals in the main restaurant which is very comfortable, at one of them we had 3 excellent courses from the fixed menu. The day after we both decided on fish and chips and although it was good we regretted the choice as it wasn’t special and was unhealthily battered. We tried the Zest bar and the pasta meal was alright but seemed a bit chainlike, although my meat had good pieces. My wife's portion was very big. The restaurant and Zest staff were friendly, chatty and helpful in a natural way and reception were very efficient. A downside was that in the warm weather it became very warm in our room on the second floor despite a standalone air conditioner. Keeping the windows open helps. We walked to the Park and Ride to travel into Norwich which has an interesting centre. Also the Sainsbury Centre, another bus journey, currently has a good exhibition of Paul Nash. As the Park and Ride and local bus services are different companies only Google gave us a full list of services which enabled our trip to the Sainsbury Centre to go very smoothly. Nearby at Wroxham are boat tours and hire. Brickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall, both National Trust are good. Felbrigg is our preferred house, the garden is special. Also the Air Defence Radar Museum near Horning is good, as is the Muckleburgh Military Collection. Norwich has the latest type of speed cameras which seem more concealed and there are average speed cameras on the ordinary roads in the surrounding country, neither of which we'd seen before. With all those tractors and lorries on the 100 miles to the motorway going north who is going so fast?
