Had a great three day break at Sprowston Manor Hotel breakfast very good great variety of food, golf course playing well even after all the rain we have had, swimming pool and spa area is excellent, WiFi and phone reception is very poor standard in this day and age had to repeatedly feed in a password for WiFi, all in all a nice relaxing place to visit staff very friendly and helpful.
Thirteen of us stayed at this hotel on a golfing package for my 65 year old friends stag doo. Very pleasant spacious rooms with massive flat screen TVs and plenty of channels which include sky sports. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice including omelettes made to order. Evening meal was a bit pretentious and needed more veg than the “nouveau cuisine” approach. Drinks expensive but very pleasant surroundings and the staff were really top notch. Excellent gym and pool with towels provided as you enter the fitness centre. The golf course was well drained even allowing buggies out on a very wet weekend which was welcomed after three rounds. The course is not particularly picturesque however, I understand that it was completely redesigned 17 years ago which explains the huge number of young trees. Would go back again
Sprowston Manor hotel and golf complex is situated outside Norwich, but only a short drive away. A friendly welcome is guaranteed every time and the hotel is roomy and comfortable. Rooms are good and I have sampled 4 so far. The food is excellent whether its breakfast or dinner. Amenities include a swimming pool, Sauna, Steam room and Jacuzzi. I cannot speak highly enough of the manor. Downside. None, except maybe the log fire could be lit without as much smoke in the reception area. Even then the smell is quite nice.
Spent 2 days on a golf break with a good mate. Arrived in plenty of time with a 14-00 tee time. Golf kit unloaded went to the putting green for a little while cafe nearby open from 7 till 5 so had a tea and was ready for 18 holes. Starter on 1st tee so all very easy, although we had a lot of rain we both felt course was bearing up very well. Round completed booked into room which was a good size well appointed and clean. As was on 2 day deal dinner was a set 3 course meal (with choices) or you could choose from alacarte menu and get £25 reduction. We chose set meal which was fine. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style with good choice of hot and cold. Tee time was 10-00 which was ideal. Round completed we both felt we had had a good couple days golf at a good all in price. Worth having a look at.
Participating in a Ladies weekend at this hotel was a mixed affair. The hotel itself was welcoming with pleasant staff, a clean and comfortable room and good service. Even playing the 9 holes of golf at an exorbitant price of £20 for a mediocre course, as we were not allowed to play 18 ??? The cost for 18 was £25 !!! Anyway, apart from the exorbitant bar prices, London hotel prices in the country at £4.45 for local ale the major disappointment came at the gala dinner. The food was atrocious. A lump of chicken, overcooked leeks with soggy and rubbery roast potatoes. Minimal gravy supplied. Lots of plates returned with most food left. Staff were pleasant and attentive but let down by the food served. Breakfast was good though.
Receptionist very friendly and helpful on check-in. We had an excellent meal with relatives in the private alcove off the dining room. Service was slow but friendly. Mainly the food was excellent but I was very disappointed with a starter described as “pear, blue cheese and walnut tart”, which I expected to be in a pastry case but which was a topping served on a huge lump of bread or pizza dough. Our room was too hot and we couldn’t find an air con control so we had the window open but the room was still hot and stuffy. Apart from that the room was comfortable with a nice bathroom, tea and coffee facilities etc. I thought, given that the hotel had a spa, it was odd that a robe was not provided – apparently you have to be in a suite to get a robe! I had a nice swim in the hotel pool though. Our main problem began when we tried to get some sleep! We had some extremely noisy and inconsiderate guests on our floor. A man with a loud, carrying voice was wandering the corridor talking loudly and there was a lot of knocking loudly on a door next door but one to us. This knocking continued spasmodically throughout the night, sometimes we could hear a woman’s reply. At 4am I went to the door and mouthed at them to be “Be Quiet”. There were two men who appeared to be drunk. The knocking continued. I phoned Reception hoping to call security but there was no reply. There were several functions going on at the hotel and I do think that the hotel staff should patrol the corridors so other guests might get some sleep!
Visited on a golfing break with friends. Pros: Great welcome. Friendly and helpful staff throughout. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent golf course with friendly starter. Excellent breakfast – they even fry your egg to order. Cons: No loo brush in bathroom. Dinner was underwhelming. Fine dining portions but did not hit the mark with quality. Interesting take on Belly Pork. Rooms first floor adjacent to pool – Sound of air handling plant humming at night might be a problem if you have an issue getting to sleep. Very expensive drinks. Presumably to encourage patrons to cut down on their alcohol intake. Very public spirited. Expensive food in Golf Club House. (If heading south on A11, Visit White Lodge Restaurant just south of Attleborough, at Breckland Lodge roundabout, for much better value). Still plan to visit again but will consider going out to eat.
We use the hotel once a year for our exhibitions. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean. The views of the grounds are amazing. The facilities are very good and in particular the pool and spa options. The bars and breakfast area is comfortable and in good decor. The service is second, definitely recommend this facility
We had a delux double room with two children. The room and facilities were great. Evening meal at the cast iron grill. Waiter was very polite as were the restaurant manager and hotel manager that evening. Starters took 45 minutes to arrive which I felt was a little long but there were two power cuts to deal with (30 seconds each). Quality of starters was very good. The main meal then took a further 40 minutes and when it turn up my main course (bbq ribs) was under cooked and anaemic in colour with a squirt of sauce. No side dishes(Mac and cheese, chips, onion rings) arrived and we were told there would be a delay 5-10 mins. Both children were Asleep by this point. Both the waiter and boss thought it was very poor but not unusual. Other guests had walked out of the restaurant already having given up with the delays and poor food. Very kindly the table next to us shared their starters with our children before they fell asleep. Final straw was the find out the bottle of red wine contained milk and eggs in the label...whilst I don’t have an allergy I’m sure there are others that would like to have known.
Here for a work event we checked into our good size room, noting lovely bathrooms and headed to lunch at the 'golf club' which was the only option. Service like Fawlty Towers is all I am saying about the 2 hour 1 course experience.... All catering except the self-serve buffet breakfast has a laid back manner. However slept like a baby in a comfy bed and just wish I'd packed my swimsuit.
