Sprowston Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club4.0 out of 5.0

I am local to the area and have often been to the Hotel over the years for various functions, overnight stays etc. I have, however, also recently joined as a Leisure Member and use the pool and gym facilities on a regular basis. It's always clean, equipment is up to date and all the leisure staff are great. After my gym & swim I generally head to Zest for a coffee, I'm nearly always served by the staff member Ersin who is just wonderful. Would most definitely recommend Sprowston Manor to anyone!
I joined the gym here as i literally live down the road so despite it being more expensive than most gym's it's easier to visit and free parking! The gym is small but usually you can be the only one in there and it has everything really you could need, although it would have been perfect if there was a smith machine or leg press. The pool is really luxurious and i really enjoy visiting for a swim in the evening, it's great when it's quieter but if you go during the day there are a lot of children and can be quite busy!
This is my third trip to Sprowston Manor as a golfer. We chose it as the last two years the course was immaculate. That was not the case this time unfortunately. The tee boxes were restrictive with only about 6 feet between the yellow markers. The greens were in a really poor condition. The 'halfway house' was closed. The food in the evening was disappointing - a few of us ordered the lamb and feta burger which was close to being inedible. All in all it had the feeling of a place which has gone through significant cutbacks.
We stayed at this hotel for 2nights to attend a family wedding nearby, had a lovely stay, spa and pool lovely, great friendly staff, Room was very comfortable, food was delicious and breakfast excellent to set us up for a long wedding Day, would definitely return if ever in Norwich again,oh and not forgetting the yummy cocktails, that went down a treat! Thanks to a great team 😊
We visited Sprowston after phoning to check it would be ok to come and look around. We are planning an event next year and wanted to see the amenities. Ten minutes later we were greeted by Malcolm the concierge and we can only say that we were not disappointed with Sprowston Manor nor the informative and knowledgeable tour that we had. Thank you Malcolm.
Our party of 16 had a great few days here. Elegant hotel, not too big with a great reception area. Golf course was terrific, lovely food in our private dining room, friendly and attentive staff, bedroom was lovely although a bit too hot even with the aircon. Spa was good and the pool facilities were marvellous. Would definitely come here again. Easy ten minute walk to the park and ride too.
This is a really nice hotel. Elegant without being too formal, with a homely feel in a traditional country manor setting. The staff were all friendly and attentive and the breakfasts and evening meals were most enjoyable (with local ales on draught). There is a small gym and a nice pool (complete with mini "desert island" in the middle!) for a relaxing swim. We used the hotel as a base for touring Norfolk by car, and the location is ideal being very close to Wroxham and the Broads, and also within easy reach of north Norfolk's coast without needing to drive through Norwich to get there. It is also a short distance from a park and ride site which allows free parking and a fast bus into central Norwich. As this is an older building the one downside is that the rooms are not air conditioned, but a quiet and effective freestanding fan unit was appreciated. All in all a very enjoyable stay in a lovely part of England. I hope to try the golf course next time!
Room was lovely and quiet. Staff were lovely. Pool was great and quiet. Bed was lovely. Shower was great. Air conditioner in room was handy as it got quite warm in the night. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of fruit, cereal, soya milk, veggie sausages, mushrooms, beans, hash browns. We loved it. We didn't have dinner so can't comment there, however, we dined at Namaste Village in town. We think it's the best vegan restaurant in Norwich. If you are in Norwich we recommend it. Castle and cathedral worth a visit too.
Location close to Norwich, the hotel is lovely with great service and spacious rooms. We used the spa and pool facilities both if which are excellent. The buffet breakfast was great and we also arpte in the evening in the restaurant which was good food but quite pricey. Only negative was the price of drinks who had are extortionate. Would recommend.
We arrived on bank holiday Sunday for a 2 night stay. The prices increased considerably for a 4 nighter which put us off staying longer. We had visited the leisure facilities before so were looking forward to enjoying them again. Unfortunately this was a very popular choice as the pool area was chocca for most of our stay. Our room was bright and pleasant. A little attention required from housekeeping; mismatched mugs and glasses, stained room service menu, no teaspoons and food left in the fridge from the previous occupant. There was a disturbance outside our window when armed police made an arrest in the early hours of our 2nd night. None of the staff seemed to be aware the next day? What really needs work is the food and beverage offering. The staff seem pleasant but lack direction, keep guests waiting and ignore the phone when it's ringing constantly. Dinner was poor and I left most of it - no mention as to why from the waiting staff (are they used to this?). The barman didn't seem to have much idea about wines, when we asked for a glass similar to the bottle of Malbec we'd just enjoyed, he didn't have a clue. Weirdly, we then saw a guest wheel up his own room service order from the bar along the corridor! Breakfast on both mornings was terrible. Cold food, just partially cooked hash browns, rubbery scrambled eggs, poor quality sausages which were lightly cooked. On our 2nd morning, the buffet was moved due to refurbishment. Although we were one of the 1st down (due to be awakened by the kerfuffle outside our room), the 'hot' food was inedible as the heat lamps were not working. I pointed this out to the waitress who agreed I was right, but really the chef should have checked this before - he wasn't exactly busy. We were really disappointed as Marriott hotels are generally pretty good so sadly we won't be returning to Sprowston until they can sort their food out.
