Poor access to room, top floor and no lift, not pointed out when booking online. Filthy upper staircase. Rattly window. Nowhere to sit apart from bed, paid more for city room for extra comfort or so we thought. Only two pillows ( one each).

The lady who checked us in was evry abrupt and disinterested. As if we shouldnt be there. Yet when greeting the gentleman after us this was totally different. The room was absolutely disgusting. Very dirty as if it hadnt been cleaned for a long time. Also very very noisy all night with a loud humming. Not sure if this was a heating system or not. But the room was freezing on arrival. Fridge in room is lovely if it worked. Person in neighbouring room playing music until very late. The room booked was a double. Two singles pushed together is not acceptable. Inable to sleep close to my huaband due to the big gap in the middle. The hotel was much worse than a premier inn or travelodge and you dont expect this.

Hotel is in beautiful surroundings. Building itself needs updating. Room very small. Receptionist not as knowledgeable as can be expected about local area. Restaurant sadly lacking in gluten free options available for people with gluten intolerance/coeliac disease. I ended up having two starters instead of a main course, because that was the only option available. Staff sadly lacking in knowledge of what gluten free actually means.

Very Nice Hotel

Very nice hotel. Room was spacious and had a nice bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did not use it but the swimming pool looked really nice. Cricket ground is an easy walk away.

Booked a double city room but won’t book again. Room very very small. Only one bedside light. Only one bedside table so I had to put my stuff and drink on the floor. Tiny wardrobe. No chair. No desk. Bed uncomfortable and only one very small pillow each and pillows were rock hard. Had to make a special request for a room with a window as it seems some city rooms come without one! Ie like being in a cupboard.

A tired & grubby hotel with can’t-be-bothered staff, awful food and dirty bedrooms. Jacuzzi hasn’t worked for weeks but is still showing as an available facility on the hotel website. Restaurant was fully booked, taken up by 3 coach loads of pensioners for both nights we were there. Breakfast was dreadful, cheap & nasty ingredients left to fester on a buffet, waiter slouching around with egg yolk on his tie, pure class… I would t go back there if you paid me.

We were surprised on arrival to be told that the hotel did not offer daily room service (cleaning), but would respond to requests. We have never stayed in a hotel where daily room service was not normal. I think we should have been told this before booking. On the fourth morning, my bowel condition caused me to leave a serious mess in the toilet bowl; I had noticed that there was no toilet brush in the bathroom, so reported this to Reception and was told no rooms had toilet brushes. On returning after a day out, I was pleased to see that a toilet brush had been put in the room, but horrified that they had not cleaned the toilet bowl, where the mess had hardened making it much more difficult for ME to clean it. I think this was terrible! Otherwise we enjoyed our stay, though we found choices limited and no lighter alternative to the "full breakfast" @ £12.50.
