If you book a HIE you usually know what you get, and that is the case here. The rooms are very spacious, typical HIE rooms. The TV was way too small for the room. The A/C worked well and was surprisingly quiet. We had a small roach in the bathroom which my sneaker took care of. Welcome to Arizona, One thing I noticed at arrival around 7 pm were 5-6 plastic bags filled with trash in front of one room. That mountain grew over night to about ten bags. It was still there the next morning at 8 am. Did not a single hotel employee see this in a space of 13 hours? Unlikely, as an employee room was right across from the land fill. My wife tried breakfast but came back and said it wasn't worth it and that the breakfast room had the ambiance of a train station. One good thing was that there is a sports bar right next to the HIE so you can have a quick bite to eat at night. Just be aware that everything closes at 10 pm in this town. Plenty of self parking (no security, but you won't find this in Nogales anywhere) and the business center had everything you need in working order. Given the other choices in Nogales, this is probably still your best bet. Run of the mill HIE.
Utilized this location for daily business access to Nogales, Mexico. Pros: Clean and quiet. Breakfast with room. Breakfast selection varied with options. Large rooms. In room refrigerator and microwave Friendly staff Cons: Inadequate lighting around exterior Difficult room numbering Small exercise area. Opportunities: Nothing to do in the evening. Only activity is sports bar across lot. Overall: For intended use a good property, staff, and amenities.
I am not the typical hotel guest as I am a hotelier. This was not my first choice to stay but the hotel I normally stay at was full. The first negative experience was at check in when the desk clerk announced my room number in front of other guests in the lobby. For a woman traveling alone, I was very concerned. As an owner and operator of a hotel, I usually inspect the hotel rooms I stay in. When I reached my room, I found the safety lock was not working properly and the maintenance man had gone home. The front desk clerk did not have a solution to correct the problem. Then I pulled the filter out of the air conditioning/heating unit and discovered it was incredibly filthy. This is a health issue. My guess is that it had not been cleaned in months. I was told the next morning that housekeeping has a cleaning schedule but from what I saw, I do not think they have been following their schedule. The cable access was very confusing and difficult to operate. The mattress pad was torn. I felt the price of the room did not justify the quality of my stay. I do have to say that the hotel was quiet. After this experience, I will never stay here again.
We were only there for about 6 hours of sleep, but the room was large and nice and the hotel was indeed pet friendly. There isn't much of a place to take a dog to the bathroom (our dog isn't trained to go to the bathroom on concrete or asphalt). The breakfast was very adequate and I found healthy choices. It was clean, quiet and safe (we had all of our worldly goods in or on top of our SUV). It's well lit, patrolled by security and well laid out. Good stay; wasn't cheap, but was worth it.
The staff was great to my wife and kids until I arrived for b'fast one morning. My wife is Mexican-American, and my kids appear Latino at first glance. Once I arrived in the b'fast area the staff yelled at my wife and tried to embarrass my wife and kids for not having a voucher. We'll never stay at another hotel in Nogales again. First and last time at an IHG property.
Nice and clean. Very welcoming atmosphere. Lots of free parking. Room very nice. Location is very handy to Interstate but is quite quiet. Decent breakfast at hotel included. Good Kuerig coffee in room. Pet friendly with a 25.00 fee.
I've stayed at both the best western and holiday inn express in Nogales AZ. I like the holiday inn better. It's a bit more expensive but worth it. Very large room with comfortable bed. Standard self serve breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
We tried bw but no pet policy. We hav e a groomed beautiful lab. No worries it gave us a chance to find this opportunity to get familiar with Holiday Inn xpress. What a relaxing , professional treat this was. Treated way above standards plenty amenities with fair cost per stay. Employees here.....forgetaboutit, they are the best and kind, courteous, non-pretentious group you can ask for. Wow, I like the old saying " you get what you pay for" Days inn is a slum compared to Holiday Inn express. Wonderful experience.... two thumbs up. Thank you and see you again HOLIDAY EXPRESS! !!!!!
The evening desk clerk was fantastic. Could not have been nicer. Gave us a room so we could kee an eye on our car full of our stuff. She even moved her car so we could. The room was nice and quiet and even dark for a hotel room. Morning breakfast was in a nice room and was about average.
We stayed here one night while traveling thru to Mexico. All the amenities one could want or need. The hotel is clean and spacious. Breakfast was just okay. I wasn't impressed. We reserved two rooms. They put us right next to one another. Enjoyed our stay.
