A well-established, organised and very clean site with great facilities. Great location for walking the coastal paths, mountains, cycling, visiting the area and Almeria. Good little supermarket, bar, book-swap, swimming pool and terrace. Showers, laundry and washing-up area always very clean and available. Friendly, helpful staff in Reception and supermarket. Will definitely return to this site.
Have just spent a week here and don't have a negative thing to write. Great pitches, really great WiFi, lovely showers, great facilities and the restaurant was cheap and great food. The waiters are a credit, nothing was too much for them. We had our dog Charlie with us and the walks in this area are incredible. Would highly recommend a visit and we will be returning :). Thank you for such a lovely week.
We rented a bengali tent for 10 days in August and absolutely loved it. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of kitchen utensils in the kitchen area. The campsite itself is great, probably the best we've ever stayed at, as you're right in the middle of the Cabo de Gata natural Park. The communal areas are kept clean at most times and the salt water pool is excellent. I would like to especially mention Juan Luis, who gave us excellent customer service and suggested a million and one plans for us to do as soon as we checked in! He even booked us in for a night walk in Rodalquilar to see 'the rain of stars' on 13 Aug. The icing on the cake of our stay was the delicious paella that we ordered in the restaurant for lunch one day... Definitely a must!
Cat.1 camping with all facilities to have a good day. It is quiet in the night (mainly because most of guests were families), there is a lot of space in the parcel for one car and several tents and the bathrooms are clean (with a big shower). The swimming pool is amazing, with Jacuzzi and surrounded by palm trees and desert mountains.
This is a campsite that also offers chalets which we had. On arrival made to feel very welcome but only one member of staff checking guests in so had a little wait. Chalet of average standard. It is listed as kitchen having basic utensils, we could have done with a kettle and toaster and bath towels rather than an extremely small towel for everyone. We would have brought them with us however after emailing to clarify it didn't appear to be necessary as towels were provided. Our bathroom was quite dirty not through use but dust through an open window, reception said they would send a cleaner, they never came. We were aiming to visit Mojacar, therefore this site was ideal, and it was a bonus to return from our journey and go into the beautiful pool and have a drink at the bar. It must have been our lucky day as it was two drinks for the price of one at the time we visited. The site could easily improve the chalets by replacing the dining tables which have been etched into, provide a kettle and toaster and bath towels.
The pictures we saw during our research reflecting a cozy bungalow are very deceptive. The reality is the bungalow looks plain and cold. The power went out in the entire complex on Saturday evening and there was nothing to do but to go to sleep. And in the middle of that same night, at 1:15 a.m. to be exact, a man came into the bungalow using his own key. It scared us to death and when I called the front desk to report this, the security guard answered the phone very apologetic telling me that he went in to turn off the porch light because he thought we had already checked out. Regardless of his apologies, this was unprofessional and unacceptable. The water is non potable. The only positive was a very good wifi service. Also, the prices at the café are extremely high for Southern Spain, you pay double than what you would at any typical Spanish bar/café plus the service was very poor. Overall, very bad experience.
We visited this campsite in our motorhome for six weeks over December 2015 - January 2016 and really enjoyed the peaceful setting, warm sunny weather, walks to the sea about a mile away and longer walks in the surrounding mountains. We have stayed on many campsites in Spain and believe that Los Escullos is really unique, being set within a very beautiful Natural Park, close to the coast and well away from urban development. The campsite is an oasis of green shrubs and palm trees. All the facilities are good but are nether the less currently being upgraded. There is a very friendly atmosphere and Los Escullos is very popular with dog owners. There is a small shop and restaurant on the campsite, an excellent shop at Las Negras about 8 miles away and a Mercadona supermarket at Campohermoso about 12 miles away.
We stayed in our motorhome on this site for a week at the end of November. The site is perfectly situated to make the most of walking and bike routes, a guide is available from reception for €10. The scenery in this part of Almeria (when you get past the plastic) is stunning, volcanic formations draped in green, the bluest of seas and an amazing coastline. It's very, very quiet in winter, you'll struggle to find a shop open so the well stocked supermarket on the site was very handy, fresh fruit, bread, milk plus lots of other essentials. The site restaurant does tasty and good value meals all day, from a hot breakfast to a specialty fish and chip evening. The staff in the restaurant are really friendly, it's a pleasure to eat there. There are themed evenings throughout the week, even live entertainment on a Saturday. The facilities are in the process of being updated, that said they are kept very clean, with copious amounts of hot water. The wifi is free, fast and available on all the pitches The site isn't perfect but the improvements will certainly move it that way, along with the helpful and friendly staff it's an ideal place to spend winter.
Well-kept bungalows not far from the sea in a camping with good services. Crowded in Easter but still calm in comparison with other beach destination in Spain. The household needs updating to be on par with the camping facilities.
we have lived in Spain for many years, but we have never visited Cabo De Gata, so we decided on a cheap weekend away and chose a bungalow at Camping Escullos, which would place us centrally in the national park. The accommodation is not new and needs updating but perfectly adequate for a fun weekend away. Although there was only 2 of us we had a 2 bedroom bungalow, 1 bedroom with a double the other 1 single bed and 2 bunks. Fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, shower room (plenty of hot water),a separate toilet , lounge area with table and 4 chairs, television and outside patio with large table and 5 chairs. The staff were multi lingual and very friendly and helpful. There is also a supermarket on site for provisions .As it was out of season when we were there the campsite was quiet, but I can imagine it's very busy in season. Cabo De Gata is a very beautiful with rugged scenery. We loved San jose town and we intend to return early next year.
