This is my go to place when visiting Nice. I was thrilled to return (my 3rd visit) in April with my daughter. My husband and I had visited twice before. The hotel just completed a renovation when we were there. It was very tastefully done. We booked a room with a terrace which is well worth the extra money. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting on the terrace in the morning and every evening. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop deck with a bar, restaurant and pool overlooking the city. The hotel is perfectly situated between the Promenade des Anglais (and the beach) and the train station. We liked the quiet residential area the hotel is in. It is a quick walk to the center of town and the old city. We loved being a 10 min walk to the train, because we did several day trips to Monaco, Cannes, Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Ventimiglia- Italy. All these cities and others are less than an hour by train. I must mention, the staff is top notch and did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. Nice is the perfect place to stay and there is no better place than the Splendid Hotel & Spa. I look forward to my next visit!
I recently spent 2 nights in the Splendid Hotel whilst participating in the Nice-Cannes marathon. I booked a marathon package at a very reasonable rate. Check-in was friendly and the staff were very helpful and happy to answer any questions that were posed to them (there were a lot) and were happy to correct me if I made an error with French (it had been a while since I spoke it!). Room was nice and spacious however it was quite dated and was disappointing not to have a balcony, although I accept not everyone can have one. Dinner the night before the race was very good, plenty of pasta dishes, perfect for carb loading, as was the marathon breakfast at 0430. The views from the restaurant on the 8th floor (top) are superb and you can get a full panoramic view of Nice from up there. Definately a highlight. I did not have dinner the 2nd night, however the dishes were well priced. Breakfast the 2nd morning was a little disappointing with not a huge amount of choice. Although it is a buffet breakfast, I believe that 19€ is very steep. I did not use the gym facilities for obvious reasons, however they are in the process of being renovated. I didn't use the spa either, as prices were steep, but again, it is a spa! The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the train station and 5 minutes from Promenade des Anglais and the beach. If I was able to give an extra half star rating, I would. I will look to stay in this hotel again next year for the marathon.
The Splendid Hotel is a upscale hotel with a very good location. You are within walking distance of the old town and a few short blocks to the beach. Our room had an enormous balcony/patio. The highlight was the rooftop lounge...tremendous views and a warm atmosphere...staff were friendly and the food was excellent.
Found that this hotel was reasonable, friendly and in a great location to see the sites in Nice. The roof-top pool and bar was a bonus. Very comfortable and the staff were terrific, spoke excellent English and VERY helpful.
Absolute luxury this hotel and spa. Room was so big you could ride a bike in it, free wi-fi, bathroom had a very large spa bath and seperate shower. A verandah that stretched the entire length of the room big enough for 20 people, and a bed I could be happy to live in the rest of my life. The roof top was split into se rooms and levels with a bar, restaurant, swimming pool, spa area, covered seating and lounges, an eating/drinking level above the bar and a further higher level full of comfy lounges with a 360 degree view of nice. The day spa was discounted as a guest of the hotel and the staff were amazingly engaging speaking multiple languages with ease. 5 star hotel worth every penny
My wife and I stayed in a deluxe room on the 4th floor for a week on a B&B basis. The hotel is located approx. 10min walk from the seafront and lots of restaurants close by. The room that we had had a large balcony which was great for sunbathing. The room was large with a bathroom with spa bath and separate corner shower. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice. The restaurant for breakfast was on the rooftop with fantastic views of the city. The breakfast had a good choice and tasty. Also on the rooftop were lovely seating areas and a small swimming pool. The drinks at the hotel were expensive but that is the same throughout Nice. Our room faced onto Rue Gounod which was quite noisy through the night with passing traffic, bin lorries emptying bins and workmen digging up the road at 7am. This was not the fault of the hotel, however, a bit annoying after a few nights. All in all we really enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it if you fancy a trip to Nice.
Brilliant hotel! Great location, friendly bi lingual staff, very clean and tidy, lovely big comfy beds, really good breakfast with lots to choose from while eaten on the warm roof terrace, which also has a pool with awesome views. Super value for money.
The beds were comfy, the breakfast was adequate and more wallet friendly than any place in the city, and the WiFi was fast in the rooms. We had a dolux suite , and found our room very larg specialy as the hotel was in the middle of the city in France. It is by both the coast, the train station and shoping alley. Only problem would be the swimming pool: we didn’t really get to use it because they never cleaned it during our trip in the autumn. Great stay for a big city and lots of exploration outside.
I took my wife back to Nice for our 28th wedding anniversary and loved the place all over again. We stayed in the Hotel Splendid which is a 4 star hotel, the room didn't let us down however the restaurant menu was not as good as 3 years previous. The rooftop lounge, swimming pool and jacuzzi was a great place to retreat to for the last day, the whole 7 day stay was great we were both really relaxed and once again had a lovely time, would highly recommend the hotel, just make sure you request a refurbished room, they really are worth it. If staying for any length of time you need to visit the old town, they have a different market each day of the week and the place has many little side streets with shops and churches to visit. We would always walk the length of the Rue de la Liberte where there is a great number of places to eat and shop until late, we found one particular restaurant that we frequented often that served a great varied menu, I don't like lasagna but ate a whole one at "Le Lodge" the owners were really nice along with the people that worked there, all very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Unlike another restaurant we tried, "Le Milo's", the food came out cold, tasteless and the waiters were very inhospitable and unfriendly, would not recommend at all. If you have time we would recommend taking the hop on, hop off open top bus tour, at €22 each it is well worth it, although we would suggest spending an extra €3 each which allows you to use the bus over two days. The whole trip has 16 stops where you can get off have a good look around and hop back on the next bus that comes around at any of the stops, you are given new in ear headphones where you plug in and listen to the guided information, the length of time you spend on the bus is entirely up to you, a great trip out.
Amazing rooms and service! We stayed there for our offsite last week. They accommodate our early check-in, and were keeping our bags after check-out since our flight was later in the afternoon. Rooms were great, having both bathtub and shower, and good view. Also, hotel is close to train station (10 min walk), city center (10 min walk) and sea (5 min walk). We even got complimentary drinks in mini-bar. Definitively would recommend!
