The Hotel Lafayette is a really nice hotel, the rooms are quite big with the bathrooms. Some rooms have lovely terrace looking on the street. Every morning we got breakfast, and we could ask for our car a private parking place near to the hotel entrance.
This was our first visit to Nice. I researched hotels and wanted a nice comfortable 3 star hotel that was close to the rail station and the old town. We were not disappointed with Hotel Lafayette. It was about a 10 minute taxi ride from the rail station in traffic. To check in and get to the rooms you have to go up one flight up and there isn't an elevator so we did have to carry our bags up. The staff was so friendly and our room was wonderful and included a small balcony area where you could look out and see some of the city. The bathroom had a nice corner shower and an electric toilet which was a first for us. The breakfast was terrific, they offered eggs that you could either soft or hard boil, breads, pastries, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee and was included in the price of the room. The location was perfect. It's about 3 blocks from the old town. There were so many small shops and restaurants in the area. Across the street from the hotel was a small bar/restaurant, Le Loft. It was a great place for a nightcap and a snack. We walked the city and always felt safe no matter what time of day it was. The hotel was a short taxi ride to the airport and took about 15 minutes to get there with little traffic. We walked the Promenade des Anglais which stretches on for miles. It was beautiful. Nice France was one of the highlights of our trip and we would love to spend more time there and we would definitely stay at Hotel Lafayette again.
When first arriving the staff was welcoming and willing to let us keep our luggage in their storage room. They got our room ready early so we were able to check in quickly as we arrived. Unfortunately once in our room we quickly discovered that the sheets were not changed and had someone else's hair all over them. When asking for clean sheets management was quick but when being replaced no sheets were put on the bed they were only taken off. Later on our stay, keep in mind that we were only there for two nights, there was a horrible smell coming from our bathroom. We went to the front desk and brought it to their attention. The front desk associate said they could not send someone until the next day (after we checked out) and she didn't even ask us what our room number was so they clearly had no intention of fixing it. It didn't just smell bad, it made our entire room smell like a sewer. We had to keep our door shut and it the smell made me physically ill with a migraine. In the description of the room it also stated a double bed but when arriving it was two twin beds pushed together with separate blankets on each side due to them not having supplies for a queen size bed.
The good thing about this Hotel it is central and clean. We travel to Europe regularly at this time of year and very rarely have cause to complain. However, this is one time when a complaint/s is/are needed. The rental car is always an issue, so I contact the Hotels prior to ensure the car can be accommodated and if so at what cost as this influences our choice of Hotels. The same process applied with Hotel Lafayette. I received a response to advise the Hotel have parking at 10E per night that was fine we eventually parked the car at the carpark and at Hotel reception we were told to get the ticket validated prior to paying at the car park which we did and anticipated it would be 20E for 2 nights. Well surprise surprise it was 38E as we didn't move the car during the day we were charged an extra 18E = 38E. Also the room was so noisy on both nights as there was road works and pipes being laid outside our window until 2.30am, The first night we thought, just a one off, the next night it was worse. The internet was also so poor it worked periodically and when we travel it is important as my partner needs it for work, after hours of trying to submit a document he gave up. I mentioned the noise to the receptionist when we paid, the response was they can't control the road repairs, however they are given months of notice but its hard to know when the repairs will occur. Pipes dropping on concrete until 2.30am outside their bedroom could be cause for the management to take some interest. We didn't , mention the excessive charge at the carpark , we were not told about or the internet as I have no doubt the degree of concern with a nice smile would have been nil.
First class beds and bathrooms, super friendly and helpful staff, and the location is perfect to visit the old town in Nice. We were three friends and three nights. Our flight to Nice was delayed, but the helpful man in the reception was waiting for us at street level at one o'clock at night, to carry our suitcases. A little noice from the street, but that must be expected in one of the main streets near Place Massena. And we could have closed the balcony door if it was bad, there was a well functioning air condition.
just back from 5 days at this hotel, reception is up a flight and a half of stairs.reception staff were very very friendly and helpful at all times, the room was a good size and the shower in the bathroom was good, the room was cleaned very well each day and was spotless.did not eat at the hotel so cant comment on the food, overall we had a great stay at this lovely place and we will be back next time in Nice.
Small hotel next corner from main shopping street and short walk from the beach. For a 3 star hotel it was a good suprise. Room was clean and enough big. Bathroom and toilette were separate The best was very very friendly personnels. I have been travelling a lot. This was one of the best experiences.
Small hotel with clean rooms and very friendly staff. The location is great, close to all you need, shops, pietonal center, beach and station. I think this hotel is a great option on a budget in Nice.
Situated just a few hundred meter from the Massena place, this hotel is ideal for those who want a very centrally located hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms not so small as we have had in other Nice hotels. Everything clean, and the price is lower than one can expect. It may be a problem for people with difficulties in stairs, as the reception is on first floor, and there's no elevator. But you don't need to be afraid bringing heavy suitcases, as the receptionist helps you to carry your luggage up to the reception. All in all: Absolutely recommendable!
The hotel is very very near Galeries Lafayette in the city downtown. It is a 3 star hotel but, from several points of view, we could consider it a 4 stars indeed! Big camera, apart the easy possibility of hearing the closest room, unfortunately. Very good price as well
