The Grand Hotel

Beautiful, historic hotel overlooking the bay.

The location is near-perfect: right on the waterfront, right across the car park from the rail station and the car hire. It's a nice walk to the beach and then to the marina area where all sorts of restaurants and pubs abound. Highly recommended!

Best Western Duke Of Cornwall Hotel

Quaint classic

This was a lovely historic hotel but I was upset to find the heat turned off in the middle of the night. I hate getting up to a freezing room. The old windows rattle and clank in high winds but there is a triple layer sun/wind blind to pull down. The bed was extremely soft, if not too soft a mattress, and the duvet failed to cover my feet properly. Therefore my feet were cold each night

Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport

Incredibly convenient to Exeter Airport

If you're traveling to the SW of England, Exeter is a really nice airport to deal with--small with nice short lines and pretty good connections. This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the terminal (there is a shuttle too if you have bags) and is pleasant, clean and efficient. Nothing exotic or with great local color, but that's not what it's trying to be. For what it is--a place to stay immediately on arriving (we were driving out the next day) or before an early morning flight, it is perfect.
