Wyndham Newport Onshore

This is the second Christmas I've stayed at the Wyndham. Great location on Thames Street. Easy walking to everything. The room was pretty spacious and nice. However, very drafty windows. All the comforts of home in the kitchen .

I loved that I didn't have to wait for my late risers to go out and walk along the historic waterfront and shops. Its in the middle of it all. I could be out for a morning stroll and back before they even missed me. There are many restaurants within a few blocks (some of the best even) It is much easier to walk then to navigate the narrow roads and search for parking. Even in the winter when it is not as busy, parking downtown can be difficult. This resort offers one (and only one) parking spot to guests. The accomodations are spacious and clean. One room had two twin beds which my tall girls felt were rather short but very comfortable. That room had a closet with the heater so it was rather loud when it switched on. The Master bathroom was large and comfortable as well. The Unit had 2 decks one on either side, one of which looks over the docks and water. the decks were large and had a 6 person table on each to enjoy outdoor meals. They were covered so you could be out there even in the rain. The kitchen was full sized and stocked with the things needed to cook meals. The kitchen cupboards were showing their age with the veneer at the corners starting to peel and some of the knobs were barley hanging on, however it was clean and functional for a large family such as ours. An apartment size washer and dryer is located in each unit which is very useful. They stocked it with 2 packets of detergent to get you through the visit. There is a covered heated pool which is open even in the winter and an outdoor one for the summer season. The best part of this hotel is that you don't really have to drive anywhere unless you want to go to the grocery store or the mansions. It is also a place we could entertain our local family.

We stayed here for my birthday weekend. There were five of us in a three bedroom. The suite was two floors with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. There was a full kitchen a dining area and living room. There were three decks with one of them overlooking the ocean and pool area. The kids loved the indoor pool. We’d love to stay again in the summer to take advantage of the outside deck area. With the full kitchen we made breakfast and lunch for the kids each day. Rooms were very spacious. A little dated but there is some refurbishing going on in another building. We had our own assigned parking spot close to the entrance. We will definitely be back.

Checking into this place can be a bit of a challenge. They run multiple offices and the one on site is often closed so you must go up the block a bit to register and check in. The assigned parking is very tight if you drive an SUV but it's mostly under cover and not too far from the elevator. There are multiple buildings and your parking is usually close by. The condo was in good condition and well supplied. The views from the veranda as well as the small deck off the kitchen presented views of the best yachts in the marina area. A close walk to many restaurants but if you are touring the Preservation Societies homes you probably need transportation.

Perfect location for girls weekend. There were 5 of us and we loved our apartment (2 bedroom 2 bathroom w/pull-out sofa). We were able to walk everywhere downtown (restaurants, bars etc). There is also free parking BUT we only had one car so it might cost if you have 2 or more cars. Everything was very clean. There are beautiful views from every window (we were on the 3rd floor). I will definitely stay here again. The only thing is the check-out time is so early (10:00 am). We asked for a late check-out and got to stay until 10:30 hahaha. I Love Newport - It’s a very friendly city, beautiful, with a very interesting history.

Perfect location right in the middle of several restaurants, bars, and shops. No need to drive for dinner, several options within easy walk. The unit was spacious, clean, comfortable, and had a nice balcony. Full kitchen with everything I could have wanted. We had no complaints at all, and will stay there again. The office closes at 5pm, so if you plan to check in after 5, you would need to check in at the "sister hotel" down the street.

Upon arrival as a family of 6, we learned our rented timeshare was under repair and would not be available to us. We were relocated to a unit in the same building. This unit was smaller than ours and therefore not to our satisfaction. Darcy, the General Manager, was most accommodating and we were reassigned a remarkable 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit that was magnificent and to everyone's liking. We were very impressed with the attention given to us in rectifying this problem. Darcy followed up with us during our stay to make sure we were satisfied with the accommodations. Daniela, at the front desk, was an absolute pleasure to deal with during the check in process and during our stay. We have been coming here for over 20 years. NEVER have we experienced a nicer and more helpful staff at this wonderful resort. Kudos to Darcy!

A nice location and property. Very comfortable. Great for a short visit to Newport to enjoy the sights and be in a great convenient location and near everything that you might like to walk to or see in the area.

I bought this timeshare sight unseen last year, but was very pleased with the very large 2 bedroom/2 bath unit we have on the top floor with stunning harbor views from one of my balconies. The well appointed condo was a great home base right in the heart of Thames Street with a full kitchen and laundry. The staff was very friendly and reacted quickly to requests. However housekeeping was supposed to visit the unit once to clean and replace supplies, but didn't despite 2 requests to do so. The only negative. We had an awesome vacation and can't wait for next year.

This was the first time for us to visit Rhode Island. Of the six Wyndham resorts in the Newport area we chose the Onshore, and were not disappointed. The check-in was smooth, friendly, accommodating. The location was exceptional: right on the Newport Harbor where there are numerous sailing schooners, yachts, etc in and out of the harbor. For us (we like to walk) the location was walkable to the Historic District, and close to numerous shops and restaurants.
