The roof top is what really sets this hotel apart. We enjoyed watching the sunset from there while having drinks. (They make great margaritas!) We also ate there one night and the food was very good. The staff is extremely thoughtful. "Fae" gave us a in-depth, helpful orientation and we were especially thankful for the management (Miguel, who may be the owner) allowing us a very late check out as our ferry didn't leave until the evening. The welcome drink and welcome service was also a nice touch. The room was very comfortable and clean and close to the beach.
This was our second visit to Naxos - one of our favorite islands for the incredible array of gorgeous beaches. The hotel is first class in every way: from rooftop breakfasts to concierge service from the hotel staff. Our villa had a jacuzzi on the large patio with lounge chairs. The beach is steps away all great restaurants are easy to walk to. I accidentally left my jacket when we departed for Santorini and the hotel couriered it to me on our next island. Naxos island hotel is indeed a five star, stellar service property. And We definitely return!!
I have been traveling for 30 years and have a fair understanding of what constitutes a 5 star rating. The property is run by 2 or 3 people at any given time. The roof top pool is nice with a great view but the bar is just sad! The room we had had very dated furniture and the bathroom fixtures although locally made, were poorly designed, you couldn’t brush your teeth without soaking the counter or take a shower without flooding the bathroom floor. I decided to take a bath and after making myself comfortable realized that the plumbing and drain we in the opposite places so one could not lay in the tub without either having a faucet poke their head or a drain. There is more.. The Breakfast buffet was a joke and it would be something you would find in motel rather than a property rated for 5*. We sent laundry in and it came back rolled up and damp and stuffed back in the bags we sent it in. The bed did not have a comforter, just a fitted sheet with a folded top sheet sitting on it. The internet connection was useless for anything other than a quick check of email. Although, you can see the water from our room, it was by no means “ sea view”. The property manager( maybe owner) was very proud of her hotel and gave us a 30 minute orientation when we checked in down to the specs on the toilet seat. She made a point to tell us that “we try not to be posh but authentic” I don’t want to malign the place but we trusted their website to give us accurate information and the rating system to provide a standard and a level of expectations. Also, my girlfriend and I were absolutely bewildered once we re-read the 5 star reviews that this property received and were the bases of booking. I want to reiterate that we were NOT mistreated in any shape or form the staff were kind and friendly. I just felt it was obligatory for me to offer an accurate assessment of the hotel.
We had a marvelous time at naxos island hotel back in July , both the rooms that we engaged were spotless clean and very comfortable and the service in the hotel from the manager :owner including all staff in the reception and bar was absolutely outstanding, the location is excellent ie only few yards away from the lovely beach of agios prokopios, certainly we will be back again next summer
This allegedly luxury 5 stars hotel is nothing of this kind. The suite was very poor not quite comfortable with very simple furniture and without much light. The quality of the products of the bathroom was very basic, for example there was no hair conditioner and there was always a not very good smell. Unlike other hotels we stayed (5 stars) in beach areas the towels were changed only once every day and the products of the bathroom were refilled only in the morning and only one of each (bath and gel and body lotion) for 2 persons. The positive thing was really the jacuzzi. The breakfast was also very simple without much variety. The staff was efficient and attentive but the general manager seemed not to be very honest. When we arrived we made a tour by the hotel and his words were the following: the mini bar had not many things but anything you want just ask and it will be in your suite as quick as possible free of charge. We do not have coffee machines in the rooms but whenever you want just ask and it will be in your room as quickly as possible free of charge. During our stay we asked for 2 bottles of sparkling water and they were delivered quickly but with a cost of 5 euros. When I claimed they said the free of charge was only for the coffee. I did not insist. As a matter of fact in all the hotels we stayed in Greece 2 bottles of water were usually delivered daily in our room free of charge but this hotel was special. We had to go to the airport during our stay to pick up our bags that had not arrived with us (3 days after our arrival) and they said it would be better to use the transfer of the hotel because it was less expensive than a taxi because these would charge double of the amount to go and come back. The amount defined by the hotel was 15€ but when we settled our account the amount was 30€ (to go and come back). I did not argue and paid everything. I definitely do not recommend this hotel. For us it is a 3 or 4 stars maximum because of the jacuzzi. Really a big disappointment.
We visited the restaurant of this hotel and we were excited! The facilities were very nice and the view was incomparable! You can enjoy the beautiful sunset in a view of Naxos while at the same time enjoying the tasteful seafood of the restaurant. Also the prices were logical and it was one of the most beautiful experiences on this island.
The hotel was ok. The guys on the rooftop were awesome re service. However, we had a really bad experience overall. On day two of our stay, the housekeeper mistakenly threw out my contact lenses which were in their case on the countertop of the bathroom with all our other bathroom items. I don't know why she chose to throw out the case but I would hope this was an honest mistake (which she admitted to) on her part and I was willing to let it go as long as the hotel reimbursed me in a timely manner. The issue for me is that I have an eye disease (kerataconus) and these lenses are both very customized and 2) very expensive. I am a visual artist and had saved for three years for this trip and brought along a high end DSLR camera to capture all the beauty of Greece. After losing the lenses I could not see well (my glasses do not help substantially as any Kerataconus patient can attest to). Villegas, the hotel manager, felt very bad and even wrote a letter of admission that they were responsible for the loss. I contacted my optomotrist and they made a new pair for $300 which I received when I returned from Greece. A few days after our stay (and about six weeks before this review) I sent over the $300 invoice (which I had already paid) to them as well as their insurance agent. I had hoped for a quick resolution to this and I would chalk it up as an honest mistake by a hardworking housekeeper and that be that. However, six weeks later I still have not received payment from the hotel or their insurance agent and have been told by their insurance agent that I would not be paid. I expect the hotel to reimburse now, however I have not heard anything more from them. This is $300 that I am asking them to reimburse. I paid more than $800 to stay at the hotel over three nights. From a customer service standpoint, this failure to reimburse a customer's loss (which was the hotel's fault) is something that I find really contemptible. I loved Greece and loved Naxos. The hospitality and service we received over our 11-day stay at other hotels was amazing at every stop-- but I would never stay at the Naxos Island hotel again due to how this situation has been handled. I will update this review if the matter gets resolved.
I loved the roof to[p pool and restaurant and the views of the setting sun. One of the best on the whole island The rooms where very well appointed and extremely comfortable. The service was impeccable as was the food for breakfast and dinner. I would wouls highly recommend this hotel to someone looking for an excellent small luxury hotel experience on the beautiful island of Naxos.
My husband and I spent 6 nights at Naxos Island Hotel whilst on our honeymoon. We loved every minute of our stay! The hotel is in a great location - close to shops, restaurants, bars and the beach! The roof top area with the pool is fantastic - The view is second to none. The staff working were all very friendly, helpful and professional. My husband and I enjoyed talking to Alexandro (Alex) each day. He gave us great information about the island and made us feel very welcome. He also showed us the moon and some planets on the telescope located on the roof top area, which was a very cool experience. HONEST NOTE - If you are looking for pure luxury and a “5 star” experience (similar to 5 star resort is Australia), you may wish to look elsewhere. This hotel was perfect for us but does lack luxury added extras that some travellers may be looking for.
The rooftop restaurant is not to be missed! Great food and an amazing view! Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We traveled with our two teenage daughters and stayed in one of the family rooms which had a common entrance but a separate rooms. It was perfect!
