Naples was the the first leg of our Italy trip and Grand Hotel Oriented was our first home base. We stayed here for 4 nights while we visited the Amalfi Coast, Pompei, and other areas during the day... At the start we're weren't sure where the hotel was because it seemed different (from the photos) from the outside. But wow, the place is great! The staff and service was excellent, rooms were clean and spacious. We even had a balcony facing the water. The roof deck was to die for! Spent many sunsets here having Aperol spirtzes - which I learned about from the bartender. The breakfast buffet was really good. So many choices and fresh ingredients. Lastly, for any restaurant recommendations please look for their concierge GIUSEPPE - he is the BEST! The places he shared with us were all amazing. He was laughing because our kids were craving for Burger King one day but was kind enough to show them where it was. If you ever to Naples (which can be a bit chaotic), please do stay in here. A hidden gem in a this gritty city full of character...and pizza!
Really enjoyed staying here. The hotel was an oasis of calm in a fun but hectic city. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Air con was very efficient, and coped well with 'Heatwave Lucifer'! Front desk staff were very helpful. One spent some time talking us through a map of Naples and offering various cultural and restaurant recommendations. We followed up on most of these and all were excellent. Breakfast was served in a lovely, sunny room on the top floor and most days we sat outside on the balcony overlooking the city. Unfortunately the view of Vesuvius is partly blocked by a residential tower block, but the wider view is nonetheless great and was a very pleasant way to spend breakfast. We had food in the bar a couple of times, which was very good and very reasonably priced for a hotel. The parmiagana was excellent, as were the arancini. We found the location very convenient - the labyrinth of historic streets starts about five minutes away, while the seafront district around the castle is a ten minute walk along via Toledo, one of the main tourist drags. This street starts just along from the hotel. We used the hotel as a base to explore Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as Naples. Naples Central station is an easy but boring 25-20 min walk. Instead we got on the tube at Universita station which is about 5 minutes from the hotel. The next stop on this line is Garibaldi underground station which (confusingly!) is the name of the metro stop that sits within Naples central station. We flew back from here and the airport was about a 20 minute drive from the hotel. The hotel arranged the cab for us. All in all, we found the hotel central, convenient and with warm, friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
Stayed at the Hotel Oriente for 5 nights. The decor of the hotel is very stylish and seems to have been renovated recently. The room was very comfortable and clean. The air conditioning and wifi (available throughout the hotel) worked really well, a must for hot weather and teenagers! The water pressure in the bathroom was also very good making for a good shower. All of the staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to help you in any way possible. The breakfast room on the top floor had a beautiful terrace where you could have breakfast and enjoy the views of Naples or you could stay inside the air conditioned room. The bar was also on the top floor and again you could have drinks outside on terrace or inside. The hotel is in a great location, just steps from shopping and the tube 'Toledo'. Everything was in walking distance, including the port where you could get ferries to Capri and Ischia etc. We fell in love with Naples, an exciting city with lots to do and great restaurants and the people are very friendly. Can't wait to visit Naples again.
When a co-worker learned we were going to be staying in Naples, he recommended this hotel, and I'm so glad we experienced Naples while lodged at the Grand Hotel Oriente. I had a very good experience at this hotel. The hotel is ideally located, just a very short stroll from the Via Toledo and all the many interesting shops and restaurants, not to mention several gelato options. From our hotel, we were able to walk to various points of interest around the city center. There is also a small supermarket around the block, where you can buy water, drinks, and other snacks. The front desk staff was always professional, friendly, and very helpful. They helped us with directions, restaurant recommendations and taxi requests. When we requested a taxi every morning, they would say it would be coming in three minutes. But, it was almost instantaneous -- the taxi would arrive in what seemed like seconds. The air conditioning was also so refreshing. After a day of walking and sightseeing, the cool lobby and rooms were welcomed. I was fortunate to have a renovated room, with tile instead of carpet. The room was very comfortable, well-sized, and very clean. As much as I enjoyed being out and about in Naples, I always looked forward to returning to my comfortable room. Some of my travel companions did not have the renovated room, so they preferred my room to theirs. We partook of breakfast every morning on the 9th floor. In addition to the fresh cheeses, eggs, bacon, sausage, meats, breads, yogurt, cereal, juices, they also had these delicious cakes and pastries. I love Nutella, so I was in Nutella-heaven with these tasty treats. I found Naples to be an amazing place, and I'd love to return and bring my family. When I do that, without a doubt, I will choose to stay at the Grand Hotel Oriente, which was very impressive.
We really enjoyed our stay! When we arrived, the blast of air con in the nice peaceful lobby was so welcome after coming through boiling Naples. It was an easy journey from the airport on the metro to the excellent Toledo metro station. When we were checked in, requesting a balcony and a high floor was no problem whatsoever for the man who greeted us. The room was very smart and had a lovely balcony on the 8th floor with views onto the street and far out to the mountains and the city. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I was also very impressed by how quiet the air conditioning was in the room and this ensured good sleep. The hotel really is spotless in all the private and communal areas. Quite a contrast to the streets of Naples which is a truly exhilarating but somewhat gritty city. The hotel is located near the historical centre and has medium/high end shopping to one side and the crowded lower end shopping streets and bar areas to the other. It was easy to walk to anywhere we wanted and a great base to go to the port for a trip to Ischia and the train to Sorrento and Herculaneum. Breakfast was more than adequate and served in a great cool room, with the option to eat outside on the balcony if you wanted too. The bar area is as spotless and stylish as the rest of the hotel and we had a drink up there on the last night. When it closed, nobody hassled us out of the comfortable seating area and we were left to finish in our own time. Overall I really can't fault any aspect of this hotel or the price for a genuinely comfortable four star experience. Naples is a great city to explore and see a buzzing, vibrant genuinely Italian urban experience and the hotel should give all the relief that could be needed to recharge for more adventures.
I love this place. I've stayed there twice and both times, everything was excellent. The front desk staff are not just helpful and not just friendly, but completely charming and very funny. I emailed them in advance and they responded immediately. Every time I asked, for directions anywhere, either for walking or taking public transit, they were amazingly informative. The rooms are gorgeous, the wifi works everywhere on the property, the rooftop restaurant/bar is stunning and they have the BEST pillows. I loved their pillows so much, I bought one before I left! Oh yes- the location is BRILLIANT! Steps from shopping, a 12 min walk from the Archeological Museum and one tiny block away from a subway stop.
Naples (or Napoli) is a rough town especially for those who aren't used to city life. We stayed there for 2 days at the Grand Hotel Oriente. The front desk staff was professional, courteous, and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of shopping and dining. The hotel rooms are standard size for the area. The dining area is at the top of the hotel with windows to see the city. We had breakfast there for 2 days and it was really good. The bar is on the same level as the dining and we hung out there a few nights as well. I'm not sure if I would return to Naples but if I did I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
The Best location in town, Supermarket nearby, Lots of good restaurants and shops. Rooms are tastefully decorated-We were in a stunning suite, We were with two children. The reception staff and the dining room were Friendly and welcoming. The maids cleaned every day. The hotel has parking and this is very important!
Surprisingly brilliant considering what we paid for it Great location . Best thing for me was the standard of decor and cleanliness in our bedroom The bedroom had obviously been recently renovated and impossible to find fault with The bed was very comfortable The rooftop bar is. It to be missed Also the guys on reception were very helpful Highly recommended
Recenlty had a short stay at the handsome Grand Hotel Oriente and although it does not look like much from the outside, nor does the lobby look great, the room and rooftop terrace more than made up for it. We had a suite which ran about $250 a night, had a living room and bed area., the bathroom was large and exceptional. There was some wear and tear in the room 9i.e. there was some cracking on the walls), but I ascribe that to the volcanic/seismic activity. The rooftop area is exceptional and gives you a nice glimpse of Vesivius, although much of it is blicked by a tall unsightly apartment building nearby, but you also get a nice view of the hilltops of Napoli. The breakfast service was exceptional, with wonderful fruits and exquisite ricotta and other cheeses and real freshly squeezed OJ. The location is great, just nearby if the Toledo metro station, which is truly stunning. Also can walk to the Piazza Plebescito and Cafe Gambrinus, can even walk to the old town area on the water, with amazing views of bay of Naples and vesvuis, Ischia, Capri, etc. Had some amazing food down there. All in, a smart hotel in Naples in a great location, relatively safe, as it;s busy during the day--we had no problems.
