This beautiful hotel has amazing customer service. The hotel is in an excellent location on a charming street. Meliana at the front desk was extremely helpful! I will recommend this hotel to friends and stay again if I return to Naples.
We booked a 3 night long weekend, the hotel is in a great central location although like others we found this quite noisy from the student bars nearby which saw people spilling onto the street at all hours. Having only one small lift and no option to use stairs was irritating particularly as we were a group of 8 and we had to wait for everyone each time we were either coming back or going out. The room seemed recently decorated although we couldnt use the drawers. The bathroom had some plumbing issues with a leaking sink, a loose toilet seat (which got taken away, refitted and then replaced) and a lack of water pressure for the shower. Staff were friendly although oddly wanted to discourage us from a restaurant reservation we'd made even offering to cancel it for us.... We went and it was great. Overall the location was the best point for this hotel being in the centre of the old district with plenty nearby to walk to.
The hotel is almost hidden away on one of the historic city center streets. The lobby, your first introduction to the building, is modest, but our experience of the hotel was quite grand. The staff was so very friendly and helpful; the breakfast room has you dining in the elegance of a 16th century Palazzo; the rooms are quiet and comfortable, and excellent restaurants are a short walk away. All this for what we considered a very reasonable price. I would not say anywhere else.
We stayed four nights. Our arrival was a bit chaotic as the taxi driver (strangely) had no idea where the hotel was, so we had an unnecessary tour of grubby streets. But once we were in the hotel reception our perceptions changed. As many reviewers mention, the staff are good and the location is excellent. Visitors to Naples must expect noise grime and graffiti but the streets around are also very charming in their way. Being close to the University helps and hinders the charm. Our Friday night and Saturday night were disturbed by a lot of noise from young folk in the street and made worse by a noisy bar that stayed open till late, The night-manager was very apologetic - apparently the police have attempted to deal with this problem and have failed. Generally though the area is nice and quiet and the windows keep out a lot of Naples noise. Shops in the local streets sell interesting things like musical instruments and leather bindings for students final works, books on law etc etc. The rooms are good, beds are comfortable, the many odd corridors have interesting public spaces & lovely furniture, and the breakfast area is simply magnificent. Overall the hotel is very nice. It's a pity that some minor details are not right. The one small but perfectly formed lift is really not enough to get people up and down; yes there is a fire escape but it takes some finding. Our friends had a beautiful antique chest of drawers in their room which couldn't be opened because the drawers are designed to be pulled open with a large key, which unfortunately was missing. The wifi on the first floor was rarely usable. The staff made promises to deal with these two things but only on our final day the wifi worked beautifully. The drawers could be used with the aid of a stick. The restaurant recommendations from the staff were great!
We only stayed one night, but we certainly appreciated the very comfortable, high-celinged room with enormous tiled bathroom and huge Paris style windows opening on to a surprisingly quiet street. The best breakfast we encountered on our 28 day Italian trip was elegantly served in a very beautiful salon. All the staff were welcoming and helpful, and it was an easy walk to the amazing Archeological museum. We really enjoyed our visit to noisy, grimy, fascinating Naples and would love to return to stay longer at this hotel.
The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. The breakfast room and music area are beautiful and worth seeing. We were just there two nights but enjoyed it. Good location. Good restaurants and shopping nearby.
Stayed here for one night. Hotel is well located and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was good but service could improve. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom. The food was good but there were no clean tables and it took some time for them to clean and bring us plates, cups and refill coffee. Front desk was friendly.
We were here here for 5 nights and this was the best contact I have ever had with any staff anywhere in the world. The room and dining room staff, Enzo, Pina, Viviana and Sabrina were very attentive and efficient. The front desk staff all of them were great for advice for taxis and where to go to experience good food and sights. The hotel provides a coloured booklet of sights and walking itineraries that I have never seen by any hotel anywhere and is better than any tourist handout. Combined with the map that the hotel gives you and you need nothing else to realise why Naples is on the UN list of outstanding places Loved it all and continue the good work Decumani Hotel de Charme. You certainly charmed me. Cheers
We stayed at Decumani for two nights in August to support a quick tour of Amafi and Pompeii. The staff and service at the hotel are great and the hotel is located centrally but a good 40min walk from the main strip by the water. We came from Rome so the cleanliness of the city (as well as graffiti) took some getting used to. Finding the hotel from the train station isn't hard but the hotel is located in a side street which is secluded and feels slight sketchy. The hotel itself is modest and is showing signs of wear/age. The thermostat for the room temp was controlled centrally by the front desk and several calls were needed to get the A/C to an appropriate level. The service staff at breakfast were fantastic and the food choices were excellent. Overall an acceptable place if you can get a discounted price.
We had only one night, this location was superb! The charm of the Hotel outstanding, and breakfast was excellent !! You can quite easily walk to attractions, food, shopping, we enjoyed the Hotel, Naples not so much .... Kinda sad how graffeti has gotten outa hand and defaced statues :(. We wonder if in years to come people will wish they had been less brazen ... We wonder....
