not sure how the star rating works in Italy, on hotel UK hotel ratings this was a 1. The only saving grace was that the female receptionist was extremely friendly. If you want a decent breakfast don't eat here. You get the bare minimum as they do not have a kitchen - processed meat and cheese, the cheapest of cornflakes, squash not juice, very hard rolls, coffee and weak tea (two bags required) and the table cloth was stained. If you are English speaking be aware that if you want to catch up on English speaking news, there are no English speaking channels on the TV
Small rooms, good location. The beds were very hard an the rooms were average. Breakfast was simple but the coffe was nice. The price we got online was ok. The location is a good starting point for exploration of the old town of Napoli
Spent 10 days at the Caravaggio Hotel at the begining of June this year. It states it is a 4 star hotel but would say it was more of a 3 star. It is set in a small piazza behind the Duomo Cathedral. The room have a very high ceiling making the room cool. The room was very clean with matching furniture. Two single beds had been put together but it was very comfortable, there was also a bed settee but that had seen better days. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and clean towels provided every day. Complimentry shower gel and soaps were also provided and replaced when used. The view from the bedroom looked onto a courtytard which was surrounded by residential appartments. This outlook was very shabby but beyond the hotels control. A basic continental breakfast was provided, which was enough for us. Wi Fi was only avaliable in the reception area due to the thick walls of the building. The staff were outstanding, very friendly, chatty and helpful, The only thing missing was a inviting area to sit outside. The Carrivaggio is located int the heart of the historic centre and is within walking distance of the Museum, the catacombes, the metro and train station .It is surrounded by local shops, restaurants and cafes.
We stopped here for a week. The hotel was clean. Our room was quiet and cleaned every day. The hotel is centrally located off via Tribulani where there is lots to see. The church opposite has an amazing Caravaggio alter piece. The breakfast was lack lustre. Bread cheese ham yoghurt . The same every day. It's hard going for a week which is why I've marked it down. The breakfast was not 4 star hotel worthy. We were concerned 're the location given previous reviews of dirt graffiti etc. However be aware..Naples is dirty and graffiti covered. Our first night I was wondering why we had come. But the location is safe and the people are friendly. The trattoria across from the hotel is a good place to eat and you can watch the Neopolitans and their kids while you eat.
Much in this hotel was out of date, so much so that I was expecting to see a sign saying "Frank Sinatra slept here ( and we haven't changed a thing since)." ! The other problem was the front desk staff, some of the grouchiest old guys I've ever run across. They were probably fighting over the young guys in tight pants who worked as maids. And the clutter of old record books looked as if they had been there since the '50's. They were certainly sticking with a theme. It was a "chore" if you asked the front desk to recommend more than one restaurant. Never mind asking for directions! On the good side, some of the rooms were updated, but the chances of Tri Adv clients getting those are slim. [Really, you think the hotels are going to let customers paying cut-rates use the best rooms? No.] There was a great view of the harbor from the breakfast room and the location was pretty good.
I have spent three nights un this hotel. Each might costs 180€. Things that we found in The hotel: - beds are so small -Breakfast is so ridiculous, there is not even a toaster.. -There is no heaten on The room -When we arrived late from our dinner se has tomado wait for The Man on The reception for a while as he was taking and incredible nap, we could hear him snoring.. -There is no wifi apart from The reception... The only good thing: location This hotel seems like a hostel more than a four stars hotel. Awful!
We stayed in this very central hotel in Naples to go around the main places in the area. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and reachable. Very good breakfast as well. The Hotel is clean and well maintained. Every problem we had was solved immediately.
For the price...around £70 per night we thought this was poor value. The rooms are bland and functional. After the first night we had to change rooms as it was so noisy from the street. It is very convenient for the historical centre of Naples and about 25 min walk from train station. No wifi in rooms, only in lobby. The breakfast was spartan. Just a few slices of ham, plain rolls & croissant, modest choice of cereal and juices. No fruit, no salad, no pastries very plain and minimal, they don't even provide a fork to eat with. Just a knife!? Staff pleasant and helpful in a basic kind of way. The building is very old but modernised inside in a functional style so old character is lost and not particularly impressive. It's an ok place to stay but as l say for the price I think it could have been a lot better. Compare my review of Hotel Sonya in Rome.
Located in the old city of Naples and conveniently located near many sites within walking distance. The staff are friendly and helpful in giving directions and suggestions. The breakfast was decent but not overboard . The hotel is rated 4 stars but I feel it falls short of this. Our room was clean although very Spartan. The baseboards in our room were broken and cracked and the shower had pink mold around the entire edge. I would rate the Caravaggio as a 2 stars hotel.
The hotel is in a great location, in the centre of the oldest part of town, close by the cathedral and within easy walking distance of several rail and metro stations. Despite being in the middle of an extremely busy neighbourhood, noise was never an issue. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was simple, but clean and everything worked without any problems. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a place to say while they explore Naples and its surrounding towns.
