The food was good and the service rendered to us by Stephen Mburu was top notch. He went out of his way to ensure that our birthday dinner was good and moved us to a different restaurant within the hotel,as the outdoor restaurant was not conducive.A gem and a half of your staff
I originally stayed here in June/July of this year (2019). This was an extended trip which ended up spanning several weeks. I intend to list the positive points and the areas in which improvements could be made to enable other travellers to make informed decisions. I went for business. Initially, there were many things lacking, very slow service, yellowish water, a swimming pool that was green with algae. there was also a misunderstanding with rooms booked which led to a frightening wake-up call in the middle of the night. We were all very close to leaving and finding alternative accommodation. Room service was incredibly slow, it once took an hour for bottled water to arrive in the room. However, after discussions with the GM and his staff, we were able to relay our problems and try again for a second time. The team at the Windsor worked incredibly hard for us and we noticed a sharp improvement. They did make us feel at home which was well needed. Things I love about the Windsor: The facilities - if you like golf, swimming, running, walking, cycling or the gym there is something here for you. The Scenery: it is rare to find such an expanse in Nairobi, the golf course is surrounded by a beautiful forest with amazing wildlife including monkeys, and many many types of birds (you can ask for a bird watching afternoon - which is not free, but I saw over 35 different species of birds) The staff: there are some absolutely spectacular staff who went out of their way to help us. Particularly wanted to thank Mina for all that she did for us. Rooms: although slightly tired, these rooms are very lovely, and when the water was working properly, the shower was great. The chefs did really make an effort to give us a variety of food as well which was appreciated. Things to be improved: As to be expected with a long stay, the longer you stay the more you find that can be improved. For the next person or people that stay here for multiple weeks, in particular, it would be good if the hotel could cater specifically for them in various ways to allow them a bit more freedom in the day-to-day. The televisions in the rooms are ancient, not very sharp, are not 100% reliable and really could do with being replaced. They could also do with having a wider variety of channels like other hotels in their price range in the locality. It would be nice to have a pen and paper to be able to write down notes, which was not in my room for the whole stay. Having an alternative to dry cleaning for long stayers would be welcome, and if washing slips are required, provide more than just the one for the duration. Larger bottles of water should be provided for longer stayers. Other things that would be good if were provided: Shoehorn, sewing kit, corkscrew, bottle opener as standard. For long stays a microwave or toaster would be nice. A shaving/makeup mirror would be useful in the bathroom (where there wasn't one). There was also a bad drainage smell by the pool bar which was hanging around for the whole time that we were there. Things to note: The pool is not that big but still good. It is heated which is nice. There is no air conditioning in the rooms which wasn't an issue when we went, however I can imagine it getting very hot in the summer. Generally mosquitoes were not an issue during our stay, however due to the location of the rooms we were staying in (cottages), there were a large number of ants that found their way into the rooms through the garden doors. Not a massive issue but would be good to be controlled. Ultimately, it is a good location if you need to stay in Nairobi for several weeks, it has expansive grounds so you will not feel that cabin fever feeling - it is also close to lots of things like the karura forest, several shopping centres and the UN district. It is likely that if I have to go back to Nairobi that I will choose this hotel again.
BBQ Lunch catered by them made us feel like we were guests in our own party. So well organized! We went to play 18 holes in the morning only to find on our return every detail asked for was perfect. Display, amenities, delicious food which was in plenty. Not forgetting the most courteous staff who looked after our visitors.
What's not to love about Windsor? My boyfriend and I checked in for the weekend and had a remarkable and memorable stay. Miss Nelsha ensured that we were settled in and had everything we needed. The staff at The Place (a hidden restaurant out in the golf course) treated us so well and were able to fulfil all the special requests that my boyfriend had organised for our romantic dinner with the help of Nelsha. Bless your souls!! The very best part of our stay was the dewy Sunday morning trek through the forest. So crisp and refreshing and we even made some new friends (the many peaceful monkeys and bird species around). It was simply blissful!
The place had clean rooms and offer good breakfast buffet. The golf course was a bliss for relaxing walks around with nice wildlife just outside my cabin. Gym is also well equipped and is open till late for after work workout sessions. The general manager is very customer centric in his approach and was always forthcoming to ensure our stay was beyond good. 18 hole golf course is good to unwind and conduct business. The heated swimming pool helped rejuvenate in cold weather of Nairobi. Looking forward to stay with them again.
I have stayed at this hotel several times. Most recently as part of a conference. The conferencing facility and service was very good and professional. The rooms are excellent and very comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is OK, but would be good if there were more plant-based options.
Out of time but only just that this hotel was a beautiful relaxing stay. The colonial style estate houses ,with super clean rooms , a little bigger than a standard room. Comfortable white linen bedding with excellent views from the bed. Hotel food was of high quality and buffet an excellently selection with daily changes . Day spa was a beautiful space to relax and the massage service was amazing. They have some real good staff & an amazing General Manager called Vijay Krishnan who made my stay And not to forget, it's a golfer's paradise!
Had a wonderful week at the Windsor. Lovely staff. All very helpful. Millie the hairdresser was a stand out success. Excellent food and service at The Place. Beautiful walking/jogging track through the forest. Do the bird walk and Coffe Farm Tour! Can't wait to go back and bring some younger family members with us next time.
particularly the salon and health spa is one of the best in Kenya. The salon staff is very friendly and know their business well. Highly recommended for visitors and current members who use the hotel facilities regularly.
Awesome Service! Great Ambiance and Modern conference facilities. Great place to host corporate events. Special mention to GM Vijay Krishnan, FNB Manager Patrick, Chief Isaac Alex, Banquet Executives like Ben, Kennedy for their efforts in making our conference successful. Rooms require bit of work, golf course was wonderful and the restaurant in the middle of forest gave us a beautiful experience.
