Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel

Stayed two nights in this hotel in a standard room with king sized bed. Room was very clean and comfortable and I had a good sleep. Breakfast buffet was primarily for a Chinese palate, dinner menu is western and Chinese, don't think there was local cuisine on the menu. The only complaint I had is that there was no convenient currency exchange on site. I had only just arrived in Kenya and had many plans for the day. I expect that a big hotel like this should be able to provide exchange service at 7 am or 6pm during the times when I am at the hotel, but actually this service is only available from 8:30 am to 5:30 PM, or something like that. The staff had no suggestions on what I should do, but I place the blame squarely on management's shoulders.

Had a group dinner at the Restaurant on the roof top. The food was nothing to write home about. The service was slow and disappointing. Apart from the view, there is nothing really outstanding about this restaurant. The toilet was some sort of makeshift structure, with very poor lighting. The name is rather misleading. Although it is named Swiss, the amenities seem to be all Chinese. Accessing the rooftop restaurant is a bit like going through a maze, with different lifts, and stairs etc. Other than its proximity to the city centre, I would not recommend it for much else.

I only gave this hotel a mid rating due to what I felt were "misleading" names/descriptions. Given the name one would think this was a European if not Swiss hotel. But you would be wrong. It is Asian. All placards, signs, etc. in the hotel are first in (I think) Chinese then second in English. That is fine - I can handle that. What I can't handle is thinking I rented a room in a luxury type hotel that ends up having no a/c in the room!! When all was said and done I didn't need the a/c to sleep but it would have been nice to have had it in order to cool down when I got into the room. Also the pics of the rooms make the rooms appear somewhat larger than they are due to the lens used when taking the pictures. The rooms are somewhat narrower than pictured. My television didn't work properly. They did come and fix it but then by the time it was fixed I was so tired I just fell asleep. The traffic noise from the open window (nature's a/c) was a little too loud but not excessive. The walls in the hotel were somewhat thin as I could hear my neighbor swearing the next morning when he dropped something onto the floor in the shower! The staff were...cordial. They weren't overly nice and I would describe it as more standoffish. But they were professional. I just didn't have a warm happy feeling at this place and due to that wouldn't stay in this hotel again. I found the Doubletree to be so much friendlier and the staff there were really nice and wanting to make sure your stay was the best possible.

First thing, DO NOT pay full price for this hotel... i think they charge $150USD for a basic room. Which in my opinion wouldn’t be worth it. We paid $70USD through a booking site deal and I’d say that’s about what it’s worth. I’ll start with the positives: the rooms with spacious and clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and location seemed reasonably good! The buffet breakfast was also nice. Staff is friendly. Some things that need improvement: branding this as “Swiss” makes no sense. You are actually staying at “China Zhongtian Hotel” and I’m not sure why they don’t just market as that. We checked in easily but the wifi/tv were not working for our entire stay, and they didn’t really offer any reasons... other then, “it’ll be fixed soon”. We went for dinner and they were having a Valentines event, looked nice. We ordered two salads and a pizza and it took 1-hour to our table. The waitress was apologetic as she was taking care of the 100-person event by herself, so that’s just bad management. Would have been nice for some updates from her, I had to seek her out to check to see if they had forgotten about us. Other things like no toilet paper roll holders and no AC (we had to prop our door open to get a cross breeze into our room to cool it down), makes it clear they aren’t worrying about the details. Making you pay $10/hour for staying a later check-out, even though hotel is quiet is also a little painful... they did wave the fee after some questioning. This is not a 4-star hotel, they need to work on details and marketing who they are and own it! :)

We stayed here for one night after safari and before going home - The reviews were tough so we weren't optimistic but the overall experience was OK at the end - The room was spacious and clean, with big and comfortable bed WiFi signal was good and there was hot water. The facilities in the room were not very well maintained (hair dryer didn't work, soap and shampoo in the the shower were empty etc). The walls are thin but we didn't experience much noise during the night, our room was in the 8th floor so we didn't hear any noise from the street as other travelers experienced. The staff in the front desk were friendly and nice but in the restaurant seemed careless and not very friendly. The food was good and breakfast as well. There was no mountain view as we expected according the the photos of the property while booking. It does seem that the hotel focuses on Chinese travelers almost everything is translated to Chinese but it didn't let us down as non-Chinese travelers. The menu for breakfast and dinner was rich with all types of food. The location is outside the city center but not very far. It took us 30 min to the airport in the morning but depends on traffic. Enjoy your stay!

Used the Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel as a hub during our visit to Kenya. Checked in and out three times between tours and other activities around Kenya. The property is clean and comfortable having recently been updated. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Be sure to go to the roof for great views of Nairobi and a swim in the pool. Be aware that the wifi strength varies room by room. It is strongest in the lobby and by the elevators on each floor. I was able to use it in all the rooms we used, but it could be slow.

Staff is exzelent but the new Management ithink is the first one working in Hotel. After 2 days no bear in Hotel not Steaks and at last day also no shower creme. This Asiem Mans i think verry good with Lap Top but shure she are not good with the gasts in the Hotel. She Looking only Lap Tot not People. For me the first and the last stay there.

Very good breakfast selection.best part. No hot water in room ..they had to bring some in a bucket when we complained. That was terrible since we were staying for one night. Room was ok. We were provided with two pillows instead of 4.

Beautiful hotel Friendly stuff Nice room and environment I enjoyed my stay at Swiss lenana international mount hotel .. Breakfast was delicious with variety of meals clean rooms and a very serene atmosphere Thank you

This hotel was called Swiss Lenan Mount hotel 3 years ago. But it has been sold and is now under Chinese management, far away from what Swiss stands for. Stayed here little over 2 months ago and it was a nightmare. Facilities are worn out and exhausted, room service took 45minutes, hence served cold, booking a room (special promotion) at the top level, was changed to the first floor. After a strong discussion, I was offered a room a few levels higher (still not what was agreed upon, but overbooked...) However, the next morning the REAL disappointment appeared; breakfast... Terrible, absolutely terrible. Terrible assortment, terrible quality, terrible interior and - to make things even worse - terrible brown water which was called coffee and the sad part is that we were expected to pay upfront and received a breakfast voucher for crying out loud. Complaints were not dealt with properly or rather, at all. So, do not expect the sleep at a Swiss hotel. In stead expect a poor hotel that - for marketing reasons - still uses the name Swiss, but is very far away from the Swiss standard.
