Holiday Inn Oceanfront at Surfside Beach

This hotel is on the ocean at sunset beach. Like many beach hotels it is pretty worn but well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The sunset beach area is close to myrtle but slightly less busy.

This was our third stay at this hotel and it's a really nice hotel. But it had been four years since our last trip to Myrtle Beach and the hotel is starting to look a little rundown. The carpets in the hallway are filthy, the towels have stains on them, the showers that get the sand off of you from the beach are broken. Now, this in no way interfered with our trip and we really enjoyed ourselves. It's just that you would think with a rate of $399 per night that everything would be in tip-top condition. All of the staff are very nice but they won't go that extra mile to help you. But like I said, this didn't inconvenience us at all and when we go back to Myrtle Beach we will probably stay there again. It just seems like it needs an overhaul with the minor details in the cleanliness department. But you can't beat the view from the balcony and the pool area. It is right on the beach. And Surfside isn't nearly as crowded as downtown Myrtle Beach. Oh, and a word of advice if you plan to stay there-make a special request not to be placed on the second floor if you want a balcony room. You can hear every single thing from the pool area from there. Very annoying!!

average hotel. staff friendly. PRICE WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too high

Nice location away from all the commercial establishments.

I stayed there with my family and the staff was great. We did have some issues. The rooms were really small for a Holiday Inn. If you go out to the balcony do not close the door. The stick that you lift up to keep people from sliding the door open will also fall down and lock you out in the balcony. Watch children closely just in case they accidentally get locked out. If you want to use the pool or hot tub, it is usually full of people that are not even staying in the hotel. They park in the parking lot on the side of the hotel closest to the beach and just walk into the pool area and use the pool and hot tub. We wanted to get into the hot tub and it had two seperate groups of people around with their feet in the hot tub and some people sitting in it. Then, one group got up and walk to their car and drove off all wet. We got in, then another group said, "you ready to go back to the hotel"? Then they got up, got in a mini-van, and left back to the hotel.

if you are a smoker and think you can smoke on the balcony you are wrong it is a 250 cost and if you think the rooms are going be nice thats up for debate found a empty can of snuff so the cleaning wasnt up to par would i stay there again the answer is nope

the hotel staff was a pleasure to deal with...they were all very helpful.

This was our 1st time to stay at Surfside instead on Myrtle Beach. It seemed much less crowded which we loved. It is only a short drive to the more commercialized areas if you want to shop, eat out etc. We had an ocean view room and it was great to sit out and watch the ocean early in the morning and late afternoon to evening. All the service we received was great. We ate breakfast at the hotel most mornings. I recommend the veggie omelet. We wished the air conditioner had been a bit cooler but it was pleasant enough since it was extremely hot outside. Overall very successful vacation.

We had a great time they always had music playin by the beach karoke as well as musician...the children seem to really enjoy the karoke .We were so close to the beach that you could hear the hotel entertainment there .Every one was great . We have already talked about going there next year! We do wish that the Inn offered continetal breakfast.

Wait to stay here until major remodel is completed.

Staff was very helpful. Everything was very clean and nicely decorated. It was vert quiet and peacefull. Would stay there again and recommend it to others. Also very doggy friendly and lots of places to walk.

[...] Don't have to worry about how clean the rooms are. and don't have to keep looking for a hotel that suits for the price.

The hotel staff was VERY friendly and polite and helpful. The room was clean, and just as described - no "let down syndrome" when I walked through the door. Easy elevator ride to the pool/hot tub/beach. Very nice

The hotel staff were great. [...]

Excellent all around experience. Hotel staff were very customer service oriented and friendly. Hotel location was great for those loving the peacefulness of the south end. We traveled as a couple but the location would also have been perfect for families with any aged children. Beach access was quick and simple. We occupied an ocean front room with a balcony. The only drawback we observed was the privacy walls between balconies did not extend all the way from the wall to the safety rail leaving visible access to all your neighbors balconies. Would be great for groups with multiple rooms but did tend to take away from the romance of the moment if you wanted total privacy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and I plan to stay there again in the future.

Everything about this place is great. From friendly staff to location. For those wanting to relax, you're right on the beach, or the pool is clean and staff friendly, and all the guests made you feel welcome. Just a overall great place to stay.

We liked the location of the hotel because it was close to Garden City, but not in the middle of the action. We loved the easy access to the ocean and the DJ on Friday afternoon.

We stayed at hotel from Thursday to Sunday on a holiday weekend. On Sunday we checked out because we had made a made a previous reservation at Myrtle Beach. We lasted 1 night. We checked out of that hotel and returned to Surfside Holiday for our remaining time. There were less people on beach and a great pool area. We did go back to Myrtle many times to enjoy activities but returned to our great hotel. Restaurant service and food was excellent. Planning to go back next year!

I requested two queen size beds in each room. After arrival I was told that the hotel does not have any rooms with two queen size beds [...]. There was no indoor pool and one floor was reserved for smoking (the second floor) which had to be passed going to the third floor. The price was too high for the type rooms. [...]

The location is just south of Myrtle Beach. In late April the beach was very comfortable with little to no crowds and nice long stretches to walk on. The pool is not heated, but the hot tub was nice. Rooms are a bit cramped, and when you get a room with a balcony make sure it is on the beach side and not the parking lot side if that is what you came there for. We rented Segways along the Market Common area. Lots of fun and reasonable price we thought. Lots of places to eat/shop within walking and driving distance. Drove into Charleston for a day for a harbor cruise and carriage ride through the back streets. A good way to see Charleston in a day. Would return if in the area again.
