Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort5.0 out of 5.0

Rooms are nicely appointed, but like any hotel of its stature, expensive, particularly in high season. Facilities are great, but most stunning is the view of Psarou Bay. Great access to one of the nicest beaches in Mykonos. Must have an evening drink in the lounge after reception.
We are 4 days into a weeks holiday with our adult children at Mykonos Blu. I have read the previous reviews on Trip Advisor and do not recognise this hotel from them. One previous review likens the view from the lobby to the Maldives - that person clearly hasn't been to the Maldives and sadly that view is the best bit of the hotel. The Pros are - the staff are lovely and friendly other than the shuttle bus driver last night (see cons). He obviously wasn't happy with us. - the rooms are clean but I would expect that from a 5 star property - the breakfast is fine and extra cooked items can be ordered - the hotel does have a private beach area (see cons) The Cons - there is a shuttle that runs to the town every hour and returns on the half hour. We got the shuttle last night but for a reasonable size hotel an 8 seater is not adequate. We were crammed in with another 8 people and we are a family of 4. The return journey was worse, we arrived at bang on 11.30pm for the trip back. The hotel car was already full so I asked could they come back for us. We were told we had to sit on each other's knee, my 20 year old daughter was not happy to sit on her 23 year old brothers knee! My husband also had to have me sit on his knee for the 20 minute, hot car ride back. I have never stayed in a hotel and have it suggested to cram into a car on each other's lap to get back. I have however stayed in hotels where cars have been sent as a courtesy to make sure guests are completely happy. Another option is to book private cars which are expensive but the hotel reception can arrange. We went to Buddha Bar (15-20 min journey and back for €50) - the rooms are basic to say the least. I know this is the style of Greek hotels but the rooms here need a complete refurb as do the bathrooms. Our bathroom has a shower over the bath but to climb up to the bath there are steps and then a drop into the bath that is so steep it takes a scramble on all fours to lower yourself into the tub. Getting out with wet surfaces is an accident waiting to happen. This would be funny if it wasn't actually true. The blue painted surfaces are just awful and again cheap, modern clean bathrooms are expected in 5 star hotels not tatty painted concrete. - the pool area is very shaded and needs more loungers in the sun and more loungers in general. - the pool area and a lot of the outside space is concrete and slippy and not very aesthetically pleasing. - the beach loungers are so close together and under fixed umbrellas so you don't have a choice on shade or not. I don't like laying right next to strangers so the beach at Mykonos Blu isn't for us. - as described in all the literature Mykonos Blu is near Nammos. The loud music plays from 5pm to 9pm which isn't a problem unless the music carries on to 3.30am as it did on Saturday. It was like it was playing in our room so sleep at this hotel can be an issue. My children have a 2 bed suite and the music isn't as bad for them due to it's location. - we have had 2 lunches at the hotel and again they were ok, nothing special and the choice isn't extensive. There is a beach bar called Yialos Yialos on Platis Gialos beach which does much better food. We booked this hotel as a break with our children who happen to be around this summer. Sadly it isn't as nice as we hoped nor was it an inexpensive hotel so we won't return to Mykonos Blu, it's ok but not worth a return trip.
As everything else in Mykonos, the hotel is convenient but too expensive for what it offers. The room we stayed in was small for the €510 (very special rate) nightly charges. The room lacks ample storage space. Not enough electric outlets where they are needed (beside the bed and on the work top near the TV). Bathroom lighting was too dark! The AC was very effective, in fact too cold on the "Medium" setting, too hot on the "Low" setting and there was no temperature control, just a fan speed control! Electricity failure was almost a daily ritual, generators kick in and electricity is restored momentarily but the internet (conveniently available throughout the hotel) gets lost for several minutes each time! The furniture was very simple, the decoration was mere white wash on rough plaster, epoxy painted concrete floors and walls, hardly any tiles anywhere in the hotel. I cannot say I found one sofa or chair in the lobby, reception, bar area that was comfortable! I must admit the decoration or ambiance of the place looks good, I liked it, but there is an evident "cheapness" to it. Yes some may call it minimalistic or simplistic but the fact is it is a cheaply built place, again same as everything else in Mykonos! The daily breakfast buffet we had there was really nice and the food was very good. The beach area was nice, well-serviced with friendly staff with good beach furniture and clean towels. The sea water was freezing cold, this is the open Mediterranean and this was expected. I can say we had a good time at the hotel in the sense that there was nothing that annoyed us or made us feel bad, but on the other hand nothing impressed us! This hotel is rated 5 stars by international hotel rating standards which are basically minimal room size requirements, number of rooms, facilities such as swimming pools, gym/spa, number of restaurants (one), kitchens, laundry ... etc) which were all there but not really comparable to 5 star hotels of the Far-East, the Middle East, or even Athens and other large cities of Greece. Some friends of ours were staying at different nearby hotels (3-4 stars) a little further down the hill towards the pier and from what we saw all the other hotels looked very similar to Mykonos Blu but of smaller size (perhaps even cozier) and at much less cost per night. I would probably stay at this hotel again because of the friendly cooperative staff and general cleanliness of the facilities. This may be one of the best hotels in Mykonos but that is not saying much for it! Come with low expectations and you may be pleasantly satisfied. One last note; this hotel, as almost all other facilities in Mykonos, is not suitable for the physically challenged.
Had a fantastic 12 day holiday in mykonos and big part of it was choosing this hotel. Let me start with the cons, room need some renovation and its a bet small. U will soon forget this once u enjoy their other facilities. Amazing breathtaking lobby that over looks the med sea. Kinda like the Maldives. Their breakfast is a breath of fresh air with their outside seating, delicious organic food and lovely staff that to seek Ur smile even with hipper kids like my girl. They do different themes day by day. Pool is nice and specious to relax unwind tan and have the kids swim and not bother guests. Beach is nice as well but honestly we enjoyed others on the island. Guest services are THE best i ever have seen. I do mean the best. Nothing they don't know and they state things as they are and get you tables where u need when u need. I am still waiting for a no or cant or not possible, it didnt exist in their vocab and they made it possible. Their baby seaters are polite and comfortable. They put u at ease when stay with ur kids. The one we had asked what app we use for chat and downloaded it to communicate with my wife to give her comfort all is well. Hotel transport is good to downtown or for airport pickup. Both drivers are super friendly and fun to talk too. Helful with info or just to make u smile. In fact everyone in hotel gives u that nice smile that fills u with positive vib. Thank you grecotel blu for making our holiday a great one and for beating our expectation. I do mean BEAt it big time.
I was afraid Mykonos is a destination not suitable at all for families with children. But as we never travel without our child we took the chance and take a 3 nights stay after a vacation on Crete. And Grecotel Mykonos Blu changed my beleive and I can for sure say that it is possible to travel to Mykonos and relax and party even with the child. There is a nice kids club with a free of charge supervisor during the day and you can hire a babysitter for evening and night. The hotel itself is a very welcoming: starting with the greet at the port, the welcome kit with fruits and water in the car, the check in was very fast and smooth with lots of compliments. We were given a super upgrade to the Endless Suite with a nice sitting area and a big terrace with sunbeds, jacuzii. The room service was very fast - we arrived late and ordered in room didning and they came in 5 minutes! The staff is very welcome and the concierge always finds seats in the best and most wanted places!!!
Absolutely fell inlove within a minute once stepped in! The view is breathtaking and inside feels very homey. So beautiful, inside and out. Service was great, everyone so lovely ! Recommend it ,and will be going back for sure.
Wife and I had an ocean view bungalow and at first we were disappointed, but as each day went by we loved it more and more. One of the few places that have a beach. Food a little overpriced but good. The rooms are outdated but you won't be disappointed give it a chance and it will turn into a secret you will love. At the beach there is a person I must mention her name is Vasco and she is 5 star in every respect. The hotel staff are all friendly, professional, knowledgeable and all have a warm smile for you. Would highly recommend.
Fabulous relaxing week with our 7 year old daughter. Lovely spacious room; bathroom may need an upgrade but a minor point. Own pool and garden, hard to tear ourselves away from the wonderful beach though. All staff are very accommodating. The drivers were fabulous and very knowledgeable and gave us some great dining tips in Mykonos and closer to the hotel. The hotel is in an amazing location, you can walk to Scorpios, Nikolas Taverna, all the dining options at the beach down the very short hill and of course, Nammos. Spoilt for choice. Free shuttle service into Mykonos town with such obliging drivers who made sure families returned safety to the hotel at all times, even when the shuttle was at first full - nothing too much trouble. Lovely food at the hotel but only ate breakfast and lunch. My only comment would be that the staff do not seem to promote the hotel's own dining options - but as so many within the vicinity and in Mykonos town you are spoilt for choice anyway. Having stayed at Mykonos Grand 2 years ago we would definitely consider returning to the Mykonos Blu thank you for a wonderful stay!
The mykonos blu is a grand hotel and the 1st impressions are incredible. Stunning view, cool design, friendly service and yet something is missing. We were shown to our room in this supposed 5 star hotel. It was so disgusting, it defies description. Very old, bad paint work, key to door didn't work, disgusting bathroom, no view (tho was requested) on & on. After a fuss we were shown another room. Marginally better, made another fuss and eventually got a lovely room with a view. Not great first impressions. The breakfast was lovely (the birds thought so to). No shooing them away. Yuk. Had a nice stay despite this as we were with friends. Potential, but something is missing.
Situated overlooking the famous Psarou beach where Nammos beach restaurant is located the hotel offers superb views of the bay including all of the super yachts moored just offshore. There is room on the beach where the hotel as many sunbeds on a crowded beach. The pool is quiet with much seating and a few nooks and crannies and offers respite from the heat and bedlam on the beach. The staff at the hotel are very helpful, always smiling (mostly) and are always winning to help. They’re a credit to the hotel in particular Costas and Roxanna. The rooms are clean ad bright offering the same wonderful view over the bay and beach. The shower, in our room at least, was not greet but adequate. The bed was comfortable enough. The hotel is very spacious with plenty of room to lounge around enjoying those views. The food is fine, the breakfast buffet plentiful and the bar service quick and efficient. As with most of Mykonos you are around 15 minutes from town but the hotel free a free bus service from 6pm to 1am returning on the half hor. The hotels’ also a short walk from anther beach that offers many different dinning options. It also offers a gym but there really no need as I have never been to Hotel with so many levels and steps so beware if you have bad knees! All in all a very pleasant place.
