I stayed at Makis place and was overwhelmed by their attention to detail. The rooms were excellent and the great service was always delivered with a smile. The rooms are very cozy and you feel like a Heaven. Sure will come back
Spotlessly clean, family run friendly hotel. The staff are lovely. We emailed our arrival time to Makis Place and they arranged to collect us from the airport in their minibus. Excellent restaurant. We stayed B & B, breakfast was the same everyday, but there was a lot of choice so you could eat differently each day. Boiled eggs, cold meats, cheese, vine leaves, yogurt, fruit, breads, cereals, cakes and pastries, pancakes. Juices and hot drinks. Very clean pool overlooking the New Port which is fun to watch the cruise liners and ferries come and go. The ships are quite noisy but you get used to it. Overlooks the New Port where you get the Sea Bus into Mykonos Town. It's always on time. There is also a bus stop right outside which goes to Mykonos Town and Stefanos Beach. Once in Mykonos Town there is two bus stations which take you all over the island. Back to the hotel, we were upgraded on arrival presumably because the hotel was not full. We were put in room 24 which was quite spacious, comfortable, and not the normal basic hotel that you would get in Greece, the bathroom was lovely and the shower was powerful. The room was cleaned every day. We had a safe, air con, fridge etc. There was no kettle but we took a travel kettle expecting this. However, hot water was available at the bar if required. The Restaurant was lovely. We had all our breakfasts there, one lunch and two dinners. The food was excellent. We also made friends with the little tabby kitten and the hotel cat, Luna, both cats seemed well looked after and in good condition. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
We were staying nearby but came here one night for a meal. I had a salmon dish and my husband had curried tropical chicken both were delicious. It was a pleasant place to eat however I did find the serving staff quite reserved. Would definitely eat here again if I was in Mykonos.
We were a group of 6 adults at the end of our trip through the Greek islands. We were dropped off at the New Port in Mykonos with all of our luggage in tow. We stopped into the Molarki restaurant, which is a part of Makis Place, to have a few drinks and some lunch prior to departing by ferry to Athens. Our server, George, took great care of us. All three couples ordered a Special Pizza which we all agreed was excellent. While enjoying our time there, another employee by the name of Fotis overheard us discussing our upcoming ferry trip and informed us that we might be at the wrong port to catch the boat. He placed a call and determined that the boat we were expecting to catch didn’t even exist. We had purchased our tickets several months earlier and the ferry company had cancelled the route and not informed us of the cancellation. Fotis drove two of us over to the port to help arrange an alternate sailing. When that couldn’t be arranged at the new port, he drove us over to the other port where we were able to book another boat that was leaving later in the day. We then returned to the restaurant, where we enjoyed a little more wine and food. When it was time to leave, Fotis arranged for the hotel van to deliver all of us and our luggage to the ferry! Exceptional service like this is a rare find! They took what could have been a disaster for us and helped change it to a memorable travel story with a happy conclusion. Many thanks to the staff here, particularly Fotis, for taking great care of us.
We recently had a 3 night stay in September at Makis Place and found it to be a very good choice for our stay in Mykonos. We were picked up at the airport with a free transfer to the hotel. The hotel is about 3 km from the town centre but easy to get to by local bus or water bus for 2 euro, which leave from in front of the hotel. You can walk into old town but it is very dangerous as there are no footpaths to get out of the way of vehicles. There is a small supermarket about 200 metres from the hotel. The hotel rooms were very clean and the pool was excellent. Most of the rooms have a small balcony were you can sit and watch all the activities at the new port. We had no problem with any noise at night. The buffet breakfast was excellent and had something for all tastes. The old town of Mykonos can get very crowded [ especially when 4 cruise boats come in on the same day] so it was nice to be able to get away from all the action. We had a great stay at the hotel especially because of all the friendly staff. We agree with all the other reviewers excellent comments. Thankyou to all at Makis for making our stay very enjoyable. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
We came back on 30th Sept from a wonderful two-week stay at Makis place in Mykonos. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a relaxing experience, complete with excellent service and very good quality rooms. This is a family-run hotel, and the service and staff were excellent. There is also a hotel mini bus and transfers to and from the airport were included in the price of our stay. The majority of the rooms in the hotel have been refurbished to a very high standard, and we were lucky enough to get what we thought was the best room in the hotel, number 33. The room was spacious, with a bedroom area, a seating area, and also a good sized bathroom with modern facilities (including a powerful walk in shower which was great). The rooms are also cleaned every day, with fresh bedding every other day which is rare in our experience. There are some rooms yet to be refurbished, and these are of a more basic standard, but still clean and very reasonably priced. The hotel has a lovely pool, and whilst this isn't a pool you could swim laps in, it was big enough for a refreshing swim, spotlessly clean, an ideal temperature to cool off on a hot day, and there were plenty of sun beds to go round. There was also a small kiddies pool. Pool towels are available from reception. The hotel serves a varied breakfast, which we thought was of a very good quality. You can choose from fruit and yoghurt, meats and cheeses, stuffed vine leaves, scrabbled eggs, bread to toast, and delicious pastries made on the premises. A variety of teas, coffee and fruit juices were also available. During the rest of the day, the restaurant serves a variety of meals, which were of a good standard and reasonably priced. We ate there in the evenings quite a few times as it is so convenient. The hotel is opposite the new port area of Mykonos, which we enjoyed as there is a lot going on with Ferries and Cruise ships coming and going. You can also catch ferries there to other islands, including Santorini, or even to Athens. Both are around 2 hours away, so too far for a day trip, but good for island hopping. You can also catch the sea bus into Mykonos old town, which takes around 7 minutes, and sets off directly across the road from Makis Place. It costs 2 Euros per person each way, and is worth it as it is a good 25 min walk into town and there are no pavements. Agios Stephanos is the nearest beach, which was lovely. Alternatively, you could hire a vehicle (cars, quad bikes and scooters are all available) and see some of the other beaches on the island. All in all we couldn't recommend Makis Place enough, and we will certainly be going back. Happy to answer any questions you have!
Stayed for a week and it was really nice! Picked up from airport so no hassle. Breakfast was buffet and was nice and the bar in the evening is chilled. Easy to get to places on buses and not as expensive as other hotels on the island. Really had a nice time. Staff were brilliant as the Greeks usually are!! Worth a visit!!
What a GREAT 3 nights at this picturesque family run hotel with an incredible view of the new port, nice breakfast and pick up/drop off service to the airport. The staff responded well to any request and answered all the questions about getting around the island. Rooms are clean. I absolutely loved the view from my room and the clean pool with a nice view as well. The convenience of the sea bus and bus stop directly across the street made it very easy and affordable to get around town. I highly recommend a stay at Maki's Place!
We arrived as a pair of friends looking for a retreat as a singleton and mother of three and wife of 1 husband. We couldn't have wished for more, the rooms are wonderful, special mention to Sylvia the cleaner she is delightful. The pool area is wonderful, clean, tidy and relaxed. The family that run this hotel is absolutely wonderful. Not only were we made to feel welcome from the outset, Maki passed away whilst we were here. To see the many many people arrive to pay their respects was quite something. I would return in a heart beat. A proper Greek loving family hotel that has hospitality, lovely food and lovely people. George is a star nothing to much trouble! I would certainly return to Maki's Place!
We booked this for our last night as we returned from our island hopping trip to Greece. we wished we had booked the start of our trip there too! Lovely friendly welcome from the staff, we had a transfer from the port and to the airport. It is just outside the busy town of Mykanos, however you can take the sea bus across the bay to the town. Lovely pool, lovely restaurant I would definitely recommend this hotel!
