The hotel is okay, but that's about it. Room were small, but seemed updated and clean. Staff at desk were helpful. They have went for an Italian theme, including the restaurant. The head waiter was an absolute jerk, not allowing me to sit in nearly empty courtyard for a drink without ordering dinner, despite the fact that I was paying for a 3 night stay. Also, the woman behind the bar didn't know what Chardonnay was, and they only had two red wines. The margherita pizza was horrible. I find this odd when the place was being run by actual Italians. Anyway, it was close to the metro and a few blocks away from Paulaner.
Booked on Expedia, upon arrival was told they had not received payment yet had my credit card already on file. Unable to get a refund after being charged twice for the same room, spent 2 hours arguing with reception for refund and still not sure if charge has been refunded. All this while also on the phone with Expedia. AVOID!!!
Small rooms, but big enough for two. Breakfast was good. Staff friendly. We got in late and there was no parking left, had to park on the street in a not so legal parking place. The next night there was room in the garage, but the ramp getting in and out is scary. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Located a short drive from the city center.
The rooms are clean and you can tell they have been updated. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the city center. The hallways had worn out carpet and were very dingy. I would look elsewhere for a visit to Munich.
I am from Saudi Arabia . I went to this hotel by chance,I was in a short medical trip and feeling depressed and my mind out of this world.but no body of course knew that. I really felt home with the smile every one of team has, friendly, helpful. welcoming and greeting every time you see at there faces . restaurant atmosphere is simple but has a special magical feeling .I love food and there food is good .there room is clean and practical, location is good To every one of team .... thank you.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the hotel Herzog and as always it is a very nice stay. The rooms are modern and comfortable and a good size. We didn't spend too much time in our room as we were out and about most of our time in Munich but it was exactly what we needed. The room was clean and tidy. Will definitely stay here again when we next visit Munich!
I stayed only 1 night in Hotel Herzog. It's very clean hotel with new renovated rooms and the breakfast is ok . Just few mins walking distance to U Bahn station. I will definetely will stay in Hotel Herzog when I come to Munich again. PS to Hotel Management : Pls put some bottle of waters to the rooms. There was nothing to drink in the room !
Budget priced hotel, recently renovated with an unconventional but slick room layout which makes the most of a tight space. Good quality bed linen, clean & well serviced. Friendly staff, generous 12 pm checkout & a good Italian restaurant onsite. Central location near public transport options but an easy walk to most central sights. I could have lived without the 5 sided ( including ceiling ) mirrored lift which was a bit confronting, and the place lacks decent soundproofing and hallway action gets started pretty early. But you get what you pay for, Munich is an expensive city for accommodation and all things considered this is a very good option for the price.
Stayed here during Octoberfest. Rooms and hotel looked modern on website, however they were dirty and little attention to detail was paid to the rooms and presentation. Unpleasant hotel. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We were there during their busiest time. We understand busy season but we also are paying 4 times the price.. There should be some consideration for better and more staff during that time. Overall, so disappointing. Would never stay again. Pay your monies elsewhere where people actually value you.
OKTOBERFEST! "Last night, a couple drunk men couldn't figure out the key card, so they just slept in the hallway..." - Front desk girl. Hahahaha! Hotels in Munich are freakishly expensive during Oktoberfest...we spent 3 nights here for about €250/night...this place normally costs €70-90/night! Regardless, Hotel Herzog was a bit cheaper than other hotels. Rooms are typical European sized, smaller than America, but it was very modern, clean and comfortable. It was a bit loud during the night with drunks passing through the night, being loud and singing, but thats Oktoberfest, there's no escape. Luckily I was drunk enough too to ignore the noise and fall asleep. I imagine this is a much quieter hotel during the other 50 weeks of the year. The staff was friendly, and funny too. Its also near the Goethplatz U-Bahn, so you can get to anywhere in Munich easily. Luckily, I was at least sober enough not to fall asleep in the hallway...imagine spending €250/night just to pass out in the hallway! Haha!
