This property should be delisted from Orbitz. It isn't a proper hotel, more of a transitional housing property. It was a fabulous venue 50 years ago. It is now in a prime re-development location it seems and I suspect slated for demolition in the foreseeable future. Other than a bed and bathroom, if you actually find your room due to poor signage, there are NO services or amenities here. You are given a key, yes a metal KEY on a key ring with the room number on it, that has likely been copied. Even if you accept these conditions, the price per night should be less than $50. The problem is there are limited options for hotel lodging in Mt Horeb. Plan to stay somewhere else!

The front desk person was very nice. The surrounding structure needs repairs. The rear door to the hotel was not lockable; the handle stuck partway open, unable to lock the door. The interior of the room was clean. Sound insulation was poor, downstairs neighbour was very noisy at 3 am in the morning talking to people on his phone. For $106 on a Friday night I was a little dissapointed, but had no other choices. Other Hotels in the area were about twice that price.

It couldn't get any over to the vibe of the original Bates motel. Drove up and knew I was in trouble. Room stank of smoke, the snow and ice could've destroyed any car parked close to the overhang, the rooms were painted with colors from the 60s, the wifi was terrible...I could go on and on. But I won't. Just don't go there.

If you are looking for the spit and shine of a 5 star hotel then look elsewhere. If you're looking for great value, pleasant owners and a microwave and refrigerator in your room, this is the place. I attended an event in Madison during the first week of August. Unfortunately there were multiple events and conferences going on at that time. The city was sold out unless you wanted to spend $289 a night for the most basic of accommodations. I stayed at the Karakahl for 50 bucks a night and it completely suited my needs. Its also a beautiful 20 minute ride from the Inn into West Madison.

The motel needs much renovating. The air conditioner never did cool the room. The staff did not seem to understand much, if any English. Unable to tell us if there was any coffee anywhere.

Part 1. When we first arrived we thought it was an abandon motel. The pool area is enclosed so the windows were moldy and gross. The 3 lounge chairs were rusted and outdated. As we walked in the office was dark-there was a sign that said dial (0) so we I did after several rings this guys comes up from doing his laundry. Part 2- The room was something out of a 1950's movie. It felt like a government experimented on that town were everyone disappeared and everything stood still. Everything is outdated and nasty- we had to enter through the back- unbeknownst to us we didn't know there was another entrance to the room. As we were in our room we noticed another door so opened it and to our surprise it was the entrance to the main hallway. It looked empty with no human life whatsoever. I think he asks everyone to use the back doors of their rooms so he can keep that hallway clean for pictures to market this dump. I also want to add It smelled liked cheap perfume mixed with cigarettes. The shower wall had dried spilled of not sure what body fluids. The comforter smelled like cigarettes. The air conditioner is set to super energy saver so good luck trying to get some cool inside the room. No iron, no hair dryer, no coffee etc. The location is very nice beautiful little town lots to see. This hotel has lots of potential if the owner stops being cheap and invests in it. By the way out of an estimated 50 rooms there were only 3 cars for a holiday weekend? That says a lot!!
