We loved Rancho de Lelo. From the moment we arrived , the family took amazing care of us . They were kind, friendly and helpful in planning our local Monteverde excursions. The food was extraordinary, made with a attention and care. They live their sustainability practices. Would highly recommend.

It is very clean and well maintained lodge. Breakfast was so delicious. No WiFi in the room. Highly recommend to have a car with 4 wheel drive. It is about 25 minutes from the lodge to Santa Elena (shops and Restaurants), and you have to drive a little steep uphill road. Once we oriented the area, we felt the distance to the town was pretty close. In order to get hot water for shower, turn the knob to left to start water and then bring it back to right. The owner speaks limited English, so it is helpful if you can speak some Spanish.

Lelo's place was fantasic. Wonderful food and fresh juices, we at from the farm- tilapia, eggs, and cafe. The cabins are really nice and wifi is accessible from the common eating space. They can also do laundry for a small fee.

This property is a model of sustainability. Very inspiring.

Fantastic, unique property. It's little remote and the roads to the place were terrible, but the ranch itself and the cabinas were amazing. Outstanding food too: pork from local farms, and fish caught literally a few steps from the kitchen. Lots of fruit you can pick off the trees too The only reason for four stars: no working wifi. Staff also doesn't speak English, which wasn't a problem for us, but could be for others.

The property is lovely and the engineering of it is brilliant as a sustainable development. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. By the end of our stay, we were sad to leave Lelo, Elvira, Jockson, Jose, and Natalia. We will definitely be back.

Loved staying at this quaint little farm in the monteverde area! The family is super accommodating and the food is fantastic. The cabins are cute and the area around is breathtaking. Stay here is you want to support a family and not some international conglomerate. They even showed us where to go to get the best local food and tours. I can't say enough good things about Rancho de Lelo!

Hotel is rustic and run by a very nice family (and a couple of other workers). Each room (cabin) is extremely clean with beautiful tile floors. Meals were generally very good, although we only ate breakfast once and dinner once. Keep in mind that the rooms do not include an air conditioner but do have a modern vertical floor fan. However, the temperatures seem to be pretty moderate. The mattress was very firm, so you may want some sort of mattress topper if very firm mattresses are not for you. Overall a great experience.

Literally unbelievable! The nicest people you can meet. I have no problem giving them my money they deserve every penny. Fish fresh caught with us watching. Amazing dinner and breakfast. A truly amazing family. Something you can be proud to say you were able to experience. Great job!!

They raised their own Tilapia, grew their own coffee. Raised their own pigs, cows and chickens. The dinner we had was probably the best meal we had in Costa Rica. The road to this hotel was a bit rugged, but it was worth the drive.

Rancho de Lelo is a special place. It is a beautiful story of a family that is working together to grow the best food, in a sustainable way. We are a family of four and we stayed there 4 nights and ate dinner at their restaurant 3 nights because it was that good! It was nice to be able to stay away from the tourist-filled Monteverde/Santa Elena; we would make one trip up to Monteverde area per day and then return in time for a great meal. The tour of the farm was really interesting-this is working farm and the family has spent years fine-tuning their practices. Our kids loved having a soccer field; the last night of our stay we played soccer under a rainbow. I hope we can return some day!
