Courtyard by Marriott Monterrey Airport3.0 out of 5.0

This is about as American a hotel you will find in Mexico. Stayed here for two nights while doing business in Monterrey and before flying out of the Monterrey airport. Very convenient to food and the airport (5 minutes by shuttle). The rooms were nice. The hotel was nice with lots of amenities. My stay was pleasant.
Good location near airport, friendly staff willing to help you. The rooms are spacious but kind of spartan atmosphere. Bed is good, could be better. Has shuttle to and from the airport previous reservation every 30 minutes. The food is ok, but just ok.
Travelling on business, worked in nearby industrial zone, so I liked hotel position. Not walking distance, but very short ride from the Airport (but still..you can walk if you want to). Staff was helpful, explained everything, smiling. No problem in that case. Room (larger room, king bed, sofa) was bigger than I expected, clean and well equipped. I liked big screen LCD TV. Bathroom with tub, very nice. Breakfast selection OK, but after 3 days you dont know what to choose, because its variety was not very big. Staff sometimes forgot to ask for coffee and juice (as they sometimes do) so then you dont know if they will come, or you have to go to coffe machine and ask for it (because there are at least 2 waiters standing there). Outside facilities OK- altan looks very nice, pool is big enaugh for a little swim, used it twice and always clean. Big disappointment was a "gym" which is smallest room in whole hotel, a few running belts there and only 1 bench with very little weights. Not usable for anyone who regulary weightlifts. Huge disappointment I do recommend hotel for doing business in nearby industrial zone, not for family vacation.
This was my first time to travel to Monterrey on business. This hotel is not in walking distance of the airport, but is a very short ride. I was a bit concerned with my flight getting in around 11:00 PM, which meant after going through customs I would likely be looking for a hotel shuttle late at night in a foreign country by myself. I was told by work associates that it could be a bit nerve racking to find the correct shuttle as no one spoke English. It actually was extremely easily to get to and from the hotel via the shuttle. After exiting the airport, stand curbside and watch for a white van with several hotel logos on it including the Courtyard. The shuttle runs 24 hours a day, every 30 minutes. Keep in mind that the shuttle will likely not arrive right at the hour and half hour as the day goes on. Just stay calm and ignore people in their cars offering you a ride until the shuttle rolls up. The ride to the hotel is less than 10 minutes without stops. The hotel provides a good qaulity breakfast, offering both American and Mexican dishes and cost 200 pesos. The coffee was excellent. Stayed in a king suite and the room was very clean. No thrills, but the AC kept my room ice cold, which is the way I like it when the measured out door temperature is 100ºF.
PLEASE NOTE: I am a huge fan of the Courtyard Marriott chain. I have been a Gold member for years. Staring off, I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Saltillo with great reviews, yet to be published. I get here in the Monterrey Airport Courtyard, and have been nothing but disappointed. My check in seemed painful, as I appeared to be a bother to the desk clerk. Not even a remote welcome as a guest, much less a greeting as a multi-year gold member. Minimal details about the hotel given. No breakfast hours, no other details provided without me having to ask. The hotel room is nice. Not extravagant but nice. No refrigerators in the room, so one would think that there would be working ice machines on the floor. Nope. I was one the 5th floor. Not one ice machine working on any floor but the first floor. Painful. Business traveler. WIFI needed. Yes please. Internet has dropped out several times during the writing of the review. Cant wait to see how it performs when I have Skype calls later tonight. This is truly sub-par for a Courtyard property. Look elsewhere until they get these issues fixed.
I paid for my stay through Egencia. I gave my card at check in since I always eat at least once through the hotel restaurant. When my credit card bill arrived I realized the hotel charged me for the same room for which I paid Egencia. They have agreed they double charged me and agreed to credit me, but it is almost a month with NO CREDIT TO MY CREDIT CARD.
Reasonable hotel to stay at. Close and convenient to airport. Check in was relatively quick. The room was a bit rough. Towel rack just barely attached to wall, and wallpaper a bit rough in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and carpet clean. Disappointing that only one small bottle of water was provided but the cost for additional was reasonable. The shuttle service provided was awesome. They travel wherever you need to go and always arrived promptly. I don't know how many shuttles they had, but plenty to make travel quick. The attached restaurant was very good. Breakfast was very good but was not included in the price of my room, but was lead to believe that in some cases it is. Checkout was quick.
The hotel is close to the Monterrey airport. In general terms it would require to be refurnish as the interior is clean, but also very old (the typical Courtyard I knew in the US in the early 2000). Nevertheless, it's clean and ideal for travellers with early flights. The hotel is located relatively far from the city center and therefore every visitor should check where he/she needs to go for business during the day. The trip from the hotel to the city and viceversa can become very lengthy. The staff is very friendly and helpful (no complaints at all)
I stayed at hotel for business and was pleased with my stay. The staff was excellent and the the rooms were comfortable for a quick over night. Unfortunately not many channels are in English but you can always get subtitles. The morning breakfast is excellent. The spices, peppers and home cooked food is worth trying. Over all it was a great experience and would likely come back.
I spent my first night there last week as a one-night stopover en route to the airport. Good rates and a comfortable room facing the inner courtyard. While the room is a bit dated (electrical outlets worn, A/C rather noisy and unpredictable, lots of fake brass metal lamps, etc.), I'll be back for future stays. Free shuttles (and timely!) to the airport every 1/2 hour in a late model van. Fantastic restaurant, Los Fresnos Restaurant Bar, adjacent to the property. Plenty of other eating options within walking distance, or grab a shuttle or taxi. An OXXO is located 300 feet away. Very decent breakfast buffet for 180 pesos. Prompt service by all staff that I encountered. Thanks for the pleasant experience after a long week of work! ;) Only one con: the seals on the room window have reach the end of their lives -- they don't block sound very well.
