Amazing place and amazing people
This was a lovely place, excellent staff and beautiful grounds! Clean beach. The beaches nearby were not as clean. The food was delicious but it was the same choices everyday, however there were plenty to choose from. The beach is very close so you can hear the waves. The drinks are delicious. The massage was amazing. Everyone is very kind and cordial. It’s quiet and peaceful. The only complaint was that the pool and hot tubs were under construction and we didn’t know this. They emailed us to tell us but it went to our spam so we never knew. There’s nothing on the website about this. We were highly disappointed about not having a pool or hot tub! With those are in working order, we would give 5 stars.
Where simplicity & nature meet. This was my 1st time at this property and I was accompanied by my 9 years-old daughter and 2 nieces. In general, the hotel is purely for people looking for a luxurious peace and quiet environment. The opening of a huge black gate, gives you full entrance to an enchanted mansion. The quietness/ peaceful ambiance coming from each corner of this property are pure heaven; the delicacy/simplicity emanating from every detail (e.i. rooms signaling embroidered in linen hand handkerchiefs) was so classic. One of the suites had my daughter's name "Dalia" embroidered - it was very sweet! ; the green and beautiful landscape as well as the multiple plants climbing and surrounding its columns/walls leaves you loving nature even more; the fresh/tasteful menu from its 2 restaurants were so delicious; The beach in general was good, no the best in DR, but good. Lastly, the people. The staffs were without a doubt the pure reflection of the hotel (both hotel/staffs are genuinely a good match!). The staffs - in its totality - portrayed such a peaceful/educated posture. The already aforementioned are the reasons why I tryly enjoyed my first time at this property. I trust that what I wrote gives you a quick glimpse of what to expect if you are in seach of a resort purely for relaxation purpose. I feel that I don't even need to mention how modern and well-equipped rooms were, and the Spa (I booked an 80 minutes aromatic massage- heaven!). Hope is helpful!

Gorgeous location, nice rooms, and very friendly staff. You can walk for 2 1/2 miles on the beach and swim in the sea, but you would need to go outside the resort for reef snorkeling. The rooftop infinity pool was stunning and a good temperature for swimming laps if a bit small. This resort was the best at Playa Dorada with its lovely design and lush gardens. Food was very good overall, except for the cooked fish, which wasn't as fresh. We had better local-caught fish and lobster in Puerto Plata and Sosua. This resort was luxurious and peaceful, a perfect couple getaway destination. We would return.
We loved the staff, facility and service quality, aroma, seclusion, and no crowds. What a place to recharge your batteries. We have no complaints what so ever.
Fantastic location. View from our ground floor beach front room was wonderful. Restaurants were very pleasing with goof food and excellent service. Expensive but worth it.

This is a beautiful, family-oriented hotel. The people who work there are all very friendly and helpful and provided great service. The food in the Lucia and Veranda restaurants was excellent. The beach was clean and beautiful. The property is lush in beautiful vegetation. My wife and I really enjoyed everything about our stay. The hotel lived up to the reviews I read before booking. From check-in to check-out, with three days in between, we always felt very welcome and served whether it was at beachside, pool, restaurant, lobby, assistance with cabs, ir in the condition of our room. The room had a beautiful basket of fresh fruit when we arrived, bottled water and coffee refilled daily, plenty of towels, and chocolates set out at night, in addition to being beautifully appointed like the rest of the hotel. Thank you to the Staff, and we will definitely return if we have the opportunity.
By far, the best hotel in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata! Five-star service, staff, and accommodations. The only included meal is (full) breakfast, and it is heavenly. However - The restaurant and bar offer gourmet dinner fare and top shelf liquor at a fraction of the price you would pay here in the U.S. Alternately, a short walk along the beach in either direction provides access to a variety of dining options. We definitely will stay at Casa Colonial again!
Hotel adults only. Quiet but it was low season. Staff attentive. Food good but limited menu and some dishes not available. Spa very nice. Rooms cleaned but floors not swept. As hotel is on the beach, some sand got on the floor and was not picked up. Hotel a long way from places.
We loved this hotel. It was gracious, peaceful, and quiet. Every detail just wrapped us in luxury.
As many have already said, the hotel, staff and food are exceptional. The prices are appropriate, and the alcohol is also reasonably priced. This is NOT an all inclusive; as a result, expect a very quiet and intimate experience.
Our stay was serene and relaxing. The hotel staff could not have been nicer. We used all of the hotel's facilities, the beach, all three restaurants, the gym, and the spa. Everything was perfect. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and maintained to perfection. I loved all the blooming orchids lining the pathways. Even the stray cats were friendly. The wifi service was good although it did require me to sign on multiple times each day, but that was not a huge inconvenience. I would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful hotel. It was very relaxing to have a private pool and jacuzzi upstairs. So happy they serve tostones - my favorite snack to eat.
