Very disappointing hotel. Location on the beach is the unique interest. Otherwise, it is an hotel used by large groups. Lobby and restaurant is less welcoming than a highway rest area. Fitness and swimming pool closed. Tiny « Onsen ». Moreover, we booked 2 rooms on booking.com, requesting non-smoking room. When we checked in, one of the room was a smoking room and very smelly of smoke. My wife has asthma and we could not use this room. The answer of the manager was: « when you book through booking.com you cannot choose your room ». And the only solution the manager offered was to pay 20´000 ¥ more for a suite. So better avoid this hotel.
Stayed a night with the family in Aoshima instead of Miyazaki. My relatives are local and the hotel had a good reputation which didn't disappoint. The views over Aoshima island and the sea are exquisite. The sand on the beach was very fine and sea great for surfing and swimming. Unfortunately the next door go-kart track had recently closed but there's still a mini train, mini golf, swan-shaped paddle boats, cycling, arts and crafts etc that you can do with family. We ate dinner at the hotel's Japanese restaurant (recommend reserving as not large) which served amazing food, generous countryside portions, and the price was reasonable. They also have a Chinese, Western, and Cafe style restaurants you can eat at. Buffet breakfast had a wide variety, serving western and Japanese cuisine, very typical of Japanese hotels this size. We swam in the hotel's indoor pool (they don't have an outdoor pool) which was ok but surprisingly there was a small charge even for hotel guests. Aoshima island is only 20 minutes walk away along the beach where you can see the Monster's Washboard (natural formation) and visit the Aoshima shrine. Would definitely visit the area and stay at the hotel again.
The room is nice even for a family, very clean. The hotel just next to the beach which is very good location for our holiday. We played fireworks with kids at night at the beach. The room has a beach view so very comfortable. However, the food choice at breakfast time is not very great, lack of variety and food quality is also so so. I cannot connect with wifi inside my room as well.
A good hotel with a great beach view. The view from the hotel room is stunning. We stayed here just before the season started and prices where more than reasonable. Though the gym and indoor pool was closed (onsen was open), so if that's what you're after, check first. Breakfast had plenty of Western and Japanese options but we found it to be no more than ok and skipped it after a few days.
Straight to my usual items i review a hotel on. Customer Service: Excellent Staff who made sure they did everything they could do to make my stay here enjoyable! Location: A bit far from the main city of Miyazaki. On the flip side, it is right near the beach and close to Aoshima Island. Great for sunrise and sunset walks! Wifi - No wifi on my floor. I stayed in room 4542 in a Japanese style room and I had to go downstairs whenever i needed wifi. It wasn't a bad thing as it reminded how much me and everyone else relies on technology in todays world. Great to getaway from it once in a while. Price paid - For the price i paid, I believe i got a steal of a deal for my japanese style room. Very traditional and contained all the things i needed. Overall, I would gladly stay here again if I plan any getaways with a special someone. It is perfect for honeymooners and rekindling of couples.
well... Because I loved it so much, I had to travel there again two weeks in a row. My surf friends took me to this awesome place at the end of May... and I loved it too much I had to ask my husband to visit there again for the following week.. and I've even booked there again for the end of October to bring my whole family. The view from the hotel is just superb.. I go to Hawaii about three times a year for surfing, but I felt like I can replace my surf trip to Miyazaki :)
Yes it is a bit faded, but it was great to have a view and a decent amount of space. I agree with previous reviewers - the closure of the swimming pool is a bit dumb for a hotel which promotes itself as a resort. Also sticking rigidly to a 3.00pm check was a bit silly given the place was not overly busy. You might like to avoid the Chinese restaurant if shark fin dishes offend. We enjoyed fish and chips at the Bondi Cafe after 2-3 weeks of Japanese food and the Hiroya across the road was a lovely and reasonably priced restaurant with pleasant staff. Lots of people in the water enjoying the very modest waves so ideal for families. Enjoyed walking along the front, out to the shrine and the botanic garden is not to be missed.
After staying in a sardine-like hotel in Miyazaki City, we left after a night and stayed at ANA Holiday Inn Resort. A lovely lady greeted us, helped us book lunch at their Japanese restaurant and stored our luggage as it was too early to check in. We borrowed umbrellas to explore Aoshima and got caught in a freak storm. Luckily, the brilliant concierge arranged for us to use the hot spring to shower off and change before our lunch reservation. They had a 24-hr coin laundry available in B1. Our rooms were honeymoon worthy except for the twin beds since we had booked last minute rooms! We had a spectacular view of Aoshima beach and Kodomo no Kuni which were lovely any time of day. Another bonus was being able to buy the One-day Miyazaki Bus Pass directly from the reception. For 1000yen, you could take the buses to many scenic spots. We managed to visit Udo Shrine, the Devil's Washboard and the Nichinan Sunmesse to see the Moai before heading back into the city. The PROS: off-season prices were reasonable. Worth the splurge if you're not on a tight budget. The service is wonderful. The breakfast is fantastic (though they could refill the empty dishes faster). The location is wonderful if you want to relax and do some light sightseeing as the bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel's HOT SPRING was amazing! I went once in the morning to see the sunrise from the onsen before going to breakfast. And then again in the evening to relax. The CONS: A little far from the city and you'd need to take a 30-min train ride or 40-min bus ride to MC. Trains to the city from Kodomo no Kuni weren't very frequent, however, it was fairly convenient if you time it right. There are many tour groups, which means breakfast (and the hot spring) may be a bit crowded and loud at certain hours.
Our group stayed at the ANA Holiday Inn recently for one night. The lobby is enormous and check-in was straightforward. Our Japanese tatami style room was a bit on the small side but adequate for our needs. The view to the beach was splendid but unfortunately it was winter time - cold, and very windy! The only difficulty we had during our stay was in finding vegetarian options for dinner. The bar/restaurant serving drinks and light meals had no pizzas the evening we were there which required dining downstairs at the (rather pricey) buffet.
Spent two nights here and found the hotel and area very relaxing. Hotel is right on the beach. The number one feature - a hot spring spa right in the hotel! Slippers and spa-wear provided in your room. Good hotel restaurants and very caring staff. Ask them to call a taxi and then have a seat in the lobby. The staff will collect and escort you to your taxi when it arrives. There is a nice nature area beside the hotel and a shrine right down the beach. You can also surf with the locals within 100 yards of the hotel! Get here by train and then taxi. Free parking if you drive. IHG Reward Club members keep an eye out for specials. We stayed for 5,000 points per night.
