We stayed four nights in two family rooms. We were welcomed on arrival by a friendly and attentive receptionist who took the time and trouble to explain the hotel facilities. He gave my granddaughter a couple of small gifts on check-in and check-out which was a nice added touch. The bedroom and bathroom in each room was a good size, clean and well stocked. The superb hot and cold buffet breakfast provided an incredible choice each day. The location is good, with the Ca Granda metro station a few minutes walk away providing fast and inexpensive trains to all areas of Milan. Although not in use when we stayed (April), the swimming pool and surrounding looked good. There are shops, bars and restaurants nearby. An enjoyable stay.
We have just come back from a 5 day stay at this hotel and I would recommend it. We had our 2 small children with us (2 & 8) and the hotel was a great experience for them. The staff were all very friendly and polite and the children loved the little gifts that they were given on check in and check out. The amenities for them (Xbox, iPad table, football table, small park) were a lovely addition and they enjoyed them. The hotel is very close to the tram stop and a short walk from the Metro. We loved that it wasn’t in the centre of Milan and found that the journey into the centre was very simple. We had breakfast included which was a lovely buffet with lots of choice, the children really enjoyed choosing their selection every morning. We also ate dinner in the restaurant on the first night which was very good and the kids menu was great too. The room was very clean and just right for all of us, we upgraded to the executive room which included a large bottle of mineral water (still and sparkling) every day and a coffee machine. This is a great hotel to stay in with children and we really enjoyed our stay in Milan.
Quiet, clean, quite well equipped, far from city center, nice environment, modern look, good service, all in all good place to stay...rooms and beds are not very big, but are clean, very polite and helpful staff, cozy breakfast room and a lot of options. There is a very nice park beside the hotel, the is a free unattended parking in front of the hotel which is very hard to find a space in and the underground parking is 1€ per hour or 13 € for 24 hr.
We stayed 5 nights (2 family rooms) in Novotel Milano Ca’Granda Hotel. We arrived late, close to midnight with three small children and had the worst check-in experience with a rude and arrogant man named Andrea, who not only lacked any social skills but also was incompetent and gave a wrong information and he had some temper issues. I was honestly shocked with his aggressive attitude, lack of compassion. Later I read some reviews in tripadvisor and apparently it was not the first time Andrea was rude to the hotel customers. Being a frequent traveller I am used to be greeted with a smile and welcome words when we check-in, but this time was not lucky with getting Andrea for check-in. However, the hotel General Manager Mr Marco Ministeri was very professional, kind and accommodating and hopefully next time Andrea will remember to welcome all guests with smile and a positive attitude. Thanks to Mr Marco Ministeri we put the bad check-in experience behind us and enjoyed the rest of our stay. Our room was of a decent size. Big queen-size bed and sofa bed for children. The renovation was probably made long time ago but the room was clean and light. The breakfast was very good, I highly recommend booking a room with breakfast or buying it in the hotel for 14 euros- totally worth it. Lots of choice and a delicious breakfast! The location of the hotel is not central and about 20 minutes away from Duomo, requiring changing two metro lines. For example to go to Duomo you first take line M5 till Zara station and then change to line M3 till Duomo. Not very convenient if you have children with you. The metro stop (Ca’Granda) is about 7 minutes from the hotel. This was not my first visit to Milan and hopefully not the last one. I do not know if I would want to stay in Novotel Ca’Granda hotel again, mainly because of the location. I prefer more closer hotels to center. Overall if you are not bothered with 20 minutes metro ride to the center and get a good deal in this hotel, it won’t disappoint you.
We had friends in the neighborhood, so this was very convenient for us, staying for one night and having dinner with them. It also offers easy access by metro to the city center, with one line change). I'm not sure the hotel lives up to its four stars; it's rather dated and could use a facelift; the rooms are very plain. They are clean, however, as are the pleasant public areas. The staff was great, and the best aspect of the hotel. Front desk and breakfast staff were accommodating, friendly, and professional. I can recommend this if one is looking for something simple and affordable (make sure to get a good rate; looks like prices can vary). Also, be aware of its location in the city. Not the best option for tourists who want primarily to be in the centro, although as noted, it's an easy metro ride to get there, about 20 minutes. Nice breakfast.
If I could put zero… It is incredible that an international hotel chain manages a hotel with the lack of maintenance that can be seen in the photos. We stayed one night in the middle of a tour. The hotel is located away from the tourist spots. The ground floor and common areas look great but the rest is abandoned. The restaurant service is far superior to the hotel level.
This nice: somebody is listening , seeds in the breakfast but still no OATS?????? Serve some oats organic or not and some porridge or muesli The bed was fantastic and the reception also But book a low price which is not always available
It is simply not to the level expected for a Novotel and even less for a 4-star rating. A few things to illustrate this: - staircase with peeing paint and paint flakes on the carpet during 3 days of my stay - room cleaning is average - not enough plugs in room need to unplug tv to charge my laptop - tea and coffee set with average products and paper cups (real cups and good coffee or Nespresso machine expected when in Italy!) - bathroom flush not working properly, had to change room - bath tub shower sprays water in the bathroom if not extra careful, uncomfortable A very positive review for the reception / concierge. Particularly Yuri who speaks excellent English and French and is helpful, smiling and knowledgeable.
Close to public transportation, able to walk to the metro. Took metro to the Duomo and shopping. Very quiet neighborhood, felt safe. Breakfast buffet amazing, room was very nice. My room had a bathtub which was nice, none of the other hotels that I stayed in Italy had one. I enjoyed it!
We stayed here last summer, good location and great customer service! Swimming pool is fab for children to keep them busy although its quite small. Family room is just right for us and clean. Will stay again if ever will go Milan.
