NH Milano Fiera4.0 out of 5.0

For those wishing to visit exhibition Fiera Milano, this one is the best hotel, despite high price tag during the exhibition. Spacious rooms, very clean and good amenities. Breakfast is nice and service honest. Negative: one has to make a reservation for all of the exhibition days... shorter stays are marked as unavailable.
We were going to visit Alfa Romeo in Arese. It is ideally situated, well connected, clean and efficient. The rooms are clean, the bars were not always with personnel but once served they were corteous
Let's make this clear: The hotel is perfect, with an amazing breakfast. But boy, it's far, far, far away from everything! To reach (the last) Metro station, you have to walk at least 15 minutes through an very wide and open terrain which is very windy. During the night, the walk from Metro to the hotel is little bit creepy as the route is empty and you can't see no vehicles, people or an animals - you feel like you're alone in the world! So, to reach the city center you have around 40 minutes with a lot of walk. Around hotel you can't even find a gas station, small shop or anything, it's so annoying.
We got a great room with a fantastic view. The room was extremely clean and spacious, with great beds. The hotel was close to the metro and very modern. The staff was also great, especially Elvis and Salvatore. Elvis knows Italian, English and Croatian and has helped us by informing us about Milan and everything about our stay, was very helpful and friendly!
A great price for a 1st class hotel if there is no event on at the Fiera (exhibition hall) next door. If you are not driving a car, taxis are a real problem. 20Euros for the 10min drive to a restaurant and up to 50 (yes, I said 50!) to return. Don't get stuck in Rho with no ride back to the hotel.
The typical NH Hotel but without good connection to the city. It's placed in the middle of nowhere at the south entrance of the fair ground and the next tube station is 1.7 km by foot away. No shuttle service offered. So you either better just want to stay in the Hotel or accept constant taxi rides resp. Walks through a deserted fair ground area or have your own car with you. No waterboiling facility in the room, no free drinking water, instead a well-filled yet expensive minibar. It surely is an advantage for the smokers that there are rooms for them but the staff should ask guests if they wish to be in such a room. Breakfast is good and the staff is service oriented.
So, the location of the hotel if you don't go for the fair is completely out of the way. This hotel was build just for the fairs. The rooms are decent, the internet ok(not 2017 standards). The restaurant has very limited menu, and after one evening you are obliged to go eat outside, but the service is good. Never saw until now that you cant iron your clothes in the room. Or you pay for pressing or you need to go to make a new key card and go to stay in line for the pressing room!!!! Outrageous!!!! I just want to be able to press my stuff in my room. The parking has a fee even if you are a guest. Overall, the hotel is waaaaaaaay overpriced in the week if the fair.
So the outside of the building looks great, until you get to the reception. Not enough staff to deal with the amount of check ins. The customer service was rubbish, couldn't even tell me how to get a coach to the airport, I mean seriously? Opposite the biggest exhibition centre in the world and your staff of a 4 star hotel do not know how to get to the airport via a coach. hallways and staircase looks like a building site, the room was basic, no iron facilities in the room, TV was slow and unusable. The AC was also with its own mind. The breakfast was average. Price very expensive and over all would stay again. Oh yeah there was a hooker in the reception every night trying to get business that looked like dracula that kept on asking for business. Security were not even aware of this, or maybe they were!
Stayed 1 night in a single room for 525 Euro. Tiny room, tiny bed, tiny desk with very little space to work. When I first checked in, I specifically asked for a non-smoking room. Got to my room, and guess what - it was a smoking room. Went back to the reception. They said it was because this was the only room ready. But why didn't they tell me that? I didn't even need the room then, was going out immediately. So they gave me another room - a handicapped room, with very low sink, low toilet, bars for wheelchairs... And the lights in that room didn't work. So I went back again, left my stuff at the reception and told them to get me a room a few hours later when I was coming back from the meeting. You would think that after the mess from before, they would at least apologize and give me a better room than I booked? But no, a tiny little room with a small bed, and no space to even turn around. I had to order room service because I had to work. But there was no place to put the tray except for on the bed. When done, I put the tray outside the door. That was at 9 pm. Next morning, the tray was still there until I checked out at 10:30 am. Now the fitness center. First of all, they didn't say at the reception that I needed to have my key specially programmed to get into the gym. So I went 15 flight in the elevator that stopped on every floor, just to find out that my key didn't work. And then back down and back up again after having the key programmed. And again, the elevators stopped on every floor... And the fitness center itself was a huge disappointment. Only 5 cardio machines, and only on multi-purpose machine for strength training. With hundreds of people staying at the hotel - there was no way to get space. Had to wait for 30 minutes to get to a treadmill. And no AC in the gym! Can you believe it??? Several people tried to open the windows, but the windows kept closing themselves. There are no window stoppers in them. The room outside the gym is huge and empty. Why don't they build a proper gym there??? All in all, a huge disappointment, Especially considering the rate!
The title said it all. This hotel is certainly over priced, looking a little shabby and dated. The carpet needs replacing, the lifts are terrible especially in the rush of the morning. My whole corridor smelt of smoking. The only plus point it has is the locality to the Fierra, otherwise I am sure this hotel would close.
