Hotel Carrobbio4.0 out of 5.0

I stay in hotels twice a week on business, and our company uses TripActions, so we get rewarded for choosing less expensive hotels. This can lead to some interesting outcomes. This time it worked out great! Hotel Carrobbio is a well presented hotel, with clean, well appointed rooms and very attentive, smiling staff. I think most of the custom is from tourists, but I was really pleased with the experience as a business traveller, especially the location in the old district. Oh - and they have an adorable American Cocker Spaniel who sits quietly outside the reception office, checking everything is in order.
Do not stay in this hotel, especially folks from US as you will be more shocked. Furniture is horrible, very old built inside the walls:)). Our bed is like 2 big boxes put together. Bathroom is too dated. Lights of the room go out very often. You have to go to reception to let then know as the the phone is out and there is no way you can contact them. No wifi. Imagine a motel in the suburbs of Texas. That's what it is.
BIG WARNING TO TRAVELLERS Wouldn't recommend this place, unless you only want somewhere to store your luggage. We stayed our last two nights in Italy and they were by far the worst nights we have had anywhere ever. We stayed on the 4 th floor with no air conditioning suffered through one night and was told some story the aircon was getting fixed the following day. The following day came no aircon working still so we asked for another room or refund they offered another room so we packed everything up moved to floor 3 to find this room was a tiny bit cooler but still no aircon working and wasn't possible to open window because there was a hostel opposite the room that was playing music and drinking on there balcony at 4 In the afternoon so we had no option but to go back to the original room which we thought would give us some chance to sleep. They tried to tell us more lies to try and cover them about not giving a refund and said if we would like to go to another accommodation that would be fine with them, yet they weren't going to organise and pay for it. Please don't book HERE pay more money for somewhere with aircon that works and maybe a working shower. I forgot to mention we couldn't open the window in the original room because it was above there courtyard where the smokers sat so the only cool fresh air was smoke, it might be ok if your a smoker . I also recommend packing some duct tape to do a diy fix for the shower head enjoy the photos
We arrived to be greeted by the most professional, personable and attentive staff. The hotel is an older renovated property, which I am fine with. After checking in you have to go up and down a maze of narrow marble stairs to find the tiny, slow elevator. We got to our room, which was dated and in need of touch up in every sense. The beds were like slabs of wood, the pillows were made out of the same tree. The free Wi-fi was spotty at best. We had no connection truly about 70% of the time. So if you are working on any communication that matters.... don't! The room was on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the side street and Hostel. Again, it didn't bother me until the youth decides to start whooping it up late at night. I thought being made out of marble, this place is built like a fortress. Not so fast...... we heard the garbage trucks at 5:45 am emptying the recyclables out of every container up and down this side street. So for about 30 minutes the sounds of clanging glass being dumped into the trucks was what we had as a reminder it was time to get up. The walls were paper thin. The next morning there was a person across the hall at 6 am tossing their dinner, yep taking very loudly. It sounded as if he/she were in our own bathroom. Shortly there after, there was the most loud yawning we have ever heard. It was comical. I told my bride I felt like I was at the zoo watching the lions yawn. They did have a decent, not the best breakfast buffet. Again, service was the crown jewel at this place.
We stop here on the last night of our Italy trip. Rooms was generous in size, the staff were attentive and the location was terrific. On the flip side, the room was very dated, the trams pass right outside through the night and they are loud, and despite not opening the windows into he room and keeping the Aircon on, we killed three mosquitos in our room and I still woke up with 5 bites.
This hotel is located on one of the busiest Milan shopping street, however, I stayed here due to its close location to a business meeting. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and adequate. To visit the duomo and its surrounding sites, the walk is a pleasant 10-15 minutes walk.
I wasn't going to write a review of this hotel but seeing so many contradictions from users prompted me to make my remarks. Probably not 4 star as this hotel needs refurbishing but is kept very clean. The staff are friendly. It's a short walk down to the Duomo past shops and restaurants and a good spot to start from for all locations. Good value for money because of this.
Booked this hotel through HotWire and was listed as a four-star hotel. I think it once was, but (at least our room) was not four star worthy. The room was fairly clean, but the corners, kit areas in the bathroom and curtains were all a bit shady. Beds were good and we had a good night sleep for a fair price.
From a very warm welcome back to a nice and cool air con room. Excellent location. Spotless clean. What else can you ask for? Been lots and surely will be going back again and again! Thank you guys, You are amazing.
Me and a friend decided to travel around italy starting with Milan at first we had a different "hotel" (more like a hostel booked). My friend decided to change where we were staying last minute and I'm very glad she did. I flew into Milan Bergamo caught the €5 bus then headed to the MTR bought the local ticket for €1.50 and got off at four stops later at Duomo. My friend picked me up from there and took me to the hotel. The lady on reception was lovely very polite and always seemed very cheery. The room was big enough to have to separate beds which where soooooo comfortable. The room also had a working TV where you could get 1 channel of English which is better than none. We also had a balcony and use of a fridge in the room. The hotel is very close to the city centre so easy to see all of the attractions round there. There is also a supermarket close by if you wanted to buy some things in. Overall I would recommend anybody to stay here very friendly atmosphere, lovely rooms and a balcony to escape the hustle and bustle put your feet up and read a book.
