Holiday Inn Milan - Garibaldi Station4.0 out of 5.0

We chose the hotel as an overnight base and as it was close to the station, but only realised once we were there that it was a much further walk than expected, especially with two children in tow. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.
This hotel was fab - could not fault a thing. We arrived at 1230 fully aware check in wasn't until 2. They quickly sorted the room so we could dump our bags there and get out and about. The room was modern, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good and until 12 on Saturdays and Sundays. Location is great. Close to Isola district and on the tram line into the centre for the Duomo. Would stay there again no problem.
Nice city hotel, easy 10 minute stroll from Garibaldi Station which has good access for trains and metro. Just outside hotel is a tram stop Number 2, which takes you right into Duomo centre in less than 20 minutes (two day pass for metro, trams and buses only 8.50 Euro). Hotel is on a busy junction but if you leave bedroom window closed the aircon is good and noise is kept out. Well used hotel but clean and modern, nice sized rooms, big beds and large bathroom. Staff are great and will give you a city map and help with directions etc, very attentive. Good value for this great city
I was so disappointed even before our arrival as I was requesting a wine bottle settled to room which I would have paid for before check-in as a birthday gift for my fiance. When calling the reception like two days before arrival I have been told they will not do it as they`re not providing this kind of service even when this hotel has regular restaurant and they are providing the room service. How unpleasant beginning of a birthday trip. Check in was more than awful, have not been welcomed warmly, moreover we felt like disturbing the receptionist from his own business. Although the room was small, it`s an Italian standard and was cosy and very clean. Small was also the bathroom but clean as well. The bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable and I am glad we spent there only two nights as we would have had back problems. First evening I came to the restaurant to ask for a wine, however the manager did not understand English so I rather gave it up and went to close market to buy - by that time twice requested - gift for my fiance. Positive on this stay was the breakfast, which was very rich and with lots of tasty food. This is what Italians know how to do. Unfortunately the nice reception lady who checked us out could not have done anything to brighten up our stay as it was really disappointing what kind of service a Holiday Inn can deliver.
Nice city, but not a busy city might be because most people are in vacation end of July the only busy area is the one around the main many, historical attractions are La Scala Opera, the Milan Cathedral, the National Museum of Science and Technology and Santa Maria della Grazie, My shopping experience was fine but not that good as price relatively expensive not much of shops except the area near train station.
I stayed 3 nights for city trip here. The hotel is 10min by foot from Station garibaldi or 2 station by tram 2 Tram Lines Direct in Front of the Hotel. The room offers nice bed , big flat screen and Bathroom - all works fine and comfortable The reception are very helpful! The hotel offers a restaurant and breakfast, the breakfast was ok! Helpful service here and good choice of all you need for international breakfast
I choose the hotel as I am an IHG member and it was central as well as a good price. The bedroom was lovely but the bathroom seemed a bit dated but still clean and practical. The reception staff and the breakfast team were very helpful and also had good advice for moving around Milan as well as places to eat. Breakfast has lots of choice and is self service - Fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, hot food, cold meats and cheese etc as well as a healthy section if you want to be good :) I stayed 3 nights, doing the Milan sites as well as a trip to Lake Como both are very beautiful.
I would have rated this hotel as very good, the room size has space to move, there is a fridge, bathroom also quite spacious. But then I slept! Oh wow, the bed was super comfortable, a couple of pillows each. In my mind the most important component of accommodation. We enjoyed breakfast as part of our booking and there was ample selection for any person to ready for their day. Overall we had 3 nights. I should also mention the proximity of Garibaldi Railway Station, including a supermarket, and a laundromat opposite - both we used.
PRO's: -good location -big room -very clean -helpful staff (Fabio + one guy on the night shift) CON's: Conversation with the blonde lady at the reception: ME: Hi. We need to check out early in the morning, around 5.00am. Are there any night services we can use to get to Malpensa Airport? HER: Of course. You can take a taxi or our shuttle (while showing me the prices - over 100 euro/ride) ME: I see. Aren't there any buses available? HER: No. Only these at that time. ME: But I checked online and I saw there is a night bus that goes from here to Centrale Station and from there I can take the Malpensa bus. HER: Oh, so you know about that? I understand that you need to promote your own service but don't lie to me. Beside this, everything else was good. Highly recommend visiting Mr Panozzo's Restaurant! It will bring a smile on your face!
Convenient location next to the train station can go to airport and a small store can buy a water and drinks at late night 22:00. Room and service is ok and stay in a twin bed just look like a king bed. I just stay for a night. It's value for money.
