We chose this hotel for Mexican Independence Day with a window overlooking the Zocalo.
What we were given was a view over an alley.
There is no front desk [or front entrance] at this property.
We had to ask locals on the street.
The speakeasy entrance to Casa Mexico is located between Av. 5 de Mayo and Av. Francisco I Madero to the left of McDonald's on C. de Monte de Piedad in front of the Zocalo.
The entrance is through a jewelry store. The building signage says Centro de Joyero de Mexico. Below is a green awning that says Restaurantes Terraza Mexico. on the side of the awning says Casa Mexico.
If the jewelry store is open proceed to the back of the store and take the elevator on the right to the fifth floor. If you're luck there will be a small reception desk to check you in. You will not receive any information prior to your arrival on how to get there.
At night time if the jewelry store is closed with a roll down gate, you will have to knock on the metal gate door and hope a security person will let you in.
Guests will receive an access code. {For the main door on the fifth floor and your room. It is the same code for both. There are "Do Not Disturb" tags for doors so you room will be cleaned with or without your permission. Protect your valuables.
We paid for two people . Beds are vary comfortable and excellent hot water. Upon check out we were charged again. Cleaning staff are like a bar bouncer, not courteous
