Entrance was good, parking arranged all fine .. when we asked for an extra blanket it was an issue .. really?? Booked the most expansive room which turned out not to have a separate bathroom but an in-room 1975 tub. Ok, location is good but it doesn’t live up to the name of ‘Grand Hotel’ .. over.
This hotel is in a very old building and has been renovated. Unfortunately they have not put in air con and on the night we were there the temperature was in the high 30's in the evening and not below 35 during the night. e asked for a fan bur this was not very good. Room was quite large with a very compact bathroom/separate WC. We did not have breakfast in the hotel as we thought it was expensive and there were shops nearby that you could get food for less. Parking was very close. Cathedral was a short walk away and was beautiful. The market had lovely displays of meat, fish, fruit, vegetables etc.
The hotel is located in a great location right near the Cathedral, the river, the ice rink and great restaurants. Some of the rooms have been renovated. Ours had a very large Jacuzzi sized bathtub! The concierge desk was super helpful as I needed recommendations for restaurants and car services.
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable room, fabulous breakfast offerings, but a real trial to get to because of street construction at the time we visited. Parking was a nightmare. Americans should be prepared for the fact that many European hotels (including this one) don't provide wash cloths, and be careful to ensure that your hotel has central air conditioning if that's important to you. This one did not, but the windows opened, and that helped a lot. A quiet location with a very good Chinese restaurant a half-a-block away.
This might be my second review, sorry if so. The hotel is ok for an overnight and breakfast is plentiful if basic. Best part is you can park your motorcycle in the internal courtyard if you ask nicely. It's a little rough around the edges but good value. For quietness get an internal facing room.
For a city centre hotel it's ok. A little rough around the edges but not bad for an overnight. Price is reasonable and the breakfast enough to get you by. Biggest plus point is if you ask nicely they will let you park your motorcycle free of charge in covered courtyard. Invaluable in any city. Restaurants all around. Ask for an internal room for a quiet night.
We were last minute in Metz and ended up at the hotel Metz. It was the worse accommodation and most expensive we had in France during our trip. Very small room, one towel in bathroom for 2 people. Bathroom and toilet separated and very small. There was so much noise that I could not sleep at all. Not parking on location available .The pros: The bed was comfortable, the location great, good breakfast , friendly receptionist , internet worked well
A colleague and I stayed here for one night whilst on business . We found the rooms clean, warm and quiet. The two concierges we met, one early in the evening and one later one, were charming and very helpful. The hotel also has an indoor car park, which was a tremendous bonus as we have never been to Metz before, and were tired after a very long drive and had no idea where to park the car overnight, so for 10€ it was a godsend! In the limited time we were there we thought Metz was a beautiful city, and would like to return there, but next time I’ll come when it’s not so cold....-8!! I would definitely recommend this hotel, it’s in the very heart of the town, perfectly placed for an uninterrupted by traffic walk, as the streets are closed off to traffic in the evening, clean and friendly, what more could you ask?
good hotel, location fantastic, food good, service and rooms good. Would go back again - centrally located- great to get around city. Staff helpful - great starting place to get around the city of Metz
The hotel is centrally located, staff friendly, and rooms are large. Everything else goes from bad to worse. No A/C. There is a corner bath in the bedroom with a shower head you have to hold - no hook. The decor matches the bath, from last century, with our room down a narrow, sloping corridor. Breakfast was the worst I have seen in a long time, inedible pastries.Poor wi-fi.It's a tour hotel, and best avoided.
