I have stayed at Caribe in the past and have always been very impressed with the Hotel. I certainly will stay there again. The staff is always very helpful very courteous and very interested in the well-being of its guests. For being only a block to the Plaza Grande, I would rated as one of the best 4 most tourist and the amount of local people that stay there indicate that it is a very good place. The Ambiance spectacular, as it is a very old building impeccably maintained and steeped in the history of Merida. Although the rooms open only to the courtyard, it is a very safe and quiet especially at night. I highly recommend it.
Great location! That and the roof pool was the thing that made me choose this hotel. Pretty spotty wifi though, the only let down of the place I saw.
location, price close to many restaurants & cultural events
Beautiful building in a great location. Staff helpful and friendly. Room clean and comfortable. Would definitely come back!
We requested and paid for a double bed room and instead got the single very small room. After talking to multiple staff members no one was able to accommodate or at least offer any kind of apology for the incident. The menu prices are also not updated, they charged me more on the bill. It’s a beautiful location next to a Starbucks and the hotel is also super cute however the service and management need improvement.
Great staff, location & clean. Hope to visit again.
We have stayed here often during the past 15 years and have always found the staff outgoing and helpful. The rooms tend to be small but the beds are comfortable. Being in the heart of Merida makes up for a lot of so-sos.
They over charged us for our room. When we were checking in the man at the front desk had a bad attitude, don't know if it was because he thought we were going to argue with him about the over charge but he was not a nice guy. Rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were ok. Room could definitely use some work. Cracked floors. It smelled really musty and the airconditioner was very loud. Wifi did not work good. Had included breakfast which was 2 eggs and some toast. For the price we paid you would think we could get some bacon... Definitely would not stay again.
What to say? The price was good. I guess you get what you pay for. The best part of the hotel was the restaurant, an attractive setting. There was an elderly couple who came to sing and play the guitar every day and they were just lovely, very sweet and genuine. I liked the restaurant wait staff very much, particularly Maritza(?) who was so helpful and enthusiastic, volunteering to share different events going on in the city and helping me make arrangements. The front desk staff was at best, not surly. Indifferent is a good description. There were people who appeared to be concierges but as I don't speak Spanish they were not able to help at all. the room was extremely dark and the lighting not at all good. It was very clean however and the mattress was fine.
Stayed here several years ago. Hotel has gone down in most areas. Water leaked over bathroom floor due to bad plumbing. No available hot water. Very stuffy dark room, moved to larger upgraded room the second nite. Upgraded room had windows and passable bathroom plumbing. Restaurant not up to Merida standards. Front desk staff not interested in comfort of guests. Hotel location is fantastic. One block from main plaza and cathedral. Very close to other hotels offering much better accommodations for competitive prices.
Stayed for a night and loved it! Location was great and the hotel had a beautiful Renascence/hacienda style to it. Would defiantly stay here again
This is the perfect location to visit the city. It's right in the center!
Great location, we had a wonderful time in Merida.
The hotel is located a block away from Merida's central square and next to a quaint little plaza. It is a bit run down (although it seems like it is undergoing some rennovation works at the moment). The rooms are very basic, but they are clean. Breakfast was just about ok, there isn't much variety.
Booked based on its rating. Can't complain. You get what you pay for. Nice staff, very accommodating. May book again.
I have used Hotel Caribe for years because I love the staff, the room is clean and airconditioned. You cannot beat the location. The last year I have been renovating a property in Merida and I stay at Hotel Caribe for a week at a time. The staff takes care of me like one of there own. Wifi is free but spotty, but you can get it somewhere in hotel. Its not a luxury hotel but a very good vaue. Many good restaurants close by. Looking forward to going again.
The hotel is in a really pretty historic building and right in the historic center of town. The rooftop swimming pool is a great spot to end a warm day and watch the sun set over the cathedral. Kids loved the pool. The rooms have minimal comfort but we got a really good rate. The bar and restaurant are not great but there is a lot of choice nearby, although mainly tourist places.
This Hotel is very nice and fantastic location. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great Value for the money. Have stayed her before and I will again.
