There was a chain around the door.

I loved this little hotel. It is every bit as nice as the online pics suggest, with all of the character that you would want from a boutique hotel. It is close to the plaza, restaurants, shops, etc. The room was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and professional. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Merida!

I stayed here my first night in Mérida in a big, beautiful room with its own little pool. It's close to everything, the staff is really friendly, and I loved the elephant made from towels on the bed. If I find myself in Mérida again I'll stay here in a heartbeat.

We decided to spend a week in Merida Yucatan seeing several places we missed last time. Staff helped us arrange a tour of three cenotes which we enjoyed and recommended other things to do. Rooms are pretty basic with a bed, tv and all in one bathroom and shower. Prices are reasonable. This hotel is small with quaint architecture. Overall we enjoyed our stay and may book again with this hotel which is part of a chain.

This hotel was a great value. The staff were friendly and helpful. We could walk to everything.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights while in Merida. The hotel rooms are okay, not particularly fancy, but it's clean with good air conditioning - good value considering the price of the hotel. The staff of the hotel is outstanding. They did their best to try help us sort out our day trips, transportation, giving advice on where to go or eat. They are extremely friendly and courageous. I would say they are the best hotel staff I have ever met with. Also, they speak good English. I would definitely stay here if I visit Merida next time.

Art 57 is very near downtown Merida. Good place to stay if you want to explore the city. The hotel is clean and has a lot of character. Israel, one of their front desk staff, was particularly very nice and helpful. If you are not a Spanish speaker, you may want to consider this place as their staff (at least those I met) spoke English.

When I arrived they told me a needed to pay extra to park my car because they only had four parking spaces and they were already full. I refused to pay for the parking and I went to check the parking garage and there was still one parking space available. I am not sure if the attendant a the front desk wanted to get some money or what but I did not like this experience. We had no bath towels in our room. We found this out after taking a shower!! They did give me a couple of towels after I asked for them. Overall it was not a very pleasant experience. I don't think we are coming back.

Very nice staff and great location. Need to serve continental breakfast.
