"I quite like this hotel and it's one of the better hotels in the Merced area. My only issue is that it is quite loud on the M Street side because the train is in the vicinity, which runs until very late. The other problem that they cannot control is the health food/juice bar (also the M Street side) that blasts music all day starting at 9 a.m. Book yourself a room on the alley side, or quiet side.
One of the best features of El Capitan is it has a nice coffee bar downstairs that also serves snacks. Their staff is very friendly, too. I also love the filtered water and ice station on the 3rd floor. If you're a big water drinker, this is a marvelous amenity."
