Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne

The staff, service, rooms, restaurant, all faultless I cannot say more about my stay as it was perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone who is demanding and picky as you will be shown what service is all about. Only minor thing would be to have some improvement in the wine list - but when you live in Sonoma you get very fussy indeed. Nick

We stayed here five nights for a business/pleasure trip. The hotel is conveniently located near the central business district, making many attractions an easy walk. You can also easily hop on a tram or metro; both are located within 200 meters. The workout facilities are better than average; there's even a Concept 2 ergometer (rowing machine), which is above and beyond what you'd expect at a hotel. The hot tub and steam room are also quite nice, and a great way to relax after a long day. The room size was adequate for my party of three--one king with a rollaway next to it. It was clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They booked a tour and a return SkyBus for us. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for a week at this hotel which was about 10-15 min walk to most of Melbourne's main attractions including the world class museum and aquarium! The hotel is in a quiet location next to the park and Queen Vic market. We stayed in a business room which was clean, comfortable and had nice bathroom amenities. The wifi was fast and the coffee from the Nespresso machine tasted great. We enjoyed our breakfast every morning at the restaurant. The reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel's HQ's on William restaurant and it was delicious.

friendly staff and good location. beds need upgrading as does the gym. however even if they fixed both it seems more like a solid 4 not 4.5

Quiet but close to transportation and to major downtown streets with plenty of restaurants; in room coffee and refrigerator allowed us to breakfast in the room. Good-sized room, good bad. Appreciated the Business Center, which allowed us complimentary use of internet on hotel monitors, since we don't like to travel with our laptop.

As soon as our Skybus arrived, [...]grabbed our heavier bags and brought them to the front desk reception, then took his place behind the desk and doubled as our Receptionist. Not only did he check us in efficiently, he then took out a very good map of Melbourne and started marking it to indicate where we were, what he thought we would like to see, and then asked what else we were interested in. He marked more places on the map, including dining Alfresco, Spanish, Chinese and Italian. He informed us that the buffet breakfast would be discounted if we made a reservation the night before. He asked which of the 5 newspapers we would like delivered to our door each morning and then assured us our luggage would be brought to our room promptly. Yes it was. By the time we found our way down the end of the hall to our room our bags were right behind us. I threw back the drapes to find our view is mostly new construction high-rises, but we can see the downtown if we stand to the left. We have a king-sized bed and a little round table as well as a computer desk and chair and Sharp HDTV with what appears to be about 10 stations, plus lots of sports stations. There are a few drawers under the TV and we both have night stands. There is a mini-bar and lots of shelves above that. We have a closet with an in-room safe and lots of room for hanging clothes. The bathroom has no storage but has a good sized counter, sink and a modern shower. The Radisson Hotel faces the beautiful Flagstaff Gardens. To the right of the hotel, after the Christmas Store, is the Queen Victoria Market, a 125 year old historic landmark, that is only open specific days of the week. The 'Free Bus' also stops between the market and the hotel to whisk us away to many popular areas of the city. The first night of our stay we dined in the HQ on William's Restaurant downstairs. We sat by the front window facing west, watching the sunset over Flagstaff Gardens and enjoyed a wonderful meal and good service. Our room here at the Radisson is warm and well-cleaned. We have found local restaurants for various meals and fresh bread and meats at the market to dine in our room when it is too cold to go out. The free internet worked perfectly. The hotel provided us with a converter that worked too. Yayy! When I didn't feel like pulling the laptop out I used the free Business Center, especially to print out itineraries. And, if you really enjoy sunsets, do as we did. Go upstairs to the rooftop pool and enjoy the spectacular view.Even when we were ready to board our Skybus back to the airport the concierge and front desk people could not do enough for us. They took time to print out our next flight's tickets and itinerary. We left feeling like royalty.

Nice hotel. Located on the edge of the city away from the hustle and bustle ... yet still close enough to be right in the heart within minutes. The concierge and other staff were very helpful in planning activities. Room was spacious and comfortable.

The hotel was nice, rooms were pretty big and clean. Staff was exceptional. Concierge and reception were very friendly, warm, and welcoming. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the rooms clean, toiletries and towels available. The entire hotel is non-smoking, which was a definitely PLUS for us. No complaints about the hotel. Only issue was location. It was a bit far from the CBD, so we almost always had to take transportation. Good thing is the free city circle tram is close by, but it stops running after 6pm. Very close to the Queen Victoria Market. If you plan to go there a lot, then this hotel is perfect. Overall, excellent hotel and I would recommend staying here.

This hotel was perfect - near the CBD but not smack in the middle of the CBD - directly across the street from beautiful Flagstaff Gardens. Our view of the Gardens (and city skyline) was terrific! The service was amazing from the reception desk, restaurant employees, and especially the concierge (they were wonderful - extremely helpful and accommodating). They were happy to answer any and all questions about the various sights, eating establishments, places to shop, transportation, etc., which was particularly important to us as first-time visitors. The rooms were quiet and peaceful and yet we were only a short walk from the free city tram (hop on and hop off) that runs around the city (clockwise and counter-clockwise) with frequent stops at points of interest. The very large hot tub and fitness center were on the top floor with a fantastic view of the city - pretty amazing. I would definitely recommend this super hotel!

At first the hotel seemed a bit out of the city center, but the multi-tram options easily made up for that. The room amenities were all you would want, inclulding free internet access, the only Australian hotel we stayed in that was and we enjoyed having the quiet park across the street and famous Victorian Market just a block away! Only warning: seems to be a business area so we couldn't find any local restaurants open after 9 pm weeknights or on weekends.

We went to Melbourne to see the tennis. The city made the coming and going very easy and the site was great but criwded. The hotel was first class, but not located on the right side of the city for easy access to the tennis. We used the opportunity to explore the city and there are free busses and trams fot tourists. We especially enjoyed the Victoria Night Market and a quality performance of Jersey Boys.

good location, quiet, friendly staff

A five minute walk from Queen Victoria market - right across from a beautiful park, extremely clean and comfortable, who could ask for more? The price is right for this place! Oh, and the restaurant was awesome. If you don't want to shop at the market, you are minutes from other downtown activities. Wish we could have stayed longer!

We asked for 2 beds but got one so had to move to another room with lesser view (construction). The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. It is located in business district with very few dining options after 3 pm because everything closes. Free trolleys were good option to go to other parts of city for dinner options. We did not eat the hotel but found it busy during cocktail hours each day. This hotel was much nicer than we expected and they were eager to serve.
