This was a 3-star hotel, not a 4-star hotel as advertised. Had some maintenance issues in the room. One day there was a power failure from lunchtime until the following morning. I complained and they got my room fixed in the evening, but I saw a generator in the hall the next morning, powering some of the rooms. Restaurant didn't have many choices. No place to sit in the lobby.

The room was clean and you had a choice of daily service The bed was really comfy and there was every thing you needed to provide and cook your own meals but the onsite was restaurant served great food at a reasonable price. Would stay again.

We booked online and asked for a double bed but we were allocated a room with two beds. Rang reception and they changed our room straight away. Lovely view of St Kilda Road but so noisy especially with the trams! We were also charged for parking which we weren't expecting. $25 per night but the car was safe and under cover.

The hotel room was clean and included everything you needed. The room we stayed in had views of the adjoining building so it was quite dark. It is located in a business district so on the weekend there is nothing close by where you can buy snacks, with just a convience store 5-7 mins walking distance. Dining is limited but there is a cafe restaurant next door.

Quite spacious and good value for money. I found the room very quiet, even though I was right next to the lift well. The overhead light in the bedroom was broken/missing and probably had been for some time. With only lamps and no windows, the room was very dark and cave like. Good for sleeping, but not for packing/unpacking. I found an item of underwear in the wardrobe left by a previous guest.

We’ve stayed her before and had a great experience a few years back, so decided to stay again with our kids. We travelled 7 hours from Canberra and had an event the evening of arrival so I confirmed a couple of weeks out that the check-in time was 2pm so we could prepare ourselves for the night ahead. We arrived close to 3pm and our rooms weren’t ready, we were told to go to the restaurant and sit for 15 minutes and then we would be able to check-in. I expressed that we had planned the timing so that our kids could nap after a long drive and we could refresh for our event. I didn’t even receive a mere “we’re sorry for the inconvenience”, just to go buy a drink at the onsite restaurant/bar. After the 15 minutes I went back to the lobby and was told only one of our rooms was ready and they would come let me know when the adjoining room was done. By the time we got the key for the second room we then had to wait for another staff member to unlock the adjoining doors which took another 30 minutes. I understand things don’t always go as planned but the fact that I had checked the time we could check-in combined with the lack of apologies for inconvenience really reflected the poor customer service. When we checked out 2 days later we weren’t even asked how our stay was. Maybe I’m old school but the customer service experience (or lack there of) will see us never return to Oaks. Waiting 2+hours for check-in without notice is ridiculous especially when no compensation is offered.
