Stayed one night, a Monday. Very easy to find, welcomed by an extremely friendly & professional receptionist. Easy secure parking. Room consisted of a double & single bed. Double was comfortable, the single bed not so much. Room very clean, bathroom small but modern. A full breakfast was included in the price, fresh, hot and a good variety.
We stayed here for a family of 3 holiday. The staff were all lovely, friendly & helpful. Buffet breakfast was great,enjoyable. need to pay for a decent coffee though , as only bland coffee machine comes with buffet. Dinner was great, we dinned in twice and enjoyed our meals. Room was clean and bed comfy, Only let down was the bathroom. No room to put any personal items, no shelf for shampoo etc. Floor floods and can be a hazard trying to then use the toilet or doing makeup etc. Handheld shower hose and a shower curtain were very disappointing. Lift is a bit dodgy - be careful if you have children. Ask for a glass screen ! Tram 3 minutes away. Free wifi.
Okay so this is day three of a four night stay and I've given you enough opportunity to sort it. Firstly the room is clean has a comfortable bed and the staff were as helpful as can be. Dear manager, when the hotel is full you need more staff!! One person to handle reception plus help in the restaurant and one bar staff to organise drinks, take orders, serve meals and deliver room service is not enough. The food was fine, relatively basic but fine on day one, breakfast is basic but okay. Night one, no suitcase stand in room, rang reception got one brought up, tv didn't work rang reception only girl on came and couldn't sort it, I ended up working out plug was dodgy in back of tv, also reported light in bathroom wasn't working. Day two evening couldn't enter room as door lock battery had gone flat, not their fault so got it sorted. Light still not fixed. Had dinner two hours later not feeling too flash, dinner?? Can't be sure but .... Day three morning, breakfast okay, get back to room and can't access, back to reception had to wait despite being late. Staff then brings up machine to override room lock again. Day three night, manage to access room okay this time. Bathroom light still not fixed...?? Water bottles in room hadn't been replenished in three days! Rang reception water brought up! Now, if you are a light sleeper look elsewhere as the noise at night is bad, rooms have little or no insulation, lots of doors banging and trolleys exiting elevator etc plus external noise from trams, helicopters etc. I know this sounds like I'm whinging but I ain't coming back! And my colleagues have the same impression. Sorry Mercure but it's not up to the standard we expect of a brand such as yours. Let's see how day four pans out! Fingers crossed.
Rebecca at reception excellent, as we're all the staff we had contact with. Room 130 very comfortable in every aspect, a bit of road noise in the morning. Breakfast included, buffet style, everything you could want, great. Stayed here for an appt at Royal Melb hospital, a very easy 10 min walk, same for the children hospital. Tram stop out the front. Car parking at $15 good value. For our stay all was fine regardless of low star rating by other guests. Definitely would stay there again.
We stayed at this motel because of its close proximity to the Royal Childrens Hospital. The rooms were large, quiet, very clean and ccmfortable. The staff were wonderful nothing was too much trouble from the reception to the restaurant /bar staff. Breakfast was very good also. Would highly recommend this motel and we will stay again.
We stayed here for one night and had a pleasant experience. Prior to booking, I searched and read reviews and few comments mentioned that it was reverberating noise of cars as it is situated on a busy road. When I made a booking, I requested to have a room away from the noise and was grateful the room given to us was well away from traffic thoroughfare. We had a peaceful night and slept well. With what I paid for, I didn't expect 5-stars rating. But the room spacious, beddings looks clean and fresh and the breakfast menu was ample and sufficient. I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends
Was disappointing. We stayed three nights. Room was clean enough and the place sufficiently comfortable. foxtel in the room as well. But you would hope that for a reputable hotel chain such as this, there would be free wifi, but you are instead prompted to buy 750 MB for $15+. You probably get better value for money with wifi just buying one of those $2 a day plan by Optus. Room was not made for one of the days. The room also has insufficient socket points to charge your phones etc (we only found one visible to us, which we had to disconnect the electric kettle to use). The mini bar price list was also not in the room, causing my partner to wrongly assume the mineral water was free. To their credit, they waived the bottle of water, but a missing price list and being missed by housekeeping suggest that somewhere something is very sloppy. Location is not great, but they could have made up for it with service. Not going to stay here again as the service did not wow us enough to make up for the lack of location.
Firstly, great staff, reception good, restaurant good , cleaning excellent, that said, this hotel is nearly worn out, even the signs on the wall saying the hotel is being renovated look like they've been up for years . Our room, 217 had white paint covering everything, walls, bathroom tiles the lot, looks awful, shower dripped constantly, we still enjoyed our stay, but hurry up with the reno, & stop charging for a cappaccino on top of breakfast charges
Nice room, comfortable bed and furnishings. Meals were available, we did not require this service on this occaision. Good location, close to tram stop and city. The main concern being the curtains - which were really dirty and disgusting.Hopefully due for an urgent update!!
One night stay in a junior suite worked well for a family with two teenage boys. Decor a bit tired but rooms and bathroom are spacious. The place is being renovated so appearance should improve. Very helpful reception staff. Easy tram or taxi ride to Melbourne central.
