Most uncomfortable sleeping sleep experience that I have ever had, I woke up multiple times through the night with serious back pain. The room was dry

I am a frequent traveller and I couldn't believe my eyes. This place is horrible-I couldn't believe it was that bad as I've stayed in Ibis and Kingsgate hotels and both chains are decent. But this particular hotel-you have to see to believe how bad it is. The whole building is rotten and I can't believe they are selling accommodation to people in this condition. The 1st room I got was smelly, the carpet was very old and smelly and the bathroom was disgusting-didn't want to touch anything. I asked them to move me to another room-it was a little better-at least the bathroom had been refurbished. But everything else was pretty old and the worst part was that I had no privacy at all. Very thin wall so I could hear the people next door talking-as if they were in my room. Everything about this place was so ugly and uncomfortable but priced as a decent 3-start hotel.Complete rip-off.

Decent place, good location, friendly and helpful staff. All round good value.

very sleek and clean. friendly staff. very good location

Generally we like Ibis hotels but this was one of the worse we have seen. Our smelly room was outfitted with old furniture . Window frames were old metal, almost impossible to close or open. There was a door to the adjacent room with about an inch gap below and every night we were listening to the tv next door. Smoke alarm featured a plastic bag that nobody bothered to remove. It was placed there probably to enjoy a cigarette without excessive commotion in a non-smoking room. The only room service we received were new tubes of shampoo and body wash. Fresh towels and linens must have been extra cost. If you like some free rock music in your bed, there is busy and loud club below that entertains all night.

Decent place with friendly staff. Hard to beat the price and location.

everything is great except the breakfast -- over-priced and too few choices.

everything is great except the lousy breakfast buffet. expensive and poor choices. take a 5-minute walk up the street and get a great omelette for a 1/3 of the price.

I'll get to the point ... For a 3 star Hotel is great !

My review is based on a 3 stars Hotel, incannit compare to a 4 or 5 star hotel. If you looking de fancy hotels then don't read this. This Hotel is great for what it is, a 3 star hotel in a great location. Rooms are decent size with all u need. Clean, well spread out, mini fridge, TV, coffee/tea, desk, iron, etc with nice bathroom. Staff are very helpful and nice, no wifi in room , unless u pay for it ($18 p day), but ur paying cheap room so don't expect everything included (wifi, breakfast, etc) I highly recommend this hotel ! I will stay there next time I go to Melbourne

Excellent value for the price, and convenient to the Southern Cross station (airport SkyBus). Several amenities that are usually associated with fancier places, such as shampoo in plastic tubes rather than foil envelopes (or none at all); a big, modern TV set; and adequate lighting. Not to be confused with the Hyatt, but at well under half the price I was more than satisfied. I would return if I wanted to be in that area again. The main entrance, with about ten steps up from the street, is not wheelchair-friendly; I don't know if there is an alternate entrance from another side.

The room was clean and comfortable and a great value for the price. It was a bit noisy, however, due to noisy neighbors (could happen anywhere) but also due to music from the nightclub across the street - maybe not a good option for light sleepers?

This is not my first time at this hotel, and previous stays were decent to very good. However this time despite asking for room change during my 5 nights I kept getting rooms that were quite noisy. There seems to be machinery noise 24/7 where my room was, and the other room I was given had a lot of street traffic noise. Apparently for the same class of rooms you can get totally inferior rooms as opposed to decent ones(on my previous stay)..

The room was tiny. The corners of the bathroom had dirt in them. The bathroom ceiling had mildew. The bathroom door was a sliding door hung in front of an opening, had no anchor on the bottom so would easily swing, and did not close all the way. The bathroom window was glass slats and the outside screen was shredded. The internet was overpriced (15 minutes per day free). The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good (fruit, bread/toast, cereal, unsweetened yogurt) and the same every day. The lobby looks nice. The staff was friendly. The location was convenient for me.

Kingsgate is somewhat old hotel. However, it has proper renovations in the rooms and is a comfortable place to stay as a budget traveller like me. Overall, I got satisfied with the vaule for money I paid for this hotel.

Dear Bad Back, we are glad to see that you like our vending machine in the hotel. About the bed, we will definitely take a look at the room you stayed in and change it accordingly.
