I enjoyed everything about my stay except for some construction noise in the morning. The hotel is remodeling some rooms. Staff was very attentive with good English skills. My room was spacious, comfortable and very nicely equipped. The shower was spectacular. Plenty of hot water and great water pressure. WiFi was good in the room. Mini-bar items were reasonably priced. I did not try the included breakfast. Hotel is walking distance to Santa Fe and Oviedo malls and a short taxi ride toParque Lleras. Also nearby is La Strada, a collection of excellent restaurants.
Nice hotel. Rooms nice - some construction issues - shower doors not fitting, blinds not opening. Comfortable bed. Good food. Odd call system in the restaurant that seems to give staff an excuse to ignore you.
It has all your basic needs, very clean decent size rooms and great service. Santa Fe Mall is a black away if you want to shop. It is a great mall that is about 4 stories high with plenty of places to eat and shop. I recommend this place for the price and location
We stayed in the Porton Hotel for 3 nights, manly because of my brothers wedding reception in the hotels restaurant. The rooms are ok, but rather pricy, and considering, that my brother had his wedding reception there, they didn´t even give us a room with a view. As a family we were given rooms on 4th and 8th floor, which was kind of inconvenient. Also the room on 8th floor was very outdated and needed modernizing. The breakfast however was really good and vast, with a nice view onto the bamboo garden. We had our laundry there for cleaning, which was quite expensive and in the end we had several pieces missing. At least in the end we were reembursed for it
The hotel its in a good location and the attention of the staff is very nice, with a tasty breakfast every morning, in general is a good place to stay, in medellin, near the hotel you find good places to eat and shop.
This hotel is right across the largest and newest mall in Medellin (Santa Fe Mall). And if you get bored of this huge mall, there is another one at a 3-5 min walking distance called Oviedo. There is a 24 hour supermarket 2 min away. The included breakfast offered many options and after a week I never felt bored of the food. Rooms are nice and the bed the greatest I have stayed in a while. Tip: The currency exchange rate offered at the Hotel is not the greatest. At the Oviedo mall you can find more options with better rates
It was just an ok hotel. I have stayed in better places in Medellin. Although I really liked the free breakfast full of tropical fruits and the friendly front desk staff. I would come back if the rates were a little lower.
We booked the room at 9 am the same day we were gonna arrive. We booked through the webpage, filled in the info about our arrival time, got an email confirmation etc. But when we arrived (1 am) apparently nobody knew we were coming, they hadn't received our booking, and the night-receptionist told me they had absolutely NO available rooms for us or NOTHING. He was insisting and kept saying no; but after arguing my case for 30 minutes (in both Spanish & English), him making some phone calls, apparently an available room magically appeared out of nowhere. I was very frustrated with the night-receptionist; I think he was being rude and not very helpful, and certainly not understanding of the situation he was putting us on; leaving us to search for another hotel at 1 AM!!!! Anyway the breakfast isn't great, but probably the best in all of the country. All of the staff are REALLY nice though. I think the fitness area could definitely improve itself; almost no machines nor room, and the areas is located in the spa area where people go to get massages and champagnes, so obviously; playing music wasn't an option - you just have to work out in silence I was working out (you may recall this is in the sam area) and said to me she wanted to move me up to do the treatment know, because another client wanted my scheduled time. So she practically smashed my schedule; leaving me to work out after getting a nice massage and smelling great, which makes no sense. Apart from that incidence she was nice; a pleasant person who really wanted to provide me with service. The outside spa area looked really dirty, and I definitely wouldn't wanna use it. Apart from all of this, I think it is a shame that only 1 receptionist out of 3 actually spoke English; not to mention no one else in the hotel seemed to do so. That being said, the staff are friendly (except for the night guy, grrrr)
This time I stayed at total of 9 nights. The Hotel is undergoing renovations as it was in 2012. It is an older hotel and is in the process of getting upgraded so it may not suit some at the moment. For those visiting Medellin it is a short taxi drive to Parque Llera which is a main cafe / nightclub area for tourists. It is very well located across from the Santa Fe shopping mall, the largest one in Medellin (Across the road) and also about 50m back across from Santa Fe mall is the Oviedo mall, also heaps of shopping, very nice and modern centres. The hotel gets a lot of business from conventions throughout the year as well as tourists and this did not detract from my time there or the level of service, always people coming and going. THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT - As per last time and again this time is the level of service from all the staff there which is excellent. From Management, the main desk staff to the restaurant waiters, concierge, bellboys, cleaners, all are helpful, professional and attentive and made the stay enjoyable. Aside from the condition of any hotel or amenities which people may have different preferences for coming to a hotel where the staff make you feel welcome and will do their utmost to ensure your stay is a good pretty feeling on holidays and comes before anything else. Taxis are generally out the front or very quick to get there. Will definately be staying there again next time I am in Medellin.
I don't know if I was at the hotel for a complete eight hours. For this my review is only first impression. Lobby looked like stepping into the eighties with a a fresh coat of paint. Rooms where updated with all the commodities but in a strange way. Breakfast was very good and service was great. Not my first choice in Medellin but a room to stay when all others are booked. Hope this is useful. Cheers... Very British today.
