I've been here 3 times and love this place. It's right by the airport, with free valet, to and from. The staff is exceptional!!! They bend over backwards to please and help, all with smiling faces and genuine concern. (Thank you Julio! for making my stay so very comfortable!!! ) Just about everything you need is on the property. A restaurant, Saman, with an awesome buffet breakfast! It is opened every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and available for room service. Another one, opened, I believe wed-sun, afternoon and evenings. It is called the Piccati. It's a wonderful, homey/romantic/comfortable/quaint little place, that plays really good music. Oh yeah, the food is really good too! The hotel rooms have been remodeled since I was here last, about a year ago. It is stylish and comfortable, with a lot of places to set and enjoy everything from the fire in the common lounge to a bench by a water fountain outside. There are a lot of amenities: Heated outdoor pool, with free classes of some sort in the a.m. hours, a hot tub, a little game room with ping pong and billiards, etc. There is a gym with the standard treadmills and weights. And a spa. The beds are cozy with plenty of pillows . The towels are thirsty and abundant. The water pressure is superb. Our room had a mini bar with snacks, booze, juices and waters.(at a price of course) I will be back!!!
I have stayed here many times over the last 15 years and it gets better every time. I must thank Julio at the front desk. He went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and had every thing I needed during my stay. He would text me when he was not at work to make sure the on duty staff were treating me good.....he also gave me his personal phone number to call if I needed anything......he is an asset to the staff at Movich, Las load Rio negro, Colombia
I stayed here a few times when visiting Rionegro. The hotel is modern and stylishly decorated. Rooms are nice and spacious, and many recently build during recent remodelation. Restaurants are fine, nice and cousy, good quality food although maybe a bit more quantity would make it better. Staff is very helpful, and happy to support you if any special need. Free regular transfers to airport makes everything easier and saves taxi expenses. Definitively recommended if you're in Rionegro/Airport area
The hotel has been remodelled with dark rich decor of wood and carpets that give the hotel an air of sophistication. I love the new look but the service excellence did not need an upgrade. The staff is just as welcoming professional and helpful. I needed to go to the airport cargo Center and Jason (the shuttle driver) drove me over and waited for me as I sent off my packages. I cannot thank him enough. At breakfast time I enjoyed the hot chicken soup and an array of fresh fruit, buñuelos, pan de bono. There is something for every taste. The restaurant staff is just as generous as everyone else in the hotel. My only complaint is that the spa/beauty shop was not opened because as I was told it was a holiday. It was a disappointment as I enjoy the works while visiting this hotel. Nonetheless my stay was exceptional. The front desk even provided me with the fee to pay for a cab as I had run out of cash which I could then pay with my debit card. This hotel never ceases to amaze me with their superior service.
The hotel is nice and the areas like the pool are very comfortable, the service ir very good all the staff are ready to help you. But the rooms are not as I expected for the price I payed, for less price I have stayed at better rooms. The breakfast was the worst during my stay, it was very poor and not good quality. Not recommended!
We booked this Movich hotel due to an early morning flight to El Salvador from the nearby airport. (Earlier we had stayed in the very nice NH Medellin in an upmarket part of the city.) The Movich was okay, but we were let down by several issues. First, when we checked in, they couldn't find our reservation for about 15-20 minutes, having to make phone calls, etc. This was apparently due to our having booked via Booking.com and the systems 'aren't linked'. This made a poor first impression. Our room was pleasant, however, though we had booked for two people, there was only one big and one small towel - and no bath mat. Also, there was garbage left by the previous occupant, a large crumpled shopping bag on a shelf under the sink. I don't think I have ever found left-over garbage in a hotel room! Room service was disappointing: my husband ordered a Caesar Salad and it came with lettuce, a few pieces of cheese, some croutons and it was 'dressed' with a touch of plain salad oil. We are used to Caesar Salads being a bit different in every country, but this was really unacceptable, there needs to be some sort of eggy/creamy dressing to make the salad work. We called to complain and discuss a replacement and the staff started to argue with us, even calling back to argue some more - and then they asked if we 'had touched the salad' ?! How is one supposed to answer that? Yes, my husband had taken a bite to taste it, as one does! We gave up re-ordering and he ate some of my meal. When we checked out the next morning, we had to argue to have the salad taken off the bill. Another final small issue: there is a shuttle bus to the airport. On it were crew from two different airlines. We gave our airline details to the driver. He drove up to the terminal and dropped all passengers off at the far end. We couldn't find our check in, and asked some of the crew. Turns out we had to walk the length of the terminal building back to our check in. It would be a nice touch if the bus would drop their guests at the correct end of the terminal instead of just dropping every one where it is most convenient for airline staff to check in. Another issue to note, very, very few staff speak English, which is strange for an airport hotel. At the NH hotel closer to downtown, all front desk staff spoke Englsh. One positive note: I did get some friendly help in printing out my boarding passes on the night before our flight after the front desk got a young fellow who spoke English.
We stayed here recently one night before heading out early the following morning (i.e. 3 am) for a flight back home. While we had booked on-line for a standard room, we were offered an upgrade to a newly renovated room (Room 302 for 97,500 pesos), which featured a separate living area, and super washroom. It also gave us a discount on food and beverages. The room itself was excellent, and very recently renovated. The washroom was very modern, and featured a really nice shower. We were just sorry that we couldn't have spent more time at this hotel, but had a very early morning flight to catch. We also received one welcome drink each in the bar. The only issue we experienced was when we went to eat in the restaurant for dinner, they had a band that was rehearsing (with drums), and it was very difficult to carry on a conversation. We decided to leave, and look at other options. We were informed by the front desk, that we could eat in the lounge/bar, and that they had the same menu as the restaurant. It was much quieter at this location, and we noticed that we were not the only people who decided on this approach. The server was very friendly and efficient. The hotel also had a really nice outdoor area, including peacocks and ducks, along with a really nice swimming pool. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use the pool area, since it was raining, and rather cool when we were there. Overall, the staff were very accommodating and friendly, including the front desk and bar staff, and we would definitely check this place out again when we need a location by the airport.
A group of eight is us stayed 10/22/17 at Movich Las Lomas, and ate dinner at the hotel restaurant that evening. Six of eight were flying out the next morning to US after spending a week in Medellin. Six of us were very ill Monday through Wednesday, one person was OK, and one I haven't heard back from. We all surmise our "travelers" disease came from the restaurant. We had various dishes (chicken skewers, Caesar salmon salad, pear salad, filet mignonette), so it wasn't one particular food that was the problem. I suggest eating somewhere else until this hotel publicly acknowledges the problem and that it has been resolved. How else will you know what is safe and not safe to eat at this restaurant?
If you have a layover at the airport in Medellin this is the perfect place. I stayed in the new area of the hotel, everything excellent. The room clean, the bed very comfortable, great place to stay. The hotel has a shuttle to the airport every 30min. Also breakfast included, the breakfast is a buffet style with an omelette station. You can find everything to eat.. I recommend this place...
Stayed here many times. It is the only substantial hotel near the airport. There is another hotel near the airport but it does not have air conditioning. The Movich Las Lomas offers free transfers to the airport. The breakfast is excellent. The hotel has a large pool with small pools for children, a game area, and conference rooms. Part of the hotel is currently undergoing renovation. This is a great place for families or business people.
