I have stayed at this hotel multiple times for business. I’ve never been disappointed. My last visit came with an upgraded room. I didn’t realize this hotel had rooms equivalent to an apartment. My room was separate from the living room. I had a full kitchen including a full size refrigerator. My bathroom came with a sauna tub and shower. Very impressive! I will continue to come to this hotel on business and pleasure. Thanks
Staff was very friendly but the room seemed a little dated or to show some wear. The worst thing was that there was little to no water pressure, barely enough to keep shower going without kicking off.
The new Holiday Inn Express hotels have been very consistent for me throughout LA and TX. This Pharr, TX location was no different - exactly what I expect from Holiday Inn. Clean rooms, friendly service, and a willingness to accommodate guests. There is a Rudys BBQ in front of this hotel which is a nice bonus.
This is my 2nd stay in six months. I was in room 420. They have attempted to update. But the filth is disgusting. Tile in the bathroom under the sink is so dirty, it will take a putty knife to clean. AC unit hasn't been cleaned. Half assed job fixing wall near tub I am posting pictures... They speak for themselves. I will be staying somewhere else.
My stay was a good one, BUT after a long hot sunny day, I really was hoping to get into the pool. I even brought my Mother for Mother's day to chill out there with me, and then we find out the pool is closed. I was probably the only guest in that hotel and they could not do something to clean the pool. That was so disappointing, the Guest representative told me it would be done I the morning, and I waited, and believe me I waited to get into the pool and NOTHING . Pool was still out of order it was until the next day I checked out when in the after noon I saw it had been put in Order. Got me so frustrated, a pool is required in a hot place like the Valley. From a 5 point rating I give it a 3 for disappointing me in my stay.
We stayed at this hotel for nearly two weeks while on business in McAllen. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is ample parking. The rooms are clean and housekeeping does an excellent job. One thing I would recommend is if you are here for an extended period of time, get a room on the north side (away from the pool). The garbage truck comes every other day at 6:30am and was loud enough to wake us. Daily breakfast is the typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast, but the cinnamon rolls are hot and taste great. There is always plenty of coffee.
Upon check-in, I was greeted with a smile & an upgrade, since I am a Priority Club member. The king suite has had updates, but many things are still nasty. The tub has rust & stains. The caulk around the air conditioner is awful. Someone should walk around in every room & make a list of all the things that need painted/changed or replaced. There is a BBQ restaurant called Rudy's. Great food.
I stayed one night and when I left the hotel and checked out I forgot my charger on the headboard outlet. I realized that I had taken it and called the hotel as I was still in the area, staying at another hotel about 30 miles away and was willing to go get the charger as I needed it to fly out. I called the hotel told them I left it and told them my room number. They said the room was not sold that night and they would go check and call me back. I never received a call back that day. The next morning since my phone was dead, I had to use the hotel phone at the front desk (since the phone in my room did not allow me to dial out) and called again. They had no notes about my previous call. The person said they would check and call me back. I waited 15 minutes and did not get a call back. I called again and asked for a manager. The person told me he was the manager. I asked again and explained this was my third call and I needed to know if I had to go pick it up before my flight. The person said I would have to wait until housekeeping could go check. I asked him to go check as I was going to have to add an hour to my round trip journey to pick it up. He said he would and placed me hold. I was on hold for 15 minutes. I finally hung up and made the drive out there. When I got there the front desk person just laughed and said that they did not find it. No apologies for rotten service, no idea where it went since it was not sold. I think they just lied to me the whole time. I expect Holiday Inn to reimburse me for the item they could not return to me especially since they kept lying to me repeatedly about looking for it. It didn't just disappear into thin air.
The hotel has recently been remodeled, yet there was rust & mold on the wall next to the bathtub, the tv had an awful picture - very faint picture. No wonder the cafe area was empty at 8 a.m. The breakfast was disgusting. The scrambled eggs were yellow gelatinous cubes, the "ham" looked like Spam, & biscuits were more like rocks. The front desk people were very friendly & accomodating, though. There are so many other options if you have to stay in this area, so shop around.
We had to make a last minute trip to south Texas. We've stayed here before and always had excellent service. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was hot, and the service was great. We will come back.
