Quality Inn Mazatlan

The price was ok, the location is good but hotel policies suck. I called reception to ask for house keeping we needed more towels. The girl from reception asked for our room number and said: "since you're checking out today you're not allowed to get more towels" of course I was upset and asked why was that, so she answered: "let me check if housekeeping WANTS to send you some" what is that about??

Really liked this hotel but be prepared for the street noise. We stayed on a Thursday night but still had to hear load music from cars cruising the strip. Otherwise the hotel is clean, modern and offers a great breakfast.

I stayed at the Quality Inn for three nights during the Mazatlan Carnaval. I booked quite late, so there wasn't much availability. In all honesty, it probably wouldn't have been my first choice. Prices were ramped up (x3) for the carnival period. Having read some of the reviews, I didn't expect much more than a soulless hotel, so I was quite surprised at what I found. It's not the prettiest of buildings, but it was pleasant enough for a short stay. The pool area was decent. There's a (small) gym. Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was good, and included in the rate. Wifi was excellent. They have three computers and a printer in the lobby for guests to use. The room was comfortable - large balcony overlooking the pool, iron/board, safe, good shower. In summary - not the most exciting of places, but nothing bad about it at all. At normal room rates, I'd consider it a bargain.

My husband and I stayed here on the last night of Mardi Gras. We really enjoyed the location as the city was very busy and loud with people partying until all hours of the night. Beds are great and rooms are large. We loved the hot breakfast in the morning with plenty of fruit and lots of selection. We would stay here again!

Good secure parking, nice location, clean, and well designed. The staff was quick at checking us in and happy to help however they could. Their English was limited, but better than my Spanish -- we worked together and everything was smooth. Breakfast was included in the rate I selected. It was a large layout of good food, with good presentation. My room safe did not work but the front desk was happy to hold my new fishing reel and iPad while we ate.

So difficult to check in. Reception had to call the bell captain to help translate everything. Room had very few outlets considering how many people have a lot of electronics with them when they travel. Beds were very comfortable, although my friend had to practically jump up to get into hers. They only provide two bath towels and hand towels. No facecloths so you need to call for those. That's the overall review. I need to praise the evening bell captain, Victor Valdez. Oh my gosh! More of a concierge extraordinaire. He not only translated every thing with perfect English, he offered to go to the store for us to get a bag of ice. He helped when we couldn't get the internet working. He recommended places to go. He needs to be promoted to manager. That's for sure.

If you're expecting something equal to any of the big resorts in town, you'll be disappointed ~ but if you're looking for a decent, clean hotel in a great location at a great price, this is a good choice. My ONLY complaint is that while there was a coffeemaker and coffee in the room, there was no decaf and no creamer or sugar. Housekeeping did a great job changing sheets every day and making sure there were fresh towels. They even swept and mopped the balcony. My room, which faced the street, was actually very quiet and the only outside noise I heard was a band playing down the street on a Friday night ~ and I enjoyed it. The pool area is really nice. Great lounge chairs with cushions and umbrellas and a few table and chair sets with umbrellas as well. The pool is well maintained with crystal clear water and an attached jacuzzi. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I would definitely stay there again! Check prices on different websites, then visit the Quality Inn website ~ they offer different deals all the time, like if you find a lower price, you get one night free. I would definitely stay there again. Coffeemaker, check. Clean sheets, check. Fresh towels, shampoo and soap, check. Fast and free wifi, check, great pool area, check, continental breakfast, check. courteous staff, check. Free parking in a secure gated lot, check. I stayed at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay earlier in the month and while Quality Inn is older and does not have 3 pools and a swim up bar, Pueblo Bonito did not even offer wifi, other than in the public areas, nor did I get clean towels and sheets daily. I know it saves water and all that, but it's one of the luxuries I enjoy in a hotel. I would definitely stay at Quality Inn again. It was a great value.

We stayed here along with 8 other families. No breakfast included and to top it off when eating breakfast at the restaurant they gave us the higher price not the promotional breakfast price even though we were guests at the hotel! Don't loose your room keys you will be charged for $50 pesos for each card. My cousin left his wallet in a Taxi and it was turned into the hotel, the only way they would have known he was a guest of the hotel was because his room keys were in his wallet ( he wasn't dropped off or picked up from the hotel) Yet hotel staff claims there were no cards in the wallet and he was charged for them! wallet was also stripped of cash can't blame hotel for that but still makes you wonder...... Rooms are average our balcony view sucked! They only place two towels in the bathroom even though they know there are 4 to a room. Older lady at the front desk is extremely rude and has an attitude. If you ask for any extras like a crib or extra shampoo be prepared to seem like shes the guest and not you!! I could go on and on and on complain about how our rooms were not ready at 3pm and how Check out was at 12:00pm and yet they were trying to kick us out at 11am!! We had 9 rooms booked at this property for 4 days and I will NEVER book here again!!

I was booked into this hotel for one night only… and that was one night too many. When staying in “chain hotels”, such as the Quality Inn, you expect consistent quality throughout the world. This is a "3 star" and I must rate it as such, but this must be the poorest Quality Inn that I have ever stayed in. POSITIVE POINTS: Staff was friendly, and Check-in was a breeze. This hotel is still relatively new, and the public areas are nicely set up. Pool area is great, and relaxing, despite being rather small. Hotel is also quite well situated, with a variety of option for bars, restaurants and clubs within a short walk from the hotel. Internet is free, with glitches, but got the work done over time. Wide choice of TV channels, and efficient and silent air-conditioning systems. Anything else in this section?... Unfortunately not! NEGATIVE POINTS: What a disappointment arriving in the rooms. I know this is a “cheap” hotel, but really??? Does it really need to “feel” this cheap and extremely basic in the room? It does, and it disillusions. Walls are really thin, and noise easily flows into the room. I am surprised with the lack of soundproofing of the rooms. Noise comes from neighbors and from the road outside, with “pulmonias” driving by with their loud music… so alive into the room. Shower is a joke. Not a drop of hot water. I love a nice hot shower in the morning, but hey… listen… NOTHING like that here. Only cold water, and that really killed me. Pathetic, honestly. Continental breakfast is really basic, with limited choices. As to the sleep quality, I mentioned above about the noise. That is bad enough… but no, there is more. I woke up the next morning with various bites on my arms and hands. I had to go to the chemist, on the corner, to get something to sooth the itch. Sadly, I found out from the pharmacist that they came from “bed-bugs”. Seriously??? Unfortunately, yes. This killed the rest of my experience in this place. SUMMING UP: This is the Quality Inn, and even for a 3 star hotel, this deserves no more than a 2 point (being generous) rating on my TA scale… the few positive points above save it from me giving this place a 1 point rating. For me the best part of the “stay” was checking out. I was just so happy to get out of this place. I cannot remember the last time I felt this happy to leave a bad experience behind me. If I will come back? - NO WAY AT ALL… there are so many choices in Mazatlan, that I do not need to waste money on this place. OK, I paid about 80 Euros for my stay… but for what I got, it was 79 Euros too expensive. I hate giving bad reviews… but this was the reality of MY stay in this poor hotel.

I originally booked here for 4 days thinking I would stay in the Centro area at a later date. But checking out of hotels and moving is quite an inconvenience. I like it enough here to extend a few more times. I stayed here a total of 10 nights. Do your searches for good prices, sometimes you will see a big difference in prices. As far as good things, this location isn't bad. If you want to walk to the beach ask them where, and the walk is about 5 minutes. There was really strong waves during my first few days, so I never went in the water. The pool looks OK, the Internet was actually pretty fast, except for on Friday nights when the hotel seems to get busy. Otherwise the Internet is fast enough to watch and load several YouTube videos at the same time. It was very rare for me to here any loud noises. Once in a great while maybe I would hear a big truck outside driving too fast, or hear fireworks, or Mexican kids running in the hallway. Kids running and playing in hallways seems to be common in Mexico though. I don't really have any complaints except for them giving you a wrist band to wear, it isn't all inclusive or anything. And on my 3rd or 4th night security seemed to be very intent to look in my room to see what I was doing. They did everything they could to come in my room. A guy comes to the room at night and brings me an iron and ironing board. I said I didn't ask for that. We talked just a little. 1 second later another man that I recognize as standing security around the building come to the door before I even close the door on the first man. He opens his hands and showed me a bunch of batteries. I said I don't need any batteries, the remotes work fine. Well, he insisted he change them all. I wasn't hiding anything in the room, and I was alone. So I said OK. He came in pretended to check the remotes to the A/C, TV, and cable box. I think for sure he just wanted to have a look in the room. I never called anyone for an iron and ironing board and I didn't ask for remote control batteries. This was about 9PM, so that is an unusual time for someone wanting to change batteries. Luckily they never came back to my room again. Or perhaps they waited until I left. Overall I'd stay here again if the price continues to stay low.
