This is a 1st class hotel. The staff is great and goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself. They plan things for you and makes sure you know about it. The rooms are all differently themed. They are very clean. The grounds are clean. The owners are friendly and kind. The manager is extra special. She makes my stay extra special. Will I come back, of course I will.
There are reviews of all sorts on this place. I’ve been to one stars in a pinch, and 5 stars aplenty. This place is solid. They are right, no on site parking. But they have a deal with the Carl’s Jr. directly across the street for 100 pesos security guarded parking. And they give you a 100 peso certificate for Carl’s jr since they don’t have breakfast. Better than a Hampton inn, right? The place directly across the street, GusGus is a tourist trap, think ChiChis or Chevys. But hey, they have live musicians several nights a week until 11. It’s loud. But you’re in Mexico! This place has balconies in three sides and three levels. Tables, chairs, and couches; and live music until 11:00. Beach access bordered by two back to back hotels with private access = secluded beach access. It’s pet friendly, has full kitchens with set ups, the beds are decent, the linens are clean, and housekeeping makes towel animals each day they clean. Please message me directly if you find better for <$30. And have fun.
This hotel was perfect for what I needed. Family was staying nearby and I mainly wanted somewhere to sleep. I read the reviews before booking and was happy that I booked here. Pros: The place is spotlessly clean. The staff are all super kind and responsive. They make you feel welcome and tend to your every request. Price 28-35 US dollars per night. (3% extra if you pay by credit card. They also take a 200 peso $10 deposit) The rooms are large and mine included a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. Location 50 meters from the beach with a direct path nearby. Close to (1/2 block from) Costa de Oro and in the heart of the golden zone. Easy walk to Panamas, Starbucks and some other nice local coffee shops. A/C (in bedroom only) works great Cons: Loud. Gus Gus across the street plays music loud and late and the sound carries to this hotel. On weekends the place fills up with Durango people and they pack them into the rooms 4-6 and they can also be loud. But just bring some earplugs or headphones with white noise. There are stairs and no elevators so if you are mobility impaired / wheelchair bound this place is not for you. If you want a four star hotel for these rates you won’t find that here (or anywhere) but if you want clean, kind and charming and close to the golden zone and the beach you may like this.
Excellent. Treated like family. Friendly and willing to make suggestions on things to do and places to eat. Involve guests with potluck dinners and parties on special occassions. Hotel is located in the heart of the Gold Zone and is practically on the beach,
Advertised $24/night -paid a $100. No hot water, windows that do not close, the stench from the leaking toilet terrible. Mold in the walls, paint chipping off the ceiling, in shower. NEVER STAY HERE!!
We stayed in #10 Hacienda which is a suite with 2 double beds and a kitchen. There are a group of Canadians who come here every year and love it. My own review is a little more mixed. For the money, it's overall good. The Pros: Hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beach. It is small and charming with lots of outdoor seating for enjoying the ocean, sunrises and sunsets. They have a BBQ for you to use. Bus and private taxis stop right outside the door. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Staff very friendly. Clean. The Cons: Most reviews mention the noise from the bar across the street. They understate it. Live band plays until midnight and it's like they are right in the room with you, it's that loud. The bar continues to play music until 3 a.m. with people screaming. If you are a light sleeper, better not stay here. The ads mention hotel parking being available. They don't tell you there is a fee of $50 (MX) per night to park. Was surprised that when staff prepared the room for us as new guests, they didn't leave a new roll of toilet paper or bottle of water. One use of the bathroom and we had no paper left. Water bottle almost empty. Very poor when preparing a room for new guests. I give it 3 stars.
I traveled alone and decided to pamper myself at one of the major hotels. I had a nice room, a view, a private balcony and on the beach. I booked there for a few days, but was bored. A friend recommended Mariana Beach Hotel so we stopped by.They didn't have a room for the amount of nights I needed, but it wasn't long before the manager Sofia called and said some changes were made so they had a room available. Its an older hotel but it was very clean but basically what I got would be considered a suite for $100 US less per night for a normal room then at the other hotel. Nice bedroom, bed was very comfortable and a living room like at home where you could have guests over.It was nice having a kitchen an to be able to stock the fridge Free wifi too. It was really nice and I was so much more relaxed. There was one long patio that ran the length of the hotel, alive with plants and with tables and chairs where you could sit alone or say hi to a neighbor. On top of the hotel was one big patio with a nice view where you could socialize or enjoy the view alone.. Very centralized in the Golden Zone. And only about 50 or so yards to the beach. The service was great and Sophia was a big help and very professional. The whole staff was very pleasant. I really wish I could have stayed longer. Next time I will.
Especially for the price. I did not expect being in a one bedroom apartment rather than a hotel room - and I enjoyed every minute of it! The property itself is very comfortable and the library of English language books was a nice touch (even though I was too busy trolling around the city where my grandfather was born to take time out to read one.) The location also worked out very well for me. I didn't want to leave, and would do it again in a heartbeat! Once you're settled in, head to the nearby Mega Comercial Mexicana to stock up on snacks, liquid supplies and if it looks good, something to make in the kitchen. It will improve the quality of your stay big time.
Our first impression of the hotel was poor. There was a misunderstanding over billing at reception. The promised air conditioning was only in the bedroom, not in the rest of the apartment. But the next morning, day crew settled the mixup and were very helpful, providing beach chairs and umbrella. I do not recommend this hotel for summer travel.
I really loved my stay here. I went to see an awesome dentist named Eduardo Ibarra Z. so I stayed here for 12 days. I had a living-room/diningroom, separate kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It was like having my own little condo. The rooftop sitting area and BBQ is a great place to watch the sunset on the beautiful ocean. Sophia is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and will bend over backwards to make you happy. I speak no Spanish so she took her time with me to make sure I knew everything I needed to know to insure I had a nice time and/or got to my dentist in the easiest, cheapest way possible. She told me how much things should cost and how to negotiate with taxi drivers and such. I just really, really loved staying here. When I left I asked about being able to stay for a month and there are times of the year when it is cold in the states where I could do it. More than a few Americans and Canadians already do and I can see why. If you are the type of person that likes the most expensive 5-star, all-incusive hotel then this might not be your thing, but if you want a place that feel like home for a fraction of the cost of some sterile resort then you should definitely check it out. It is my new go to place whenever I have time to get away from my nose-to-the-grindstone day-in-day-out life in the states. Oh and Dr. Eduardo Ibarra Z. did like 12K worth of dental work for about 1,200USD and it was as good as any US dentist I have ever been to or better. I will never over-pay for a dental work in the USA again. Never.
