We just returned from the Playa Mazatlan and had a lovely family vacation (14 of us!). Great beach and really nice pools. Lots of variety at this resort. Overall, we thought the food was above average. Drinks could use some improvement. Lots of musical entertainment and fabulous theater, although we wish shows were in English or at least better translated. Awesome sports bar, super cool rock caves. Looks like they are renovating their rooms. We got an old one, but it was in a good location and decent enough. If we were guaranteed a renovated room, I think we'd be back in a heartbeat. We liked the layout and grounds of this resort. Overall, mostly positive comments and we'd return/recommend to friends.
ones of the best hotel ubication, friendly staff, good food and the best point very nice restaurant view
Todo el personal es super. Todos se portaron muy bien. El ambiente fue fenomenal no se diga el Grupo Tekila.
15th yr family vacation amazing again..new hot tub and pool amazing. .very clean and Oceanview rooms r awesome. .staff very friendly and of course can't forget the hard working vendors.Julia,Henry,Raymond and Sato...and our jewelry girls....breakfast buffet is a must..we never do all inclusive we do breakfast only and go different restaurants for dinner within walking distance of hotel..we spent 11 enjoyable days..thanks and see you next year
All inclusive is worth it! They have a great Massuese, pool, jacuzzi and overall relaxing experience. There are vendors, which was almost annoying except for Raymond (sells silver jewelry and make sure to ask him for the solid silver stuff) and Henry. Nice guys.
Nice grounds ,clean rooms, good location to shopping
Hotel is not the fanciest, but clean, good location and great breakfast!! Would definitely stay here again!!
Convenient to everything. Clean. A bit noisy but was able to change rooms.
I take most reviews with a grain of salt since people tend to complain/overreact about everything. BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY SAY THE BEDS ARE AS HARD AS A ROCK! The food was good. I was pretty happy with tacos every day and they usually had some kind of roast/carve every day. Omelet station in the morning. Bar was good. Cleaning ladies, front desk, and bell boys were great. Wait staff was so-so. Not great service but not terrible either. Typical 3 star resort. The hotel grounds were nice, beach was very extremely clean, vendors extremely aggressive. Some would literally not leave you alone after repeatedly telling them NO THANK YOU for 5 minutes straight. We hung out at the pool for that reason. The room itself was awful (Room #230 2-3-0). Beds are literally hard as a rock. I didn't even know you could manufacture a bed that hard. It's quite shocking. In fact, the box spring itself is a concrete slab. I know, shocking! I tossed and turned all night and woke up unable to move each morning. The floor tiles were loose. The bathroom has seen MUCH better days. Broken tiles, small mirror. The toilet tank was one flush away from falling off. Paint on paint on paint. Grout on grout on grout. It was pretty gross. If the rooms got a remodel (which they may actually be in the process since some of the rooms had new dual pane sliders) and they brought in better beds, I would stay here again. I, unfortunately, would not stay again based on the beds alone. I was exhausted each day!
The entire staff at this hotel are very welcoming and pleasant. Although the hotel is older it is well maintained and upgrading of facilities is ongoing. A nice atmosphere in general with a very good location in the Golden Zone and close to the beach. The meals are reasonably good with several venue choices.
Hotel is located in a nice part of the beach and centrally located. The hotel is dated and in need of a complete room remodel. The beds suck!! hard as a rock!! Don't know why resorts do this? Staff was great and the food was good too. Price is reasonable for what you get. Still had a good time.
fun atmosphere, very close to walking to the shops & eating places.
This is a nice hotel with nice beach & good breakfast too. Sometimes too noisy in the dining room but acceptable because the view is stunning.
The wonderful staff decorated our room beautifully for our 48th wedding anniversary.
First let me say that Mazatlan has done some things to improve it's image since the arrest of Guzman. The beaches are cleaner. The ocean water is cleaner (not truly blue, but no longer oily brown.) While there is still a lot of spray paint graffiti on buildings, it has been lessened somewhat. Now, the Playa Mazatlan is not the best place for the Millennals or Gen-x types. This resort really caters to the Mexicans, and is a decent place for old people like myself. It reminds me of the better hotels you could find in Mexico City back in the 1960's. Clean, somewhat spartan, but a decent room size with flat-screen TV, coffee maker, small desk, and a lounge chair. Bathroom is decent size. Rooms have obviously been updated over the years with paint, new tile, new bathroom fixtures, etc. There is a purified water spigot in the bathroom, but I was reluctant to try it. Probably best to go all-inclusive. I didn't, and I thought the food at the main restaurant was on the expensive side. My digs against the resort were the tiny little ants that were all over the desk, and in the bathroom. Also, in my many years of travel in Mexico, and even living there for awhile, this was the first time I have ever encountered less than welcoming actions from some of the staff. I realize that there are some raw feelings about the recent presidential election in the States. But, the staff should put that aside for American tourists.
Centrally located in Southern Golden Zone. Breakfast buffets are great. Verry friendly and clean. Weekends get busy with family tour busses from Durango. Very pleasant experience.
They don't help you w/suitcase at check In or check out .. Rude and short staff while check in .. Pools are dirty And have no security you'll see ppl not from the hotel at the pool or even sitting at your terrace we had ground level and always found a mess with drinks and food from ppl outside the hotel . They give you a bracelet to wear to identify you but don't check at the entrance or just keep up with ppl .. Did not feel safe .. Breakfast was always the same dishes every day nothing different and not so good .. The first day they had us sat down in the second level and we had to be going up and down the stair to get our food it's buffet theme .. Staff are rude and not helpful not friendly they all seem really busy and stressed .. I would not stay here ever again
The hotel is more of a resort - Every day brings a new bus load (or two) of fresh tourists, so the amenities are crowded. Lots of children running around if that's not your thing. The pools are okay, but beach is prefect - I'd skip, the pool and head right to a palapa. Breakfast is an enormous buffet and also imcredibly crowded but the service is always good, so no complaints. The room itself is spacious and clean but the wifi is a nightmare: it is not password protected and incredibly slow. All-in-all, you get what you pay for, and this is worth the price.
The hotel room and facilities were great. My family and I had a good time. The service was good including the complementary breakfast. There were always taxis and/or 'pulmonias' that could take you anywhere in Mazatlan just at the end of the driveway.
Loved this hotel! It was in a perfect location and the ocean front view from our balcony was awesome!! Really enjoyed it and I will be coming back!
