Parador De Mazagon Huelva

Cliff top hotel set in beautiful well maintained gardens overlooking the sea. The huge beach is directly below and accessible by private stairs (a big climb back up, but seats helpfully provided half way up). The hotel is comfortable and homely in a traditional way although it could do with some updating and redecoration. Not a problem for us, but a big contrast to the ultra modern Parador of Cadiz we had just come from. Nice breakfast with a good choice of hot and cold food including eggs and bacon cooked to order. The first floor restaurant serves very good local food and there is a less formal tapas option downstairs and on the patio, weather permitting. Our ground floor room had some noise from the floor above. Although there is a local bus service, a car is really essential to get the best from the area, and there is free parking, although the entrance barrier did not work properly on exit. With a car, the hotel is conveniently placed for visiting the Donana National Park, and the Christopher Columbus trail.

Parador Hotels have a tendency of leaving you with mixed feelings. Parador de Mazagon has the same effect. The location is beautiful and very private. The room on the other hand was very basic and the only "superior feature" we could find in our "superior room" was the teakettle; the decor and the furniture was very "standard". As it happened to be a fairly windy weather we "enjoyed" the whining noise all through the night as the door to the balcony didn't seal properly. Next night we placed a table and some towels against the door which helped a bit - but of course things like this you shouldn't have to do in a hotel which rates itself with four stars. The staff at the reception don't pay much attention to the customers passing by - there's apparently always something much more interesting to see at the screens of the computers. Smile every now and then wouldn't hurt though. Staff at the restaurant was more polite and we especially were delighted to see the breakfast cook in the morning cooking the omelets - he had a really positive and friendly attitude! Our 10 points go to him.

Very beautiful location, the beach can be reched via a wooden staircase, very nice views from the pool to the sea, pine trees and palm trees. Our room also had a beautiful sea view. Very good selection of food in the half board menu.

Air Condition was not flexible ( heating by warm temperatures outside, so we had to open the windows and it was noisy ) and 1 day the service dureing breakfast was not well enough equipped ( 1 person for 50 guests )

This was our first time in the parador of mazagon and we will certainly come back. It's a piece of paradise, climbing down the amazing staircase from the parador's gardens to the endless sandy beach.... the best two days stay we had in a long time!

My husband and I chose this hotel for its location for a relaxing break, visiting various towns in the south of Spain. It is situated in a large national park with a stunning cliff top view. The beach is absolutely beautiful and stretches as far as the eye can see both ways. We visited in March so it was lovely and quiet and we were able to enjoy lovely walks. It would be good if the hotel could offer a beach pack, including a parasol etc. The hotel itself is quite rustic and the rooms were nice and large and bright, with a good size bathroom. The breakfasts were good, with a great selection of cold meats and cheeses, pastries, cereals and a cooked option if you wanted which was made to order. The lunch we had on the terrace was really good and the dinner was fantastic, the leg of lamb was delicious! Friendly and polite staff. We didn't use the spa facilities as you needed to wear a swimming hat. We also didn't use the outdoor pool as it was very cold. There is a raised area in the gardens, where you can get a spectacular view of the sunset. The parador is around a 10 minute drive from the town of Mazagon, so you would need a car or to hire a taxi to get there and back. There was entertainment one of evenings and activities that can be booked during the day. Overall we really enjoyed the two nights and we would recommend to others looking for a quiet, relaxing break. Sent from my iPad

totally unsuitable for guests with limited mobility. room not suitable for use by disabled guests. we will not be visiting again. other paradors do provide the right facilities for poeple like me.such a shame in a beautiful position.

The room was large and comfortable as the receptionist seemed to consider the room so that we had a lovely sea view. The grounds were meticulous and the outdoor swimming pool looked tempting even in the cold. The video was not capturing my car number but my partner could easily jump out and open the barrier manually.

A very good hotel but needs care and attention to terrace balustrades and some paving as some paths have trip hazards, there is a lift to the restaurant, if you can find it. Good parking. Access to the beach is via an external staircase and path down a steep cliff. No instructions given re Keys to gates etc. Swim caps have to be worn in swim pools. Restaurant a little expensive. Good for birdwatching and walking in the National Park nature reserves

One of the best Paradors for service and country location. The site looks West over the Atlantic Ocean from the top of sandstone cliffs sculpted by wind and water. A choice of outdoor and indoor pools, as well as lawns with open and sheltered seating, means you can always be comfortable. We went in February and some people were swimming in the outdoor pool! Very good location to visit Coto Donana bird reserve.
