Hi fellow travellers , This is in regard to theft in the hotel room during my parents stay in So Sofitel Mauritius Hotel. MY PARENTS HAD SUCH A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AT THIS HOTEL. PARADISE ON EARTH BECAME LIVINHG HELL ON EARTH FOR THEM PLEASE AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ANY COST... THIS HOTEL CLAIMS ITSELF TO BE 5* BUT THE STAFF AT THIS HOTEL ARE BUNCH OF CROOKS & ROBBERS . We deeply regret planning a holiday to Mauritius and staying at So Sofitel Hotel. Despite choosing one of the renowned property in Mauritius, our trip become a nightmare for us. We had booked 11 rooms for the stay from 14th Dec 2017 - 20th Dec 2017. On the last night of their stay, 19th Dec 2017, there was a theft in their room (Room no -134) while they were sleeping. Following items were stolen: I Phone 6, I Pad Mini , Camera Nikon D60 with very high zoom lens, Currency When they woke up in the morning at 6.45 am, they realized that their personal belongings were stolen. When they complained about the same to the hotel, instead of helping them immediately, security manager came after 1.5 hours to inspect the room. Security manager acted as mere spectator and didn’t take any conclusive step. After continually insisting, he called the local police, which came around 11am. They requested the hotel management to scrutinize the CCTV footage. Even after having 90 cameras on the property, not a single camera was able to capture the activities that unfolded on that night. This evidently indicates involvement of hotel staff in the entire theft. The Deputy Manager – Director, Christine Souillac only came when they were about to check out from the hotel. It was worst experience one could have had while staying at a prime property. Because of poor security management at the hotel their whole trip got ruined and the entire group of 22 people was in a state of shock and were scared after the incident. My mother , even after returning to the safety of our home, is terrified to sit alone. This kind of incident is highly unacceptable from a 5 star property. This trip has caused both of them mental and financial trauma. We have filed an FIR (Reference no – 1732/17) at Belombe police station Mauritius, but as they had to leave Mauritius we could not follow up the complaint made by us. Despite many follow-ups we haven’t have received any feedback from hotel
My husband and I spent the last two weeks of November at this beautiful hotel on an all inclusive package. We fell in love with the beautiful rooms, extremely comfy beds and fantastic grounds that provide the backdrop to this amazing property. The water running around the bar and restaurant provided a lovely setting. The staff at this hotel are amongst the best we have met and nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful at providing information about the island and about the Mauritian way of life. The food at both restaurants was really good and Nisha was always very helpful in the Flamboyant Restaurant and a real asset to the hotel. My husband was spoilt by the lovely lady who cooked his poached egg fresh every morning. We equally enjoyed the a la carte menus available at La Plage which were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The cocktails in the Takamaka bar were addictive and all the staff there were so friendly that it was a great place to relax after a strenuous day sunbathing and then to sit during the evening to enjoy the live music which was provided nightly. Yannick, The guest experience manager ran a very professional department and was a lovely man who was very interesting to talk to. If you required any help getting taxis or organising trips outside of the hotel there was always someone to offer assistance. Rav and Dinesh in guest relations were always on hand to help out with any enquiries you may have. The pool was very relaxing and it was sometimes nice to stay there for lunch. The beach is only a short distance away if you prefer and the loungers were very comfortable. We had one trip to the spa for a massage which was also very relaxing and we loved the setting. We had 4 days out around the island while we were there and Mauritius is a very beautiful place. The local people are all very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely consider returning to this hotel as we loved our stay . We came home feeling very relaxed and pampered but it would not suit a couple who want a lively night life as the location is a little remote. It was however perfect for us.
The experience was quite good. To begin with some positive points, awesome room with outside bathtub, very comfy bed. Swimming pool water awesome, i think it is heated. Great cocktails. However, lack variety of food at buffets and not to standard of 5*. Quite a poor service too except for some staffs. I was offered a cake on our anniversary which made the moment even special. And not to forget the same, the architecture is just breath taking. Overall, i would definitely come again.
Had Pedicure, Facial and Reflexology and they were all absolutely brilliant. Relaxing and also effective. In particular Vimla’s treatments were great. Jess the manager was also very lovely and made me feel very welcome and looked after. This is how Spa’s should be!!! Thanks for an awesome time... Pam x
It's the most amazing hotel in the world! The hotel is very beautiful, decorated by Kenzo, stretched by a spacious pearl beach and a turquoise lagoon, surrounded by lush greenery and quietly gurgling streams. Love the combination of white, beige and green. Each room has a unique design, shower inside, shower outside around the trees and a bath outside in a private garden where you can relax, enjoying a total privacy. Because the hotel has 92 rooms, it doesn't feel overcrowded, but feels like an oasis in a desert. The territory of the hotel is extremely beautiful, I love nature and you can enjoy amazing plants around. The restaurant La Plage is amazing too. But the most fantastic is the best customer service! It's even better than in Shangri-La. We travel often but have not seen such a great customer service anywhere else! All members of staff knew the name of our little girl and helped out whenever they could. They played with her, walked around and let us relax while we were dining. Thank you so much Yanek, Raj, Quince, Anne Lise, trainee guy from the restaurant. You made our stay exceptional! The hotel is very family oriented. Kids club was very helpful! Our little one enjoyed it so much! Thank you Prisca you're an amazing tutor! And a special thanks I would love to say to Nisha! You are wonderful! Thank you so much for going an extra mile and for getting the soup recipe for us! Shame we didn't have a chance to say bye to Prisca and Nisha before we left. We stayed 8 nights at the hotel and were sad to leave. It was wonderful due to customer service! Every single member of staff is the best! We can't wait to see you again!
My wife and I have just spent 10 nights at this wonderful hotel to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Over the years we have travelled extensively but for the sheer combination of environment, cuisine and five star customer service Sofitel Bel Ombre outranks all other. Every member of staff we encountered made us feel, through excellent training and an obvious genuine desire to please, very special. Whilst it is difficult, and possibly unfair, to single out any individuals we really must commend the following members of staff (sorry Christine!!): first and foremost Yannick the Customer Experience Manager whose friendly and welcoming attitude and professionalism could not have made us feel more welcome, Raj who is one of Yannick's team who was ever attentive, Kishan who introduced us to Ti Punch and Linley who served those with never ending care and good humour, chef Velossen who walked my wife through the buffet each day explaining which dishes were gluten free, Percy who cooked the perfect omelette, Nisha whose smiling greeting welcomed us to the restaurant each day, Anastasja and Praveen who looked after us so warmly and professionally in the restaurant and Videema who kept our room looking beautiful. Whilst we ate breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant we tended to walk a short distance along the beach to have lunch at La Plage where the food was refined and of a high quality. There we encountered Herman who after just one visit remembered our names, room number and home town and was a pleasure to be served by. Whilst it was very tempting to stay and be pampered in the hotel we made the effort twice during our 10 day stay to venture out - once to visit the local Sunday market which is highly recommended and on the other occasion we hired a car and driver for the day (just 75 euros) and visited some of the areas of interest we had read about: the tea plantation at Bois Cheri, the rum factory where we sampled 10 rums, the Temple and waterfalls . We stayed in a Lushury room on an all inclusive basis, which is highly recommended, and enjoyed bathing in our outside tub and showering under our outside shower. Showering indoors at home just doesn't feel the same. So, thank you all at So Sofitel you made our special celebration memorable - we will return.
We stayed during our honeymoon at the so sofitel mauritius. And it was just perfect. Usually we are backpackers and low budget traveller but for our honeymoon we decided to do something unusual for us. Let's say the once in a lifetime trip. And the so sofitel was the perfect choice for that. The room and the whole hotel area were clean and in a good condition. The facility and furniture is clear and not too fancy or extravagant. Due to the circuitousness of the hotel area it was calm and personal. The buffet was good. But the best thing were the staff working at the hotel. From the concierge to the cleaning staff and the restaurant staff....everybody was friendly and intent and always there for a nice talk. I have to point out 3 people where we were really happy to meet them: yannick the guest experience manager. Where you have the feeling that he is working almost 24 hours and is helping in every situation. And he's doing it with such a greatness and prevenience. And pascal our taxi driver aka tour guide. Who showed us things and places that aren't typical touristic and with whom we talked and laughed a lot. And last but not least madame wimla the physiotherapist. She has a lot of feeling while giving a massage and she is looking at you and your needs individually. SO it was a great stay.
Have just come back from 10 days at Sofitel, and one of the best holidays we’ve ever had. Certainly the most relaxing. The location and facilities are amazing. - Empty beaches stretch for several miles in either direction, protected by a reef that makes the sea safe and calm - Extensive grounds are beautifully tended, with bright coloured birds by day and fruit bats by night - Sitting in the plunge tubs in the incredible spa makes you feel like a Roman emperor - A large pool looking straight out over the sea - Great rooms, and there’s no better way than to start the day than an outdoor shower in the sun What made the holiday so great though wasn’t the just the facilities, but the service and people. We’ve stayed in 5 star hotels from Hawaii to Dubai, but never been treated so well and made to feel so special. There’s a whole behind-the-scenes team making everything run smoothly, but extra shouts out to those who made are stay so good: - Sailesh, Nisha, and Yannick in the restaurant - whether it was a friendly chat or a special treat, they always made sure you were happy - Christopher, Dylan, and Jeffrey who bring you whatever you need with a smile on their face, while you lounge by the pool or on the beach - Yannick the Customer Satisfaction Manager who seems to have a sixth sense for keeping the guests happy - Dovic who kindly showed my wife how to make chocolate fondant as a birthday treat - Chandanee our cleaner, who helped my wife learn French while cheerily tidying up after us
Been there for only one night(10th-11th dec) and i have a lot to say. We were welcomed by a very professional guy, he was very polite, and i was very impressed. The second thing that made me more impressed was that we didn't have to go to the reception to complete the paper work. We were lead directly to our room and a receptionist who was a guy came and completed all the formalities in our room itself. The guy was very helpful, he explained us all the details, n gave us all the informations about the hotel. Room was very beautiful, the green color, my fiance was very happy, as green is her favorite color. After that we went for a walk in the hotel. I was surprise, the hotel is very beautiful, the reception, the restaurants, the bar, the bar lounge, the pool, the love bed, the sun bed, everything was very beautiful. The touch of the green color everywhere was very nice. The water around the restaurant, very beautiful. I must say the hotel is well designed. We had our dinner and breakfast at flamboyant. The food was very delicious. The cocktail was wooaaw. We had 2 ice tea, 1 strawberry, and the other passion fruit, both was very nice. Staffs was very generous, friendly, polite. I was observing the service, and i saw a teamwork between the staffs, and that's very important to make a good service. The service was very good, amazing. We had our lunch at la plage. Again the food was delicious, rhe cocktail very nice. We had 2 peri peri chicken, and the first bite that i enteres into my mouth, i was like, OMG, SPEECHLESS, i had no words, it very very very delicious. The staffs again was very friendly, polite. Service was amazing. Overall my stay was very nice. Everything was perfect, the staffs, service, the welcomin, everything was bang on. And i believe that the staffs are the main asset of the hotel, they know how to make the guest feel comfortable, special. A big thank you to all the staffs who contributed to make our stay a perfect one. In the end we were very sad to leave the hotel but we had only 1 day. We'll definitly come back. I highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for an amazing service, relaxing holiday. If you want to feel special, pampered, comfortable, so that's the place to be. Believe me you'll regret nothing Fayaz&Rouksar
At last a resort without the usual annoying loud background music, instead just the relaxing sound of waves and birds. We were in a Lushy Deluxe room, spacious and with big windows, letting in lots of natural light and very quiet and having a private feel. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and varied and the staff helpful and friendly (for example always interrupting talk amongst themselves to greet a guest passing by, immediately removing plates, etc). There are a few places to get out of the constant wind on the beach, but if you just want to hang out on the beach, this might not be the right place. Having a rental or hired car is a must, because there is nothing close by, but for us that was a plus because of the quiet and relaxing setting. There are no other hotels right next to the property either, that could pssibly disrupt the relaxing atmosphere. Don't miss the snorkling around the corals right off the beach. There is an abundance of different fish, very beautiful. And almost no plastic and other trash when you take a walk on the beach and the grounds have many flowers and plants. We preferred the buffet restaurant because a three course dinner at the La Plage took over two hours. We only tried it once, though, so maybe it was just that night. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
