I enjoyed the morning breakfasts, and the hospitality was great. Room was clean, and I enjoyed my stay. Nearby grocery store was handy, and food sources too, and banks. I had a panic when my security key card didn't work during my mid-stay, but others say the same happened to them too, they need to work on that I think. But overall, I enjoyed my stay, and the room served its purpose, and was comfortable and clean. I would stay again if I had to in the future.
This hotel is not the standard of the Quality Inns. It needs a complete renovation. Our room was very damp and musty, and the A/C did not dry it out. There was a bicycle event in town and a college football game, so they obviously jacked the rate way up. The free breakfast is fine. We stayed here on Day 5 of our GAP/C&O bike ride. The location requires riding on a busy highway, so I do not recommend it to cyclists
We were a group of friends on a tour of the Civil War 1862 Maryland Campaign. We reserved 5 rooms. When we arrived light bulbs were burned out on one room. The power went off in the middle of the night in another. All of our keys ceased working every day at check out time (we were staying for three days). This seemed to be a mystery for the lone person working the front desk. We had to wait in line to get new keys every day. The rooms and bathrooms themselves were OK and clean, but I would not go back.
My room was good! The Inn has been upgraded since I was last there. Very comfortable beds. Very good hair dryer! It's a great location while attending shows at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival!
We called ahead and spoke to James who was very nice/helpful and friendly. Reserved room and arrived later in evening. Room was okay but we continually had trouble with the AC. It would not cool room down. Checked filters and they were very clean. Checked settings and they were on high and cool. Did not want to stay in room in afternoon because it became too hot. Room smelled like smoke and found cigarette tobacco and wrappers around bed even though it was a smoke free hotel. Took evidence to James to insure we would not be charged a smoking fee as we don't SMOKE. Was assured we would not be. Hotel seemed short staff as cleaning could have been better in rooms and all over. I like to check certificates in the elevators to see if they are up to date. Certificate of operation #EV0002534 said it was inspected on 8/27/2015 and valid for one year from date. I thought the beds were very uncomfortable....maybe it was just because the AC did not work.
We were working in the area and saw the reviews and thought we would give it a try. This hotel is NOT clean. My room smelled of straight up mold coming from the air conditioner. I asked to be moved which they did but the next room was slightly better but still had a mold smell. The bathroom also had a shower curtain that was moldy and smelled terrible. I didn't even take a shower because of the smell. I was glad they had 4 pillows on the bed because this is what I had to sleep on because the mattress was so worn out I could feel the springs. I will definitely NOT be staying here again and I would recommend you don't either.
I wasn't overly impressed by anything but the room is clean and the staff was nice. It's close to the quaint little Main Street I did not take advantage of the free breakfast. There is no pool at facility
This is a standard middle-grade motel that exploits the theatre festival to charge a ludicrous amount for a basic room. My room smelled horribly of damp and mold; I eventually realized that the carpet was soaked and sodden from the air conditioning unit. I changed rooms in the middle of the night. They ought not have been renting out this room in the first place - no one is paying attention.
Enjoyed our stay at the Quality Inn in Shepherdstown. Very handy to town and tourist areas. We found the wi-fi to be spotty at best, breakfast was good as was our room. I was disappointed however in the handicap accessibility of this hotel. Although the front door will stay open if you push it back far enough, it is not possible to manage this if you are in a wheelchair. A handicap operator should be installed.
We visit Shepherdstown at least a couple of times a year, as we have a son who attends school there. We have always stayed at this inn, and have never had a bad experience. The rooms are always clean, and the staff have always been wonderful and helpful. There is a complimentary breakfast offered each morning, and they have expanded the dining area, which is a plus. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago, and the staff was very helpful (as always)l. This is a pet-friendly hotel, which is sometimes hard to find. This is our "go-to" hotel in Shepherdstown.
