Riad Karim3.0 out of 5.0

Hidden in the depth of Kasbah, Riad Karim is a real gem. Only a few rooms, everything works fine (Hot Water and WiFi). But my personal highlight is the very cosy common area, including the rooftop terrasse. The staff (Samra) is super friendly and helpful with any requests (laundry service, support in making bookings, restaurant tips, etc.)
We stayed here for two nights in January and we had a good time! The owner of the riad was very helpful (in finding a good hammam, arranging - and rearranging - a taxi to the airport) and was reachable whenever necessary. The rooms were very tidy and breakfast was good! Hot water was available although sometimes it required some patience.
Hi, we travel to Marrakech for first time. We book in Riad Karim, a beautiful place. Every room has private bathroom, you can breakfast whenever you want. The beds are 2 beds together In the riad the owner doesnt have everything, so many times he has to go out and buy toilet paper, juice, milk...for daily. In Marrakech the best part is the Sahara expedition. Only you have to take care about the tips, because everybody deserve onefor take a tour with you( even if you wont) and they dont have prices, I recommend everybody ask first and then sale the price up to 70%, you can even negociate the price of the taxi!! They pay 50DH to go to the airport, but tourist normally pay 100DH(10€), you can go for 60~80DH Chaotic traffic, nicely people, and I recommend to eat on restaurants. A couple expend, for lunch, 100DH and that is very expensive!!
My wife and I spent a lovely day here enjoying a private Moroccan cooking class, as recommended by Sahara Tours. My apologies to the staff for being so bad with names. The lady chef was kind and knowledgeable. The gentleman manager was friendly and ably translated for the chef. After lunch, we took his advice to visit the local craft store. The souks off the main square are fun. For an hour maybe. But do yourself a favour and visit the Kasbah area. It was a shame that we didn't have the time left in our vacation to let him put his tour guide hat on and show us around Morocco. Next time... I would look forward to returning to Marrakesh to stay at Riad Karim.
We had an excellent stay at the Riad. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The Riad itself was modest, good rooms with bathrooms and a nice roofterasse. Nice breakfast, and they also served good dinner for us one night. If we go back to Marrakech, we certainly would stay there again. And I will recommend it to my friends.
Met some fantastic people staying in this riad, the staff especially. I'd recommend anyone visiting marrakech to stay here, it feels more like staying at a friend's place than a guest house. Beautifully decorated.
My Wife and I arrived at the door of The Riad Karim by accident. We were meeting our friends and somehow we messed up and wrote down the wrong Riad name. We we arrived at Riad Karim a lovely woman answered the door and let us in. Gave us some orange juice and mint tea. Hamza the Man of the house arrived to inform us that the reservation was not in their system. We were shocked and we were waiting to meet our friends who were arriving at the airport. Hamza made calls to the airport and offered to pick our friends up. He found us a place to stay at this lovely French couples Riad since his Riad was already booked. He also found out where our friends were staying and got us dropped off at the correct place the next day. Riad Karim is an excellent choice for any stay in Marrakech.
We had an amazing long weekend in Riad Karim, it was our first time in Marrakech (coming from NY), the service was great (even if we arrived quite late), the room was clean and the location is amazing, very close to Jammaa el fna place, so you really feel like you live with the locals, we definitly recommend this place!
My husband and i stayed there one and a half yr ago, therefore we decided to come back with other family members for a few days. the responsible ones we knew don't work there anymore. There has been a change of management, or a lack which was quite disapointing. Hamza (the new responsible one) and Samra tried to make our stay as pleasant as they could. The quality/comfort of this Riad has dropped considerably. The bathroom was not clean, beds hard and uncomfortable, broken lights, damp.... Of course, that's Morocco but Riad Karim has seen better days. We didnt get fresh baked crepes, fresh orange juice or nice fresh mint tea as we were used to so we prefered to skip breakfast on following days. The best asset is the location, as soon as you know your way around this maze it's easy to visit all the main attractions within 15 mins walk. If you want a comfortable bed and clean bathroom there are surely others for the same price.
We booked our stay for 3 days via Expedia. We took the train from Fes to Marakkech last week and arrived around 10 PM. Our taxi driver was very friendly and he walked us to the door. Upon arrival no one was there. We rang the bell and we knocked and no one came to the door. Our taxi driver didn't speak english but he used his phone to call the number we had provided and no one picked up. Luckily for us the man who lives across the street opened the door 10 minutes later and when he called Humza ( the owner) picked up. Humza said he would come in 2 minutes which ended up being over an hour. We sat outside for half an hour before another couple who was staying there came and opened the door for us. A younger guy who lived across the Riad came to check on us and went and got us some Coke to drink while we waited for another half an hour. Humza explained that he left someone he trusted to stay at the riad but he left. That may be the case but for us that was very inconvenient. We both had tours booked the next day early in the morning so we couldn't go stay anywhere else, not to mention we had already paid for 3 nights in full. When we got to our room one of the beds was broken in the middle. I slept on that one that night and the next night my friend went on an overnight desert tour and I ended up sleeping on the other bed. There was no hot water when I tried to shower. I told Humza the next day and he turned the hot water on which lasted for a total of 5 minutes if that. While I was on my tour my guide took me to two other Riads which were so much nicer and cost the same as Riad Karim which was in an equally good location. The location of this Riad is convenient and maybe the owners friend really did drop the ball but overall not a good experience for us. The room smelled like wet carpet as well and the smell got worse at night. We kept our suitcases closed while we stayed there. With so many other options, I would say pick something else that guarantees 24 hour service.
