Bab hotel is situated on a back street just 3 minutes walk from the main road which leads to central Marrakech. On entering the hotel there is a doorman who help you with your bags. As you walk in the decor is nice, white and modern. I booked this hotel as they advertised that there is a SPA and treatments. I asked if the spa was available and they said it is closed and has been closed for months. I asked why would they advertise that there is a Spa and treatments if it is not available and the woman on reception said that I did not book the Spa..I booked Deluxe Room with Half board. I said I emailed the hotel 'twice' at least 1 week before departure and asked if the Spa was available but they did NOT respond at all. The woman seemed agitated at my questions so I said that I was not happy and that I would make a complaint to my travel agent. I then asked about excursions and if they have a holiday Rep..she went on the phone and spoke to someone then try to quote me £80 for 1 trip!!! Horendous!!! I told her NO WAY thank you. Then she tried to reduce it to £60..I told her the trips I was interested in were around £19 online so I would just book online instead. Luckily I had already booked 2 excursions from London in advance in case of any problems..had I not done this, I probably would have been ripped off!!! The room was nice, clean modern..didnt like the fact that the toilet was in another room nowhere near the bathroom and very small and claustrophobic. The first night we saw a Cockroach in the room right by the bed! I called reception instantly to sort it out and get us out of the room. The reception sent a man who spoke not ONE word on English..instead I had to point and shout to try and explain the problem given hand gestures of a creature. He didnt understand what I was saying for at least 3 minutes whilst by this time the cockroach was not in sight. The man then picked up my flip flops and tried to hit the cockroach with them. I said NO put it down..he did not understand what I was saying. I told him to call reception and told my friend to go down to reception and tell the woman to come up to explain to the man what has happened. He then saw the cockroach under my other flip flop then stepped on it and killed it. When the woman came up..the man was laughing as if to say is this what these girls are screaming about. They moved us rooms instantly and upgraded to a Junior Suite which I was happy with but still shaken up by the cockroach as I have a phobia to ANY creepy crawlies and have NEVER stayed anywhere in the WORLD where there was a cockroach in my room! After this I could not sleep for hours and I didnt feel comfortable anymore at the hotel. I kept closing up my case, not leaving anything out etc. The food at the hotel was reasonable. Half board did NOT include any drinks no soft drinks or anything. This is not usual for Half Board. They gave us Breakfast which was Cold and very limited. For Dinner the choice was a start and main or it was a main or a desert. The staff were very nice, friendly, warm and welcoming and there was live entertainment from a Moroccon Singer / guitarist. Drinks were expensive, I expected for them to be alot cheaper. I have only stayed at 5* hotels and have never paid as much for my drinks. On departure I went to clear my drinks bill which was 496 Dirham and was 10 dirhams short (80p) the woman was making a problem out of it. I gave her 486 Dirham and also 80p English money to make up for the shortfall but she was complaining. I said to her considering there was a cockroach in my room I shouldnt even be paying for any drinks. She said well we have upgraded you to a better room so that ends that. I said ok. Well I only have English equivalent. She said it would have to come out of her pocket if I cannot pay the amount in Dirham. Luckily I found an extra 100dirham in my room, so I went back down to reception asked for my money back and gave her 500Dirhams so she gave me my change of 4dirhams. I would not stay here again. NO Spa and Cockroach which ruined my holiday. I needed a short break and I cudnt even sleep properly. Not happy at all!
We stayed at Bab in December 2016 and it was an overall great experience. The rooms are cosy and clean, the decor is quirky, reasonable breakfast and the location is unbeatable. It is one of the cheaper hotels in Marrakesh in Gueliz however doesn't feel like it when you're there! Highly recommended.
In every hotel you can find faults and like everywhere there are some at the BAB hotel. My stay was fantastic, Rania and Yacine made it even better, attentive to all our needs organising all of our visits in and around Marrakech. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, excellent wifi and in general an excellent service in the restaurant and the sky bar, although it was very hot but nevertheless a great atmosphere. As I come often to Marrakech this will be our place to stay. It has a great advantage as you can walk everywhere within 20 minutes. The only thing missing was the Spa but i was told that it will reopen end of September. A spécial thank you to Nadia in the Sky Bar who is always smiling and attentive.
After a very hectic flight we finally made it to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 5am early hours and the staff member on the desk by the name yaseen checked us in. He was very friendly even thou it was so early in the morning and kept himself very professional. Overall the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The manager Sana was with us at all times supporting us before we even reached the hotel via email and once we arrived she was extremely helpful and gave us a lot of support to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast staff always welcomed us with a warm smile only remember the name of one of them khadija. The only issue we experienced was the wifi in our room. We did notify the receptionist staff and Sana. They offered to have a room change for us immediately to a lower floor. The security doormen were amazing, always handled our baby buggy down the steps and always had a smile to welcome us by opening the doors no matter how many times you enter or exit the hotel. I would highly recommended anyone who wish to travel to Morocco marrekech to stay at BAB hotel as it's very convenient to the local shppping centres, markets and plenty of restaurants local along with the wonderful staff. Myself wife and baby really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return back.
I've visited here a number of times and the Bab is a charming hotel with lovely staff. My one and only problem is the internet!!! On each floor rooms 1 to 5 are close enough to the router to use the internet. Beyond that it's hopeless. BAB why on earth have you not placed additional routers further down the corridors? Quite frankly it's extremely poor that you have failed to fix this over the years. It's not expensive to do and reduces a 5* review to a 3. Please fix before my next visit otherwise it will be 2*!
We just came back from Bab hotel and it was great. Nice and friendly staff,very clean hotel and very good breakfast. Rooftop bar was great for evening relaxing and drinking cocktails ;) Only bad thing is wifi. We couldnt use wifi in our room because signal was very bad,but it worked fine in a restauran and sky bar.
A lovely boutique feeling with the little details to differentiate from the usual chains. We loved the stylish decoration, convenient location, trendy rooftop and fantastic breakfast buffet with made on the spot both traditional and European style food. Thanks!
The hotel is located in quite a central area, so very short walk to the shopping mall and area with shops such as ZARA, MANGO, H&M and other nice shops. Also walking distance to most attractions in Marrakech which was a bonus! A lot of lovely authentic Moroccan restaurants closeby. The food (dinner) at the hotel was delicious, I had the best steak I've ever had there. The cocktails and layout of the bar area on the 18th floor is also amazing. The bathrooms in the hotel (we stayed in deluxe room) was absolutely gorgeous, I'm very into interiors and the bathrooms hit the spot. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. Now for the downsides; wifi was HORRIFIC. Terrible connection to more often no connection at all. We has to step into the balcony and attach our wifi to a different buildings in order to connect. It was terrible, slow and a nightmare. The bedrooms themselves were quite basic.... In addition, service can often be very very slow. Example; I had a horrible stomach ache and usually ginger helps me, I called and requested this. It took bab hotel a whole hour before they got back to me to say they didn't even have it. There are other examples also, but I won't go into them. Otherwise it was a good hotel, great locality and great food. Would I stay there again? probably not, but simply because I would want to try other hotels. I would recommend them though.
We have stayed at the hotel with 5 friends. It was amazing. The rooms are super clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast is very good and sufficient. The staff was super friendly and certainly Yassine at the reception.
Overall this hotel is nice,clean and very well located. The best bit is the food and the restaurant service - this is amazing led by manager Mohammed - new and very helpful. All the restaurant staff were amazing and the breakfast was to die for. I ate lunch here also on the roof terrace and quality was really great. The only bad bit about my stay was the service I received from one of the Male receptionists who was not very helpful. I checked in at 8pm and my room should have had a nespresso coffee maker in it - this was missing and he said he would sort it out but did not, only when at 5pm the following day a different female receptionist was working did she sort it out immediately. The pool that says its an indoor is actually an outdoor pool with a canopy - again this was frustrating as it did say it was indoor. I think this hotel is good however after staying here I think it is a little bit on the expensive side and there are better cheaper hotels out there.
