Amazing, breathtaking, peaceful are a few words to describe the grounds at Landolls castle! Not to mention the impeccable staff! My fiance Jorge&I were blessed to share a priceless moment of our life.Thank you to all who served us this past weekend!
Paid 300.00 for a room with soaking tub for two and there was no hot water. Called front desk. They checked another room and our room and confirmed there was no hot water. At check out the next day we were not offered a discount or a discount towards next stay. We were told the problem was a empty tank. The fountains do not work in the pool house as advertised. The hot tub does not have working jets. We called and were told it is not a traditional hot tub. Also had to call for towels. The restaurant charged us regular prices during happy hour. We we asked they apologized, but stated they had already "run" our card. Super friendly staff, but not worth 300.00. All facilities are open to public so I recommend visiting to see, but not staying because you should be able to expect hot water as a minimal expectation.
We took time to stop by and look at this amazing venue! We were very impressed with the facility. Climbed up to the tower to see the the entire grounds. We'll be back to stay overnight sometime soon. Huge and gorgeous facility.
Stayed 1 Saturday night in the Stables guest room for $300. No internet but very nice new room. On Sunday morning- no water after 9 am. Not about to shower, etc. checkout was 11am. When checking out the guest services representative said they were investigating a broken pipe affecting the entire facility. What was most striking was there wasn’t even an apology offered for the inconvenience! Doubt I’d return again. Stayed the night before at Mohican Lodge— will return there
We were looking forward to a romantic getaway and were quite disappointed. We stayed in the private MacBeth cottage. Outside: The front porch was covered with piles of leaves so we swept it off. There were really nice lights strung on the jacuzzi deck that did not work. My hubby is a mechanic and fixed all of them since there was no other outside lighting. There was an ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts and several melted candles on the deck. This too was covered with leaves before we cleaned it off. The 2 person hot tub was nice and we did enjoy it every night. Kitchen: Basic supplies with limited dinnerware. No paper towels or liner in the can. The coffee pot was a 4 cup that took approximately 30 minutes to brew. We woke up to a lot of noise one night and found a mouse inside our cookie package on the kitchen table. Living room- basic couch and TV. Fake plants on mantle that were covered in dust so thick it reminds me of the Adams Family. Bedroom: oh my gosh! That full size bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in! The mattress was like something we bought at Outlet store 35 years ago. Big worn out divet that you will roll into if your partner moves. We slept on the sofa the 2nd night and that wasn’t any better. After 3 nights, we’re so exhausted from no sleep! For the price we paid, the bedding and mattress should have been updated. The front desk did offer 10% off of our breakfast if we were going to stay. A light switch by the back door did not turn anything on and was probably for the hanging wires outside. Bathroom: no toilet tissue. Called for toilet tissue and paper towels. I noticed a fake eyelash on the ground and upon inspection, the sink was not cleaned. I called front desk again and they did come down and clean the restroom. Towels were replaced every day so no other issues. I hope this helps future or potential guests.
Exterior of main building only thing good about this hotel. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and there were very few guests. Our room was in one of the annex buildings. The room had been converted from a living room or some other use to a suite. As an example of its other use, the little dining area had a large chandelier in it, but the light switch to the light was hidden behind the bed’s headboard. There was no housekeeping service. After returning from a busy day in the Amish country we found the room had not been cleaned. We were told by staff that they only provided cleaning if you stayed three nights. We were staying two nights and found ourselves with few towels, no coffee and a half roll of toilet tissue. The woman at the front desk stated she didn’t know how to clean rooms, but she did get us some supplies. The hotel was located in a pretty wooded area and apparently must be used as an events destination, but other than an indoor pool there was nothing to do there. The rooms were way overpriced considering the location and lack of amenities and service.
We stayed in the beautiful newly opened Stables rooms. They had us switch room for our 2nd night there where in reality we could have stayed in our room and they could have placed the other guest in a different room since they weren't there yet and the rooms were identical. The lobby staff needs to dress and act more professionally. The ghost tour was way over priced and would have been better if the guide would have been a better story teller. The food was amazing at the restaurant; the service was fairly good, but it could be better. It's not quite up to par with the prices. For the price of the hotel free wifi should be provided as well. But, because the room was so spacious, clean and beautiful and the restaurant had really good food (except for the sunday buffet which was ok) we would come back to celebrate another anniversary.
This is a cool location and unique setting...for an event. But we came for a getaway and Ghost Walk. Pros: friendly staff, quiet location, nice grounds. Cons: the bed in Suite 1 squeaked so much you couldn’t sleep, the frig leaked, fireplace was broken, worn linens, expensive/boring/blah food. For a week night in the middle of October this hotel is WAY overpriced.
This is a unique place to stay. The grounds are beautiful and so is the castle. The room was clean and tidy. However, we had some minor issues. In general I would have ignored those, but this was not up to the mark when it comes to the price we paid.- 1. We were excited for the breakfast. But on saturday morning, we saw a buffet option which was at par with any commerical hotel that offers the breakfast at no cost. And here it was for $12. They told that the good breakfast is offered only on Sundays. 2. The TV was very spotty. When we called the reception, they came over and told that the cables were bad!! 3. There was a wedding party and the music was loud until 11PM. This was not consistent with the 10PM quiet time policy. Overall, I didnt find any reason that would make me return to this place again.
Friends and I recently made a trip to Landoll's Mohican Castle restaurant. We arrived at 11:00 AM thinking we were there in time for breakfast since web site states breakfast served until 11:30. We were handed lunch menus and told to sit anywhere. For 10 minutes we sat - totally ignored by 3 servers. We finally got the attention of one server who brought us breakfast menus and said our waitress would be with us. We all ordered the same breakfast with coffee and each ordered a Bloody Mary. The menu gave a beautiful description of their Bloody Mary's. Coffee and breakfast arrived; the Bloody Mary's arrived with only a stick of celery when we were almost finished eating. Coffee and water were never replenished. We had to wait for over 15 minutes for the bill. The "castle" grounds are on a steep hillside and not at all handicap assessable.
