Have stayed here for 18 months on business. As a female sole traveller I have been made so welcome by all the staff here. The food in the hotel is outstanding with lots of choice. Lots of choice for breakfast and always very quick to be seated which is really important when you're rushing to work. As I've been there a while they've gone out of the way to accommodate things that aren't on the menu. The grounds are beautiful and it doesn't feel like you are in Manchester. On my last night they gave me a lovely send off. In 15 years of travelling I've not had such touching goodbye. Thank you to Emma, Magda, Charlotte, Elona, Louise, Alison and everyone else on the front desk, the grill restaurant and room service. You're a credit to the Marriott. Will miss you all.
This hotel has beautiful grounds and the common areas great as one would expect in this star of establishment. I stayed there a few times about 15 years ago, but it seems to have deteriorated since then. The bedroom was slightly disappointing. There was no fridge or minibar, however there was a cupboard missing a handle which could have housed the fridge. The amenities were on the small side and there were no bath robes. The issue for me was the restaurant. We only ate there for breakfast preferring the gastro-pub just outside the hotel. It has a real problem with the cleanliness of the crockery. On day one I has a dirty knife and two dirty plates. Day two was a dirty bowl and another two dirty plates. The was reported to staff and the reception upon checking out. If this had been in a restaurant rather than hotel I am not sure it would survive the reviews of such issues.
We stayed here when attending a wedding nearby. Its nice and clean. Noone assisted with our luggage and i was disappointed the male concierge watched us struggle. The bedrooms weren't lit very brightly but were a good size with a nice big bed. It was warm night and the room was quite warm. Set in well manicured surroundings its situated close to the M60 and has a golf course
I stayed here for one night during a business trip. The Hotel as such was ok. Nothing special but certainly correct and the staff friendly. What I certainly do not recommend is to have a quick dinner at the bar. When being asked if it would be possible to get some food, the bar tender did not know and had to ask a colleague who gave me the menue. I ordered a Caesar Salad with extra chicken (for an additional 4 GBP). In the end I received 6 leaves of lettuce (yes, six!) with some tasteless sauce plus four small pieces of grilled chicken breast that were already cold. Unexperienced Service - Bad food - Overpriced.
We have stayed and played here before, and had decided to return as it was so good. Check in is a breeze and the rooms are spacious and clean, we were all sharing a room however each room had two Kingsize beds in each which are lovely and comfortable. The Golf course is excellent, the food is also very good. The staff and service is very good, everyone is very polite. The breakfast if included in your stay is worth the trip alone, lots to choose from and all very nice. I'll definitely book here again.
Stayed at the marriot the night before a family wedding. Check-in was swift&no issues. Only issue was that they wouldn't let me use debit card for room only a credit card, well not everyone has a credit card or choose to use credit!!!! Did expect quite alot from the marriot due to its reputation, was a little under whelmed. Room was clean, we arrived on a very humid day, ice machine not working, no water in welcome pack(which was only stocked for 2 people&We were a party of 4!!, mini bar was locked so couldn't even choose to use that facility. Shower wasn't working properly water trickled from the shower head when we eventually worked out how to use it. Rooms very hot (which couldn't be helped due to weather)no air con or fan&Windows only opened ajar!!! Beds VERY soft which is obviously a matter of preference, but felt like we were rolling to one side. Overall not a very enjoyable stay.
Stayed here on way home from family to break up out journey . Lovely room , good breakfast , pool looked lovely also . Phoned in advance to check if car park was safe for our bikes on the bike rack , was told it was so with 3 locks attached felt it was safe. In the morning returned to car to find one lock cut and 4 straps removed from rack . D shaped lock had obviously proved un-cutable. A bit of a shock for us but luckily bikes undamaged . Would probably never stay at a hotel again with bikes on rack. Lovely hotel all the same , may return
When I stayed at this hotel I was really impressed with everything about the hotel. The staff were superb the hotel was very nice and clean and tasteful. And the food in the restaurant was really good so would love to stay again.
We had quite a big room with a big bed and nice sized ensuite bedroom. The bedroom shared a small lobby area with one other bedroom that went onto an outdoor path at the front of the hotel, so it was very quiet. The wedding reception itself was in a grand sized hall with a nice sized dance floor and another hall again was set aside just for the hog roast sandwiches and chips part way through the night. There is a big courtyard with plenty of outdoor seats to enjoy and a nicely kept bar with plenty of choices and friendly, fast service off to one side. The only thing we could have done with is some warning that it was to close at midnight, still some brighter sparks in the group had bought wine in advance to share. We would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a wedding venue.
We visited today for a late lunch and found that there were no shaded tables available in the court yard, we had a very hot baby that needed to stay in the shade and Eric the gardener came to our rescue! As we stood deciding what to do he very quickly offered to move furniture for us so we could sit by the wall, enjoy our lunch and feed the baby in the shade. He was a very lovey and helpful man and we would like to thank him for taking care of us without being prompted.
