Chipped sinks and cracked toilet in the room; sharp metal flush in the toilet downstairs cutting my wife’s hand. Polite, but deeply disinterested staff (no apology over my wife’s hand but medical assistance offered). A very indifferent welcome on arrival. Tried to say that we hadn’t paid for breakfast even though we had. On the other hand, spotlessly clean bedroom but dingy, dark and small. Air conditioning working which was good. Absolutely none of the niceties we have experienced at 5* hotels in Britain and around the world, either in equipment, staff attitude, small welcoming gestures in the room or in any other way. We just returned from this hotel from our honeymoon. We spent 2 nights here which i booked witj booking.com where the room chosen was a deluxe king. I mailed the hotel in advance to let them know it was our honeymoon with the hope of being offered one of their nicer deluxe king rooms. On arrival the reception area is very beautiful but I'm afraid that's where the 5* begins and ends. We were given our room keys for the 7th floor but when we got to the room, it was no bigger than a standard sized room in a 3* hotel. A narrow walkway led from the door to a very small bedroom and open plan sink area which was really weird as you had to wash up in the same space as you slept. A pokey wardrobe with only 1 shelf met us so we had to leave all of our clothes in our luggage bags.. the bathroom or wet room was tiny and the floor flooded as soon as the shower was turned on. No feeling of luxury here. I mentioned the room to reception to see if we had been given a small room by mistake but they insisted that was a deluxe king room. The next day our room wasn't cleaned until after 4pm which we thought very odd and lacking in 5 * treatment. We tried the sienna spa while we were there and this too was extremely disappointing. The hotel provide robes in the room but no slippers so I ended up going barefoot through the hotel. The water was very cold in the pool, so uncomfortable you couldn't enjoy and the changing areas are extremely small and narrow, not like any other 5* premises we'd been to before. Breakfast buffet is mediocre, again, nothing more than you would see at a 3* hotel. Overall we were disappointed we chose this hotel for our honeymoon. We paid extra for the deluxe room which was no bigger than a standard hotel bedroom and we didn't get the feeling of luxury we were after. Unfortunately you only get 1 honeymoon and ours was definitely not the 5* experience we had hoped & paid for.
Thoroughly enjoyed our night here. Great location for our night out. Hotel room was lovely- spacious clean and comfortable. All staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We will definitely be back to stay
I had the opportunity to stay over the 2017 holiday from 12/29 through the New Year. The staff, the location, the restaurants will not disappoint - the courtesy, the hotel amenities and easy access to all things Manchester are in the palm of your hand. Definitely a hotel more than worth the stay. Note: The Sienna Spa is TOP NOTCH...
A good hotel with great staff in a very good location. My wife and I have stayed on a number of occasions and we have always enjoyed our stays. The hotel is safe and secure and while it might be a little pricey its benefits by far outweigh the pricing any monies spent.
Stayed on the 2nd of January for my boyfriends birthday, booked the hotel on my card and when I arrived at reception I got told I had to pay again (I didn’t have my card which I originally booked the hotel with so had to pay cash) which was fine. I then got told I had to pay a further £50 cash as a deposit for the hotel room, which was also fine, but then the man at the reception had to ring through to room service and tell them to empty the minibar as I didn’t have my band card.. which I didn’t think was necessary as I’d just paid another £50 for my room! I asked the man if I went home to get my card as I live local can I have my £50 back and minibar restocked and he said yes. Made said journey back home and back to the hotel to then be told by a different colleague I cannot have my £50 back and cannot have the minibar restocked ?! So that wasn’t great and left me quite annoyed that I couldn’t have a minibar in my room even though I’d paid £50 deposit had the bank card I originally paid on ! But never mind. Hotel room was absolutely lovely ice facilities at the end of the corridors. Fantastic location into Manchester centre plenty of food places and bars around. Spa facilities were wonderful I do have to comment on Stacey from the spa her service was incredible and she was extremely friendly with us throughout our time in the spa. I would 100% go back but would just take my bank card next time!!
Polite staff. Room felt a little chlosteraphobic. Not allowed to place own drinks in fridge due to sensors due to sensord which means that you get charged onto your bill even if you removed a bottle of the hotel beverages. Very sly move.
On arrival we were greeted at reception, after given our room keys we headed to our room. I was abit confused to why the elevator wasn’t working, then I realised I needed my key for it to activate, probably something reception should inform their guests especially as was carrying two large bags and had my suitcase too move. The room was very lovely, everything one should need. Breakfast in the morning, there was an array of continental food to suit. After breakfast staff had arranged for my car to be ready for my departure, we had help with our bags to car. Overall great service, very helpful staff, I may just bring my own pillow next time!
I have been to this hotel before and it was a joy to stay at , in the heart off Manchester and good for shopping and great restaurants. It’s my partners 40th birthday so I book us into the hotel at the start off February so to make sure it went throw as it was done on line I called the hotel ( maybe call centre) and got a shock in how rude the person was in how he answered the phone in a dull and lazy manner. The line was a bit faded and not the best but I did not think he would say ‘you need a better phone ‘ then he ended the call I think he needs to learn how to talk to people and I have a iPhone X , I did tell the hotel but he don’t care
I stay here every time we come to Manchester and can never fault it. The staff are friendly, rooms are great and most importantly clean. It’s also a great location for excellent restaurants in walking distance. Maybe more snack options in the mini bar, but otherwise excellent. See you soon!
