Stayed here for a couple of nights end of Decmber: Double room in extension to main hotel.we also had a family room.the hotel is not buggy friendly there were lots of steps up and down not only to the Bedroom but also the function room: needed to help with lifting up and down all the time. On arrival we ate in the hotel restaurant, it took ages to come and they forgot about the child’s potion so we had all finished by the time the child’s meal arrived. I had a steak burger, was asked how I wanted it cooked, not sure why as it clearly not seen steak was more burger than steak. Wen to the pub at nite had the 3 dishes as this was the only thing available, does not really cater if your attending function for more than 1 night. We went to the ABBA nite, they were so bad they were good and gave us a laugh. Went in the Spa,the thermal suite was a nice touch especially when it was snowing and you could be outside. On the day of the Wedding it has snowed so the temperature was very low,the rooms were drafty and very cold could not get warm all day,had to keep my jacket on., the bacon and sausage butties that were part of the evening buffet were cold by the time you got to your seat lovely setting but attention to detail let it down

My Daughter took me for a lovely break and what a lovely time we had, From checking in with a very helpful young man named Jorden,who was so helpful to checking out. The room was lovely and clean and we loved the swimming pool , my daughter swam and I relaxed in the fantastic jacuzzi. The evening meal was lovely,again with very attentive staff and the breakfast in the morning was lovely with a big selection and the lovely Isabelle who made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be returning. We paid extra for the late check out and it was well worth it as we had time to use the leisure facilities again. Lovely time.

We didn't satay at the hotel but our family went to The Last Drop Pub for a 3 course Christmas lunch. The food was lovely and hot with a good choice of nicely done meats, salmon or pasta. The staff were very good, very helpful and cheerful. Hopefully we will be back next year!!

Visited for Christmas Day Dinner which was actually a carvery with the choice of roast beef, turkey with stuffing, gammon or salmon fillets, all with the trimmings. We were in the Pennine Suite which was for families. It was a 3 course meal. Apart from the gammon, which was very salty, the meal was a total success. The food was done brilliantly, even the veg, where in some places I'm sure they only pour boiling water over them as that's why they can be so hard. Not here, they were well cooked, not too hard and not too soft/soggy. For the price of £60 per head, I did think it was pretty expensive, but luckily, we had our meal bought as part of a present from all the children and grandchildren. There was a bloke doing the rounds of entertaining the kids with balloons and other things and also a Father Christmas giving out presents for each of the kids. The staff were very efficient for the amount of people in attendance. They had everything under control, even for my hubby who is on dialysis and needed a room to do a change (we did contact the hotel in advance about this, and they had it arranged). Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would certainly do this again at the hotel. Well done The Last Drop, keep up the good work and hope you have a great 2018

Attended a wedding and booked for the night before, on arrival no room! Room eventually allocated! Visited spa..abused by spa member! Spa very untidy and unclean! Left spa and went to bar to order food! No bar food! Asked for table! Went back to room and asked for room room service that evening! Room service granted eventually! No heating or hot water in room! Boiled kettles of water to bath children! Kettle had to be held whilst boiling! Eventually moved rooms at 11:30pm! Refused access to restaurant due to being accused of wearing nightwear?? I was actually wearing a lounge suit! Gained access to breakfast after much embarrassment! Attended wedding which was lovely but the venue was uncomfortably cold! Left wedding and fell on return to car due to unsalted concrete in-5c conditions...has witnessed a staff member fall in car park several moments prior! I would absolutely never return and would not advice anyone else if you wish to relax, stay safe, keep warm, eat or bathe!

Our stay on dec 30th 2017... not exactly very relaxing. We checked in at 215pm. 2 rooms, both not ready. Very unprofessional checkin, no map of hotel, didn't take our bags, no apology. Just said they were busy. Decide to have a coffee and bite to eat while we wait. 25 mins for a cappuccino, all tables and carpets dirty. Food ordered was the seafood cocktail. Served in a soup bowl, no cutlery, no bread and butter as per menu, no smoked salmon.... brutal. Served by a very young inexperienced waiter that we had to get to go back and forth the the kitchen about 5 times.....this was our first hour. Rooms modern new and clean. Quite good. Spa pool warm. Busy busy busy... change room to full, no lockers & dirty. Adult spa pool over looks carpark... kinda awkward. Had full body couples massage for 1 hour. Very disorganized because of some mix up. No couples massage rooms left. 1 hour massage was 40 mins due to their mixup. I gave up any hope for this being relaxing at this point. Dinner was a disaster with the chef forgetting to make dinner with all the ingredients as per their menu. Wine took 1/2 hour to tell us they are all out of ouf bottle of choice. Not going to go on and on, but this place has potential. It needs a massive cleaning and a real manager that has attention to detail and quality control. There is absolutely no organization. No body cares about their job and they are not trained. Service and customer communication is some of the worst I've seen. Avoid

Recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Warm welcome, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was a very good size and very clean. We used the pool and spa facilities which were very good. We ate in the restaurant, slightly expensive but to be fair the room price was very good value so balanced out the restaurant and bar bill. Overall it was a very enjoyable visit and we would recommend the hotel whole heartedly. We will revisit in the future.

Booked an executive room and spa package for our wedding anniversary, overall the whole experience was OK, certainly didn't make me want to rush back. We had our spa treatments booked for 4pm and checked into our room at about 2pm. On Arrival to the room we had a dreadful howling noise which was coming from the radiators, a quick adjustment and the noise went away, however it returned at various points through the night, the nights sleep was dreadful with noise from the radiator and then it being either too hot or too cold. The room was large and ok, bed small considering size of the room. We had lunch in the Tea Room, the staff very friendly but the food was slow and the eggs with the eggs benedict very overcooked and more like hard boiled eggs. We went down to the spa and the reception staff are great, I thought we had joined a yoda convention though with the amount of women in robes walking round! It wasn't too busy after all though. The Spa area didn't feel that special and felt a bit grubby in places and like it ended a good clean, the hydrotherapy pool is very good. I was very disappointed with our arrival for the treatments, I was simply pointed to a room and then collected at 4pm, with complaints being made that my wife was a few minutes late. I was asked for a consultation form and had to explain that nobody had given me one to fill in, it was ok though as they simply overlooked that and carried on. The whole thing felt rushed and not very welcoming and like the staff are not interested. The massage I had was ok, I have certainly had much better but the experience has a whole was not what I would have expected. We had dinner and again it was just ok, the service needs looking at with waiters leaning across and over my wife to pass things, it wasn't even that busy but again staff just seemed not interested in making you feel welcome. I paid extra for the ribeye and it wasn't great the taste of the charcoal and fuel used to cook it was overpowering. Covered it in pepper sauce though and it was ok. the chips are fantastic and the Sundae was great. Its just a lot of little things that made the experience just ok, rather than excellent and means that for our next spa break I will have to look elsewhere.

We have local family so periodically stay here to visit. This hotel is ok if you get a reasonable price. We paid a good rate for a family room for two adults and two children. The hotel is quirky, it’s got some considerable history and pleasant stone courtyards. Balanced against that is the layout, some rooms are in delegate buildings etc. Some of the decor is dated. My partner worked here 20 years ago and some of the carpets and decor are the same. It’s all very clean well maintained and they have put modern TVs and decent showers in the rooms. We asked for a family room of four beds, got three and had to sort another out at reception. All done no problem. Breakfast room isn’t huge and if everyone descends at once table space is limited. It was suggested we take up two separate tables of two which I declined as it defeats the object of a family breakfast together. Breakfast was good, not the best but quality produce and plenty of choice. Coffee could have been better, lukewarm. Swimming pool, facilities and gym are pleasant and well worth a trip. Overall it’s an ok hotel. You just feel that with some tlc, some investment and a bit of enthusiasm it could be a really lovely hotel. A bit like my report card at school. Nice lad, could try harder.

Never will I ever step foot in to this establishment ever again over priced staff have a clue having had a very hard 2017 decided to take my partner and son for xmas day to relive some of the pressure of the day. And this hotel is a prime example of how to make a mess of a simple stay. Nearly two weeks from the date I booked I asked for the xmas day menu was promised call backs and updates on the situation not once did they return the call it was just a simple we don't know. To arrive xmas day to be told it was a buffet seems hard to be able to inform guests what's actually was the menu in a Ddb rate. Went to have a drink in the bar and asked for a wine menu to which the young arrogant I'll Mannered lady said what you want I'll tell you what we have not what I expected at all poor service. Still at this point chasing what was for our meal as still no one got back to us having me and my partner going more than once to chase these individuals to do there job to find out what was for evening meal eventually the duty manager came to the room with another member of staff who was rude and barked orders and my partner on what we could have for our meal that evening lacked basic manners and I am sure she was under the impression she was the guest her attitude and manner like most the staff abysmal and lack common basic manners.After finally being shown a menu we could have for dinner we visited the bar before our meal we ordered drinks to be told no credit to be charged to room although a card had been left at front desk and room was already paid for up front days before arrival. So eventually after having dinner my partner was by this point totally deflated and not enjoying the experience at all. So we asked for the dessert to be taken to the room on arrival no cutlery was on the plates so my partner went to speak to the hotel manager who seemed more concerned about anything than actually doing what he should be reminded along the lines of Basel faulty clueless headless chicken with no clue how to talk to customers at all rude arrogant and over talks when been spoken to. As if the bar isn't over priced enough as it is to find bits floating in your beer at that price says a lot. In my opinion this a dreadful hotel and thanks for running our xmas day one day of the year I wanted to be extra special.
