We have been meaning to come here for a while. The view on arrival was tremendous, followed by the entrance to the hotel that was mared a little by improvement works. But when finished this will make the entrance a lot better. The staff on reception were helpful and directed us too our room for the night. The room was off a quadrangle and nice and warm. A good size with all you could want. Free wifi, tea and coffee . The bathroom was a good size and generally clean. Unfortunately up the side of the wall at the bath was a large amount of long dark hair, as the tiles were white these stood out . Their is a notice about bath mats so not to slip in the bath when showering. We felt that maybe they should just put them in each room as by the time you're ready for a shower going to reception would be alkward. This was highlighted as I set the shower and tried to get on, the person who used the bath before must have used a bath oil as the bath was very slippery to the extent that I could not get out on my own and my wife had to help me. On reporting this the staff apologies telling me that it would be looked at. After we came back from the evening meal it was still the same so I had to clean it before we took a bath . I didn't feel safe standing in the bath. We had evening meal in the pub on site , this was within the package of the trip and was good , the waiter/barman was very helpful when I asked for a slight change on my meal. One of our party was not feeling too well and left for her room during the meal, the same waiter ask if she was ok and if we wanted him to get her something to eat for later. Our breakfast in the main restaurant the following morning was to a good standard. Overall we loved the place and will be returning, but next time on booking in I will ask for a bath mat.
We booked the Chetham Suite to celebrate a family 50th Birthday and also three bedrooms in the hotel. From the first contact with Hannah Crawford - the events coordinator - the whole process was seamless from pre-ordering all our food choices and booking bedrooms. On the night the whole evening went very smoothly and the food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - they even repaired our Birthday Cake which our dog had eaten a chunk out of so we could still present it on the night! When we arrived we were upgraded to an executive family room with great views. We also enjoyed using the swimming pool and spa especially the outdoor hot tub area. Thank you for a great stay!
Daughter and I visited here for the day. We booked the Time for Indulgence package. We had an hour or so in the thermal pool suite, a massage and a facial. All lovely and relaxing. We had afternoon tea in the restaurant. Truly delicious. Place is a little tired in places, staff are welcoming and pleasant. Good value for money. Will cone again and would recommend.
I booked a deal with a friend for a short chilled out break away, and if you are thinking of doing something similar DON'T, pay more to go elsewhere... The first evening meal was awful. As a vegetarian, there was one main meal choice, and I would not recommend eating at the restaurant based on the Risotto served. My friend was very poorly during the night after her food. The hotel, after over a week, finally communicated information from the chef's checks in the kitchen... We had free access to the spa, but it was not a relaxing experience as suggested on their website. It is in serious need of refurbishment as the steam rooms smelt awful and tiles were missing and coming off in the infinity pool. The staff in the spa were very helpful and accommodated our requests to move our treatments due to illness. However, the hotel have not responded well to my feedback and complaints about the whole experience at all. It has the potential to be lovely, but at the moment, it is anything but this.... Very disappointed.
Booked a spa weekend break with friends and generally had a fun time. The spa is very good, the sauna and pool were lovely and the massage treatment excellent..and of course it was great all getting away together! Unfortunately the rest of our experience was rather hit and miss. Evening dinner on our first night was very poor. Someone needs to let the chef know medium rare meat does not mean virtually raw!! Also my starter was probably the worst I have had in a long time...it looked like nearly a whole head of lettuce torn up, shoved in a bowl with four tiny prawns and three bits of rubbery crab hidden in the middle! The second night was quite nice, but to be honest we have had better pub lunches! Our rooms were ok, but definitely in need of a makeover. Shabby soft furnishings can be tolerated for a short stay, but a leaking toilet, taps that don't work and faulty electrics should be sorted out before booking guests in. On the plus side the room was tidy, clean and plenty of fresh towels available. Staff were on the whole friendly, though one of the chamber maids seemed very annoyed when we asked for fresh bath robes. Also kitchen staff weren't as efficient as they should be. We ordered breakfast to our room on the two mornings of our stay. First morning it was late. We wouldn't have been too concerned about that but the toast was cold, the yoghurt and apple juice lukewarm and the eggs benedict also stone cold. Also presentation was shabby...the tray battered and dirty looking, the silver cover over the eggs, was to be honest filthy. The second morning our breakfast didn't even turn up!! This was actually our second stay at The last drop and we had similar problems at breakfast then...late and poor presentation. The last drop has loads of potential and a lot going for it, but it is does urgentlly need a make over and maybe some more staff training? If these problems are rectified I'm sure we would all be happy to return, if not we will definitely be spending our spa weekends elsewhere in the future.
A real let down to be honest. It looks like it probably used to be a great hotel back in the day but now it's very out of date. There's a strange smell hanging around the restaurant and the service was extremely poor. We paid for everything, including dinner up front. We were seated for dinner and were given a very 80's style menu ( prawn cocktail, gammon and chips etc ). The cutlery was dirty - I asked for it to be changed but nobody ever did. The drinks took forever and when they came the beer was flat. Our starters were soggy crab cakes and pate with strange pieces of brioche. We ordered the Onglet steak medium - which came completely raw. I asked for extra veg which never turned up. We asked for sauces when the meal arrived which took another 10 minutes to arrive. I would have complained but there was nobody around to speak to. Still hungry as I hadn't eaten my raw steak, we asked for a dessert menu which we waited for for another 15 minutes and then decided to leave. We were about 10 steps out of the restaurant when the manager came running out, exclaiming loudly that we hadn't paid for our extras ( which never came ). This was very embarrassing and infuriating since there was absolutely no staff in the restaurant to be seen up until this point. The spa isn't good either. It looks like a run down leisure centre and the infinity pool looks out on to a grey car park. Avoid at all costs, we wasted £200 on this trip.
We took our autistic grandson here as it has a great pool the young man on reception was really helpful I explained my grandson love of water and he gave us a room really near to the spa,on entry to spa area I'd said to yet another lovely friendly young man we will see you in 3hour we had a great time he was so relaxed we actually spent 4 hour in there .Latter that evening we had a meal in restaurant they really accomadated our needs the food was lovely ,after a great sleep we went for breakfasts the choice was excellent .Id like to thank you all for a great stay
Stayed for one night, check in was slow but the reception staff were polite & helpful. Overall the hotel is a bit soulless & lacking in character (looks more impressive from the outside) the room was a bit run down but was clean & the bed was very comfortable. Spa & pool pretty good & buffet breakfast was decent.
We met up with some family here for a swim and spa and then a meal. We were greeted by very friendly staff upon arrival , they made us feel very welcome and paid extra attention to the kids which is always good (seeing as we have 4 young children) we had a couple of drinks whilst we waited for the rest of the family to arrive - service was very good. There was a wedding going on so that added to the happy atmosphere of the place. The rest of the family arrived and we headed for the spa, the only bad part of the whole experience here was there was one member of staff working behind the desk at the spa (wish I'd have gotten her name to report ) who was very rude , no smiles , not welcoming and spoke down to us - larger women blonde hair tied back and stomped and strutted around like she was angry? Came into the changing rooms whilst we got changed opening and slamming locker doors - really was quite rude making us feel uncomfortable. Anyway........ we didn't let this woman ruin our family time together. The pool and pool area and changing facilities are all clean and tidy and well maintained. The spa is nice , we particularly enjoyed the hot tub which led outside. There is a good selection of steam rooms and saunas. After getting dressed we went back to the bar area and the staff put a table together for all 11 of us. We ordered food , I had the chicken ceaser salad and my husband had the chicken wrap, others had the curry and soup and burger - everybody enjoyed the food and there were plenty of clean plates at the end . The kids meals were good value a starter of garlic bread or soup and a variety of mains including mac&cheese and spag Bol which our kids loved and then a desert and a drink all for £7 which was great. We would return here and maybe come for a nights stay or a weekend break and would recommend to others.
We were recommended this hotel has we were going to a function in one of the Suites The staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, we had a family room and it had loads of towels. The only thing that was that the housekeeping didn't top up the tea bags Take your swimwear the Spa is lovely. The Thermal pool is an adult only area so you can chill out Food in the restaurant is good quality, staff again were excellent
